5 out of 5 eggsdoes it all

Pros: works great and setup was easy. 2 column display is clutch. Probably a little overkill for most entertainment systems but for the extra couple of dollars why not upgrade. I have a receiver, TV, 4 port HDMI switch, cable box, media player, and electronic picture frame that i control with this remote. The display is convenient for the picture frame and media player since some of those controls are unique. Since HDMI protocol with signal switching is still a little flaky the macros(up to 20 commands) work great on this remote. Come home from a long day at work and i just press one button and BANG! I have ESPN on my 55".

Cons: Not the sexiest remote in the world. Luckily my friends and family don't judge me on my remotes appearance.

Other Thoughts: No need to drop $300 on a remote that does the same thing because of the name or you see it on tv.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: -Works with everything. I have it running my Yamaha Receiver, Sharp TV, Direct TV HD-DVR, Sony Blu-Ray, and a Patriot media-streaming box.
-The learning function rocks and is super easy. I only used the Pre-Programmed codes for my TV, because it was so easy for the remote to learn the other device commands.
-I got it for about $75.... which is a steal for how feature rich this remote is.
-Each controlled device has a list of 20 programmable LCD labelled buttons.
-Better range and angles than ANY other infrared remote I have used.
-My girlfriend could use it after less than an hour... bravo on being user friendly!!!

Cons: Nothing

Other Thoughts: -I have not even used the Macro or Favs functions, but just from reading about them they look awesome.
-I have not owned a Logitech remote, but after using this (and paying much less than Logi) I would never buy another brand. I am very impressed with how powerful and easy-to-use this remote is. I put 5 remotes away and hope to never see them again.

5 out of 5 eggsNothing Compares

Pros: I've owned this remote for over 5 years, and it is still the best on the market imo. All the LCD labels are editable, which is a big plus for those buttons that don't match the standard remote layout. 5 pages of favorites with editable labels. I didn't use any of the presets. I customized all of the buttons and the learning feature is excellent. Fully customizable.

Cons: None at all.

Other Thoughts: It will go through batteries, but if you pickup 4 AAA NIMH batteries, problem solved. My batteries are the same cells i bought when I got the remote.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Adaptable

Pros: You can easily EDIT any page of the LCD screen. You can place more descriptive macros on the LCD screen, like MOVIE and program the one button to turn on SAT, Turn on TV, turn on AUDIO, and then set audio to desired input and sound settings and with the press of one button you're good to go!! Love the BACK-LIGHT feature of every button on the device. Do your ever watch movies at night, in the dark???

Cons: There was no PRE-PROGRAMMED code for my Direct TV SAT receiver and DVR. I tried every single code for SAT and for DVR and not one of them worked. This is why my rating is 4 eggs! I had to use the LEARN mode to program every button of the MX-500 to my other remote; tedious and it took me over an hour.

Other Thoughts: I also have the R6 universal remote for another TV and Entertainment center in another room of my house. The R6 was so easy to program, and it worked with every device that I have but there is no Back-Light feature to all of the buttons. I bought the MX-500 because of its shape and size; easily fits in one hand AND because of the Back-Light feature which is really sweet.

3 out of 5 eggsMake Sure it is Compatible

Pros: Very durable and customizable

Cons: Make sure this remote will work with your system because you cannot exchange it for a different one. Does not work with NextGen IR extender.

5 out of 5 eggsBest.Remote.Ever

Pros: Nearly indestructible. I have had my MX500 for several years and it has never failed me. Numerous different components and it has controlled them all (TVs, receivers, DVD, PS3, Xbox360, Dish, etc). My 2 year old even dropped it in the toilet. After it drained and dried out, I put new batteries in it and it fired right up!

Cons: No RF transmitter.

Other Thoughts: Cannot go wrong with this remote, but Universal Remote has gotten snobby in the last few years and will not offer tech support if you do not buy this from an "authorized reseller". However, it is easy to program and you will likely never need their help anyway.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Remote

Pros: Main advantage to of this remote over many others, you can change the labels on each of the LED buttons. There are 2 pages of LED for each device, so you have 20 labels for each device.

I've had this remote for approx 5 years now, and there is still nothing that compares. I spent the time to program each button manually for each device.

Cons: Not a one.

Other Thoughts: Seems to go through batteries fast, but I just picked up a set of NIMH to fix that.

4 out of 5 eggsRecommended for durability

Pros: Very high durability and excellent support for individual devices and their functions. The hardware is fantastic quality.

Cons: It's not a Logitech Harmony..which is just a phenomenally designed firmware/software item. But the actual device quality of the Logitechs are just not good if you have people in your house who are hard on treatment of electronics. If Logitech stepped up and made the hardware this level of quality, they would shut down the market.

Other Thoughts: I wish it had the amazing software integration of a Harmony, but this remote will last far longer and I'm tired of all the broken control surfaces of the Logitech Harmony products. They have no quality control....I've had four of theirs now in three years. All started to lose buttons.

If you have kids or spouses that are the Samsonite Gorilla when it comes to electronics, buy this remote.

3 out of 5 eggsdoes not work with comcast HD

Pros: cool remote, ability to 'learn' commands from most remotes, back-lit screen and buttons

Cons: it does not work with comcast HD remote. also, my remote came with a big black spot on the lcd, you only see it with the backlight on. its about the size of a finger nail. still not enough for me to return it, but very annoying.

Other Thoughts: cool remote but the fact it won't support my comcast remote really sucks.

5 out of 5 eggsBest remote control ever!

Pros: Very flexible to program it exactly to your liking(can actually program every single button on this thing to match your original remote if you have it). Back-lit buttons and lcd. VERY durable, great layout and feel. Great battery life. 3 macro buttons. Not too hard to program just takes a little time.

Cons: The directional buttons and the enter/select button are all in one button sometimes presses in a direction when trying to press the select button, taking me off the selected item on the screen and selecting the next. Takes some getting used to but after you do its not that bad. It's a tad on the big side but still way better than having 5 remotes laying around.

Other Thoughts: Like others have said after taking the time to set up the remote you won't have to mess around with it. Even if you do have to its not too hard to program it. Dropped this thing in some water and it was 3/4 of the way submerged, let it dry out for a couple of days replaced the batteries and it still works like a charm. Tried many other universal remotes, none hold a candle to this one!
