2 out of 5 eggsUsable, but not worth it

Pros: It looks nice and is light weight. Comes with rechargeable batteries and docking station. Solid build quality. Programmable activities. Glow in the dark back lighting.

Cons: The channel controls are on the bottom half of the controller making the remote uncomfortable to use with only one hand. Two hands are always required to properly operate the remote. Navigating through the menus on the remote is poor. I find myself having to scroll between several pages before I get to the function I want. For example, my TV has 4 HDMI inputs, and there is no easy way to toggle between inputs other than cycling through on the available inputs on the remote LCD screen. Even to turn off a single device you need to cycle through menus.

Other Thoughts: I had high expectations as this was my first "smart universal" remote, but it disappoints in almost every aspect. It is a remote that is more trouble than it is worth. I bought it on sale for $70, but regret the purchase.

3 out of 5 eggsbetter then most, but, take note

Pros: SO easy to set up. The software really makes it easy to configure this remote. And it has been able to replace all of my other remotes.

Cons: Poor hardware design. The up and Emmy volume buttons stopped working consistently after about one year. Most disappointing, is the battery. It suddenly swelled to 1.5 times its size. When I searched for cause, I read on several forums that this model has a defective battery and is not available for replacement.

Other Thoughts: I'o going to give logitech another chance with the universal one model. This is a good remote if you are willing to take a chance on the battery.

3 out of 5 eggsgood for a year or two

Pros: worked as expected for a couple of years...

Cons: 1. keys (which have been used the most) stopped working... causing terrible experience and a lot of frustration
2. battery cover broke after a year of use (currently taped)
3. no support for linux!

Other Thoughts: 200 bucks for a couple of years ~= $8 for a month... who knows, may be that's not too bad for someone, but I wouldn't recommend it for a friend
I could give it 5 eggs before, but now it's more like 1... hard to give it a correct estimate cause it depends on time when the review is given

2 out of 5 eggsProblems

Pros: Easy to program. Was able to handle all my equipment with the exception of a WII

Cons: Buttons on metal rim stopped working. Sound up and channel down stopped working even after reprogramming. Charging cradle is designed poorly. The contacts don't make unless you press down and still may open. The battery was loose in unit and I had to add tissue to keep from going open and loosing programming.

Other Thoughts: The support responded ok except I don't think tissue paper is a very good fix. The proper sized battery would have helped.

5 out of 5 eggsBest remote I've ever owned

Pros: I can't say enough pro's for this remote. The activities function has changed my life! It works with every component I had, even my media PC. The setup program is incredibly easy and the remote is pretty self explanatory after a few days of use.

I also like that if there's a feature(s) on your original device remote that's not listed on this, you can simply program it in. It reads the IR signal from the old remote and just mimic's it.

Cons: The only con is there is an issue with the remote charging on the cradle. Honestly, all you have to do is wiggle so it seats correctly, taking all of like 2 sec. I didn't drop the rating for it since it hasn't even been an issue for me. I just wanted to mention it since others were making an issue of it.

Other Thoughts: I'm really not sure why everyone's been giving it such average reviews, it's honestly a very good remote. I suppose if it doesn't charge, it's useless, but I've owned mine for about 2.5 years now and have had zero issues. I even bought a 2nd one for my other living room. 4 months and no issues with it either.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Controls everything I own.

Cons: Charging cradle issues, does not hold a charge for very long compared to conventional remotes, LCD screen started to suffer from burn-in after a few months, small buttons, paint is chipping off some of the buttons because I have to use my fingernail to hit them.

Other Thoughts: Not worth the asking price. I got it for about 1/3 the MSRP and I am still disappointed with it at that price.

2 out of 5 eggsIncredible remote...when it charges

Pros: This remote does everything you'd need. Haven't found a device it won't control. Solid construction, colorful screen, works like a champ...for about 6 months.

Cons: This product has a well documented flaw with the charging cradle that Logitech is pretending doesn't exist. I've had this remote for almost two years now, and I am on my third cradle. It starts with the remote being picky about how it is seated while charging. Eventually, it stops charging all together. The metal contacts are connected to flexible metal strips within the cradle that get bent out of shape after a few months of use. Logitech has absolutely no sympathy and have treated me like garbage after the initial 90 days. I had to beg and plead for a replacement 6 months after purchase, and when that one died a year later, they flat out hung up on me. I purchased another dock online and that one died last September. I have since opened one up and was able to rig it with cardboard to keep the contacts in place, but I still need to place something heavy on top of the remote to get it charging.

Other Thoughts: Skip this remote. If you are feeling clever, you may be able to create your own cradle to replace the one that comes with it. Logitech has made no effort to remedy this, but instead just moved onto a new product line. If you absolutely need this remote, I suppose the best way to extend the life of the dock is to ONLY place the remote on the dock when charging. The less time you have the weight of the remote pushing down on the contacts, the more time you have before the metal strips start getting bent out of shape.

3 out of 5 eggsnice remote..software should allow more control

Pros: Controls all my gear from one device

Cons: backlight a little weak, I had to call support to get one device programmed properly. Software geared towarded mainsteam. I wished it was more granular and had an option to kill the wizard.

Other Thoughts: Support depends on who you get on the phone. One person couldn't help me. Eventually I figured it but kind of troubling. To me its a new device but really its only a remote. Support doesn't know how their works? My second call the guy was in over his head and he knew it. Issue escalted and fixed quickly.

5 out of 5 eggsThe remote I've been waiting for.

Pros: I have been through at least 9 universal remotes. Not because they broke, but because there was always some feature missing. This remote finally does everything I need an infrared remote to do.
The separation of "devices" and "activities" was confusing at first. Once I understood the intent, I think it's brilliant. An activity let's you mix the functions of any device, turn any key into a macro, and configure the start-up and shut-down enabling easy transitions from one activity to another.
I haven't had a problem with the durability. It's been two years. It has been dropped several time (about 100) with no loss in function. The keys are starting to show a slight bit of wear.

Cons: The charging cradle is a little too fussy. The remote often doesn't fall into the charging position. But if I pay attention it works fine.

Other Thoughts: The tilt sensor for sleeping/waking the screen is a blessing and a curse. The feature can be turned off if desired.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Remote Ever

Pros: Very Easy to configure.
The online configuration makes it easy to upgrade and you always have a backup of the configuration if you need a new one.
Online configuration is simple and intuitive.
Makes usage of multiple devices easy.
The charger means no need for batteries.

Cons: Mine has a rattle like something loose inside. No idea if that's an issue, some of the buttons feel a little weak, but they're ones that I don't even use.
