1 out of 5 eggsCrippled Product - WORTHLESS Support

Pros: On the plus side, the online programming interface is pretty easy, on-line experience is simple, and I had no problem finding all my components in their database. Unfortunately - as noted in my diatribe above - this device just doesn't work well at all. Customer support came up quickly twice, though they were unable to resolve any of my issues.

Cons: Programmed two basic activities: Watch TV and Watch DVD. First involves turning on my LG 47LM7600 TV (2012 model, 3D with WiFi - brand new), turning on my Cox Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4242HDC cable box, and turning on my Yamaha Home Audio-visual Receiver RX-V373 (brand new) switching to the right input (HDMI 1) on my the receiver and right input (HDMI 1) the TV, changing channel to pre-selected favorite on the cable box, and controlling the sound on my TV. Second - Watch DVD - similar. Sound familiar so far? After a bit of effort, I was able to get the activities (single button press) to turn on my TV without turning off my cable box and turning on the AV Receiver. Up volume however didn't seem to work, though down volume was OK. Called tech support and they were stumped. ???

Other Thoughts: Volume issue resolved when I figured out you had to hold the UP volume for more than 10-12 seconds before it (sometimes) worked. They thought that was OK, and pronounced that issue resolved. Similar issue with using guide, if you want to select a station you have to hold that button for 10 or more seconds and it sometimes works.

BLUF: SAVE yourself a lot of grief and avoid this crippled Logitech product!

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost Great

Pros: The remote is easy to setup and has the remote codes for every piece of equipment that I have.

Moving remote (lifting, twisting, etc.) will automatically activate the back-light.

Cons: The remote comes with rechargeable batteries, but there is no battery meter. This means that the remote will all of a sudden state that the batteries need to be recharged. This is very inconvenient.

What makes it worse is that you can't use the remote while it is recharging. I would strongly recommend getting some additional NiMH batteries and a recharger. That way you can make sure that you will always have a set of batteries ready.

4 out of 5 eggsBest Remote I've Owned

Pros: -1 touch power for all
-includes rechargeable batteries

Cons: -Feels cheap
-does not support the "-" command for OTA TV.

Other Thoughts: I Purchased this directly from Logitech when it was on sale. This is my second logitech Harmony remote. I upgraded from my aging and dying Harmony 360. All my prior settings transferred to the new remote flawlessly. Only down side is that I cannot enter 45-1 as the - is not recognized. It isn't an issue for cable box owners.

The LCD screen does not default to the best commands for your activity, but it is super easy to put the proper commands on it via the setup wizard during programming.

I took an egg because of how flimsy the remote feels, but I am not at all disappointed with my purchase. When you hold it, it feels like soft plastic that could crack if you squeeze too hard... but it is obviously more sturdy than that.

The rechargeable batteries on this thing are incredible. I have charged in only once in the last 3 months, and I use it daily.

4 out of 5 eggsIt does help

Pros: Nice Feel
Fairly easy to setup (if you get the right software)

Cons: Doesn't always shut things off properly
Battery runs out kind of quick
Correct software is not properly labeled in instruction guide (serves me right for actually reading it)

Other Thoughts: Most of the cons are made up for by the pros.
Self-learning is good, but needs to catch on quicker.
I think this was a good buy.

2 out of 5 eggsDisapointment for previous generation Harmony owners

Pros: Its a Harmony remote

- Rechargeable via micro USB

- myharmony website lets you add 8 devices instead of 6 which the Harmony software limits you to

- Comes with Eneloop rechargable batteries (ordered directly from Logitech, Newegg might give you Eni Time batteries)

- The buttons are rubber coated and has a nice feel to them

- The Page up, Page down, Volume buttons, channel buttons, pause, and the directional pad has a nice coutour feel to them so you know when your at the edge of that button just by touch.

- Worth it after a half off code from Logitech due to being an existing Harmony owner

Cons: backlight not bright enough

- Text under number buttons not backlit

- Tiny LCD screen (the pictures are misleeding)

- Price! I still cannot believe this remote is still 3 figures

- None of the buttons above or on the side of the LCD light up

- The myharmony website disapoints:
- Cannot rename custom activites so you end up with "Custom Custom2, Custom 3, etc"
- Cannot program multibutton sequences to a single button
- Missing inputs for their own line of devices (Logitech Z-5500 missing the 6 channel direct input)

- When selecting activites the LCD screen is not divided into 4 quadrants to display 4 activites per screen and there is no way to rearange them like on the 550.

- In orter to activate the backlighting, the remote has to be tilted vertically, my old 550 glowed as soon as i touched it and had a dedicated "glow" button

- When you map an activity to the non backlit brown buttons it still shows up on the LCD screen which is a waste of space.

Other Thoughts: I am a existing Harmony owner. I owned the Harmony 550 for about 3 years, when the buttons started to fade and the LCD screen started flickering i got this to replace it. Big mistake, The button layout is horrid, i find myself having to constantly readjusting the remote in my hand to use the playback buttons.

This is not an improvement over the previous generation remotes as it limits you in every way the previous remotes gave you the freedom with. I can see now why users are still fighting to keep their 880s, 720s and Xbox 360 remotes when they go bad.

Logitech is great for giving me half off a new remote since my current one was dying as long as i ordered it from their site at MRSP, even with tax and shipping charges it still came out way cheaper than here.

Im still a fan of logitech and i guess i will learn to live with the flaws of this device until it breaks.

I hope they can find a way to bring both the myharmony website and the downloadable software together.

4 out of 5 eggsAnd then there was 1!

Other Thoughts: none

3 out of 5 eggsHarmony 700

Pros: Easy to setup. backlit keys. charge on batteries last. slick modern feel.

Cons: It forgets what to turn off and on. Help button does solve it. also sets the AV reciever to the wrong outputs. With mine unable to label(name) custom activities. Volume and channel buttons click when pressing.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you use it to turn everything off, or it will really get confused. But with all it's quirks it is still better than fumbling around with five remotes!
