Make all your electronics work together with the Harmony One advanced universal remote from Logitech. Setup is easy; just connect the remote to your PC or Mac, and the setup wizard will help you configure the remote. Enter the manufacturer and model information of your equipment and how you use it and the wizard does the rest. You can also download database updates on the Internet to get your future equipment supported.
Once you have the Harmony set up, all you have to do is press a button. The Harmony One will then turn on and configure the devices needed. The full-color touch screen makes it easy to choose and control your whole entertainment system.
Not only will the Harmony control your AV equipment, it can control your RF wireless devices. That way you can control the lighting and blinds in the room, if they're remote-ready. When you hit "Play Movie" or "Watch TV" the lights dim and the blinds close to give you a perfect viewing environment.
Pros: Replaced 6 remotes with this one. Haven't found a feature that is missing yet. They even had what I thought would be an obscure HDMI remote switch in their device list. Had a problem w/ my Yahama receiver not working properly (off/on). Sent email to support and they took a look at my profile, made some changes and it appears the problem is resolved.
Cons: It'll take a while to set up everything and rearrange the buttons the way you like. But, now one press of a button and all my devices turn on/off and/or switch to the correct settings. My soon-to-be-ex always complained our system was too complicated for her. She might have stayed if she knew about this remote. Come to think of it, that is more a Pro than a Con.

My new favorite universal remote
Reviewed By: bobsyeruncle on 6/18/2008
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: Near perfect button layout and buttons are responsive. Deep device database. Learning standard buttons is a breeze Good looking and fits the hand well Nice backlighting and good motion detection Installable software is stable Favorites with graphics is quite nice Charging cradle is better than a cord stuck in it.
Cons: Can be easy to touch the soft buttons accidentally or even the wrong one. Software is tedious. *No ability to back up configuration!* Cannot change the order of the devices (for advanced users) Cannot change the power off order of devices Cannot create extra actions when powering off
Other Thoughts: I'm an MX-700 owner looking to update. Bought an MX-810 and this remote edges it out because of button feel and button responsiveness. I have to say both of the softwares for these remotes suuuck. But in the end it gets the job done. One thing my other remote(s) do very well is allow you to open different config files and download them or even upload them from remote to software. Logitech's way is to have a single living config which cannot be backed up, shared, etc. I think this is a real disadvantage, as it would be disheartening to have to reprogram one of these from scratch. Part of the reason its tedious is because they don't have a graphical button layout where drag and drop comes in really handy!

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: Easy set up. Touch Screen Control. Intuitive. Easy to handle.
Cons: None yet.
Other Thoughts: This is my first universal remote. I was able to set this remote up within 30 minutes. I was very surprised. So far it has captured all of the functions of my devices: - Toshiba Regza LCD TV - LG BD370 BluRay Player - Yamaha Home Theater Receiver - DirecTV High Def Receiver

Works ok if you like cycling through the help all of the time
Reviewed By: on 12/19/2009
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Works great for many devices excepty TV's with more than 1 unique HDMI input
Cons: Works only by repeatedly going through the help if more than 1 HDMI input used no matter what settings are used
Other Thoughts: This problem seems to be universal. I have used it with two different tvs, a Westinghouse and a Sony Bravia. Both exhibit the same lousy behavior. Just can't seem to get to the right video input no matter how it is set up. My set up is extremely simple, two devices one connected to HDMI 1 and the other to HDMI 2, nothing else for video. It does get to the correct AVR settings.

The software and tech support are not helpful for power users

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: I purchased this when I bought a new TV and assembled a HTPC (Windows Media Center). Once you have the hang of the software it is fairly easy to set up. Lightweight and easy to hold. The "activity" concept is nice, but has a few bugs. It did successfully replace my aging Pronto Pro.
Cons: To make any change to the remote you have to use the software. The software wizards for setting up the remote are almost a hindrance. You really have to think like the person who wrote the software before you can figure out what is going on, and they think very oddly. Any change requires the entire remote to be wiped and reprogrammed, and I saw no way to create restore points or to undo a change.
The remote is not the best for use with a HTPC. It works as well if not better than any universal remote designed for dedicated components. I ended up ordering a wireless keyboard and mouse as well.
There is no documentation on what all the buttons on the remote are. I am very disappointed in this. If you want to customize you'll have to create soft buttons that appear on the display. I'd prefer being able to remap the hard buttons. The creation of activities is limited to what the software developers thought up.
Tech support was friendly but useless for power users.
Other Thoughts: I keep expecting the directional keys to be further up the remote since I'm navigating the Media Center menus with them.
Is it too much to ask for a diagram of the remote with each button labeled?
