1 out of 5 eggsTotal Peice of JUNK

Pros: Looks nice.

Cons: Constantly have to use the paperclip to get it to function.

Also have a problem with it duplicating clicks.

This remote is a total waste of money.

4 out of 5 eggsStopped Working UPDATE- Fixed

Pros: Works with MCE. Can be fixed if it stopss working. I removed the batteries and then bridge the adjacent battery connectors with a paperclip. (the two that are closest together.) This drains the internal capacitors and got my remote back up and running.

Cons: Can sometimes just stop working.

4 out of 5 eggsMine Failed Too

Pros: Works good with MCE.

Cons: Mine just stopped working todat too. Been alomost a year. My keyboard still works with the reciever but the remote just stopped. It doesn't controll the TV anymore either so I know it is not the software.

BTW- they don'nt seem to control the DVD menus properly. I think that might be an MCE thing though.

1 out of 5 eggsdead garbage

Pros: looks cool, long range, can learn extra buttons

Cons: volume and channel buttons need to be smashed down, once in a while batteries need to be pulled out

Other Thoughts: this is garbage, my stereo remote from 1992 still works, this died within months. At first my skip back button would be recognized only once in a while (still light up), after that it just completely stop working. I'm thinking about throwing it against the wall a few times, who knows... maybe it caught a blue screen.
Does anyone know how to check if their hardware is still under warranty?

Pros: It worked fine for a while. Good controls. Lets you do everything you need to do.

Cons: It broke. I have had 2 of these brake so far. The first one I opened it up and it started working agian, but the second one just completely broke. I didn't drop it, it just stopped working.

2 out of 5 eggsMine too

Pros: It worked great while it lasted. It's as comfortable as the TiVo remote. It has all the buttons you need to control the Media Center interface. I am told it works with the Xbox360 as a Media Extender.

I'd give it a 5 if it didn't break and maybe a four if I could easily RMA it.

Cons: Mine broke like everybody elses after a month. I opened it up and didn't see any loose connections.

Other Thoughts: When I opened it, it seems like an elegent design. No screws one card, external connections (LEDs & Batteries) were simple and solid. Can't figure out why it is broken.

Once you take it apart it is obvious you did so because you have to drill the fastner under the batteries. After that, the thing snaps apart and snaps back together pretty solid. If I can't get it RMAd, its going in the kids' toy box.

I am pretty sure it works with the Xbox360 MCX (Extender) becuase my keyboard works for the navigational controls that the remote has on them.

This is not an endorsement for using Media Extender. Having trouble with video formats. Pictures and music work just like on the PC, though. Remote is required for numeric input on some screens as xbox controller is limited.

5 out of 5 eggsWhy didn't I buy this sooner???

Pros: Works EXACTLY the way it's supposed to. Nice layout. Like the backlighting.

Cons: Occasionally have to pull the batteries (like others have said). Would like the number buttons to be a "little" bit bigger; but not at all bad. Would like to see buttons for My Videos, My Music, & My Pictures.

Other Thoughts: Regardless of the cons, for the price--I can't believe I went so long with the hauppauge remote I used to use! Compared to it, this remote is a DREAM.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks just as I would think

Pros: Works great for controlling Windows Media Center. Very good range and feelt good in my hand. Button arrangement is well thought out.

Cons: Cannot buy only the remote or only the receiver.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Does work well with MCE2005 and does just what it says.

Cons: Had to find a driver to use for the IR receiver on the web, very little instruction on the OEM (which is what OEM is...).

Other Thoughts: It's not a bad remote, they should bundle this with MCE. It doesn't work with SageTV (the IR receiver)
