4 out of 5 eggsGood remote, tho not perfect

Pros: Absolutely simplifies use of everything in your home entertainment center, from DVD to cable to CDs to radio. Setup is a piece of cake, and gives you a good level of control over how you want things to work (DVD sound comes from amplifier, not tv speakers for example). Pretty much guaranteed to never be obselete, as the online database is continually updated. The help feature works well, especially if a component doesn't receive a command properly the first go around.

Cons: Circular design of keys isn't good. With my other remotes I could do everything by feel, since all these buttons are the same size and shape, I usually have to look at the remote to make sure I have the right button. Not a huge deal, but something to be aware of. If you prefer to go directly to channels by punching in the numbers, you'll find the location of the numbers on the bottom to be uncomfortable. Limited component level control (for setup, etc.)

Other Thoughts: The remote absolutely simplified operation of my home theater. In some cases, it even works better than the OEM remote. Now when mom comes to visit, she'll actually be able to turn on and watch tv without calling me at work. :) The one thing that's not so obvious is that if you need to get into the setup of any of your devices, you'll probably want to use the original remotes. For example, there doesn't seem to be a way to adjust the brightness, contrast, etc. on the tv using the remote. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with it, if you do need more granular control on a frequent basis, you'll probably find yourself frustrated with it. For day to day use with no tinkering, it's great.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Remote

Pros: I like the remote a lot. It has replaced 4 remotes including one oddball piece that not too many use. The activity macros a really nice.

Cons: Small buttons, setup is too widget based, hard to tweak specific settings in the software. You can customize most anything...if only you could find it.

3 out of 5 eggsrelatively good remote

Pros: Overall the activity functions of the remote are good. As well as being able to map each individual key in the remote per device. Build is solid and the remote is comfortable in your hand. Backlighting is definetly a plus/

Cons: The keys are on the small side, and the software times out to early, especially when you are in the middle of programming the whole remote over again.

Other Thoughts: The price is on the high side, but I can understand where the cost of the device is. Definetly would consider another Harmony, just not one with a circular keypad design

1 out of 5 eggsterrible ergonomics

Pros: Large database of devices that is internet accessible. The concept of "activities" that have associated settings for multiple devices is good.

Cons: The button ergonimics are awful. The software is a pain. To change the slightest thing you have to do it though the USB.

Other Thoughts: It feels terrible in your hand, the buttons are tiny and tightly packed in a silly ways to make it "look cool". The most commonly used TiVo buttons like, guide, list, 30-skip, etc. are not at all easy to find without looking. What's worse there aren't really any buttons that are easy to find without looking so you can't even remap the hot functins to them. Comparing the feel of this thing to the TiVo remote which I was hoping it could replace just makes me weep.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Remote, works as advertised

Pros: Programmability; light weight; sleek design;

Cons: Small buttons; button delays;

Other Thoughts: This is the best universal remote I've owned simply because of the ease of programmability. The website is not too easy to follow and still requires a level of experience to get the remote dialed in. Of course, that depends how complicated a system one has, but I can't imagine someone buying this remote if they didn't have a complex system.

My biggest complaint is that there is a noticeable delay from when buttons are pushed on the remote to when the signal is sent. This is most annoying when using the DVR and trying to skip or rewind.
Second to that, the buttons are somewhat small and I don't have the biggest hands either.

However, all that is overshadowed by the ability to create activities and multiply custom menus. I also like the idea that when I upgrade components of my HT, I won't have to buy a new remote.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat remote

Pros: This is the best remote I've ever owned. This is the second one of these I have purchased. One in the home theater, and one in the bedroom. Now my wife pushes the same buttons for a given action, and doesn't need to know what is going on behind the scenes, even though my two systems are vastly different. Ther online programming is easy, and works great.

Cons: The buttons are way to small. A ham fisted guy like me is always inadvertantly pushing the wrong button.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Does everything it’s supposed to and then some!

Cons: Don’t like button feel, don’t like button placement, can be complex to setup for some

Other Thoughts: It took me around 2 hours to set it up exactly how I wanted it in expert mode and had to make several changes to the settings to the default settings due to my complex system setup. It’s controlling an H/K AVR 650, Sony DVD, Delphi XM radio, HD PVR/Tuner (Cable Box), living room lights (dimmers) and a Sony HD TV. It irritated me a little that my PVR and Cable box had to be setup separately despite them being one and the same (one action for PVR and another for Cable TV).

WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor); she called it a toy, but after using it to control everything she LOVES it! All six other remotes are now collecting dust :)

5 out of 5 eggsAwsome Remote

Pros: Remote commands (profile) is stored online
Remote controls everything (when I say everything, I mean everything) - A/C, TV, DVD, Amp, Fans, Lights (if you have the remote light module)
Cool Illumination and LCD Screen
One touch macro's (Watch TV, Watch DVD)
Easy setup

Cons: Feels cheaply built
Buttons are a little hard to press (the ones by the LCD Screen)

4 out of 5 eggsNot Plug and Play

Pros: Easy interface with the internet. Programs almost all commands through your computer.

Cons: The video on the webite gives the impression that the programming is really simple. For most generic functions this is true, but needs a lot of fine tuning to work well with today's multi device entertainment systems.

Other Thoughts: The keys are way too small. My Home Theater Master has a much better layout.

4 out of 5 eggsNot perfect, but still quite impressive

Pros: * Online, wizard-based setup through USB greatly facilitates initial programming of remote.

* Highly customizable

* Helpful tech support was painfully thorough

* Help button on remote tries to resynchronize devices if/when they don't turn off or on properly

Cons: * Some customization required after initial online setup in order to tweak

* Buttons are a little small so you have to look at the remote to make sure you're pressing the right button

Other Thoughts: Strongly recommended. Although the automated setup isn't perfect, and I did have to call tech support with a couple of questions, once you've got the Harmony remote tweaked to your preferences it really does make things soooo much easier.

I use the remote to control our TV, HD cable box/PVR, receiver, DVD, and VCR. The four "Activity" buttons (e.g. "Watch TV") on the top of the remote make it incredibly easy to switch on the appropriate devices and set them to the appropriate inputs, and 90% of the programming is handled behind-the-scnenes through the online, wizard-based setup. Also, if you switch from one activity to another, such as watching a DVD after watching a TV show, the remote remembers which devices are already active and only turns on what is needed.

Tech support is relatively good. I spoke with "Jay" at tech support, which is apparently based offshore. Jay was extremely helpful in trying to troubleshoot my programming problem.
