5 out of 5 eggsGood Deal

Pros: Learned all my devices except TV (but it is a very old TV). Navigation works perfectly and the buttons are easy to use.

Cons: Feels a little cheap

Other Thoughts: You can trick it to learn 2 devices on 1 setting if you're creative enough. I have my DVD player and Stereo on 1 setting so I can quickly navigate, play DVD, and change volume/audio settings without switching... it might be pointless but it frees up another setting for another device.

I'd like to be able to program the remote to correspond with keys on the keyboard so that I can control other programs with it.

Still it beat all of the competition on price and it is a universal remote.

1 out of 5 eggsCheap, learning disabled

Pros: LED lights up indicating which device mode is selected

Cons: Flimsy. Tiny buttons are not difficult to press but have a poor tactile feel. Instructions are written in Engrish and it took some time to realize that it would not successfully learn from my tv remote - the remote indicates learning was a success, but programmed buttons do not work. The tv remote has been mimicked by an older Radio Shack remote perfectly, so I blame this remote.

5 out of 5 eggslearning is good.

Pros: great remote, can be programed to control multiple devices. Pretty simple to program after you go through the steps a couple times.

Cons: the navigate backwards button is a thumb stretch from the navigational arrows - by no means a huge deal, just a little more thumb exercise than I'd prefer.

Other Thoughts: a much better investment than the two black Anyware remotes.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Item but with Flaws

Pros: If you have an HTPC and you want to make use of Windows Media Center, this is the remote for you. You can have a fully functional HTPC and never have to leave the couch. It can even control an Xbox 360.

Cons: I ran into one big downside when I pressed the Media Center button and it turned on the Media Center program in Vista... and it turned on the Xbox 360 sitting right next to the HTPC. That just won't do for me, but perhaps some might want that feature. I prefer to have one or the other on at a time, not both.

Also, I was hoping to configure some of the colored buttons to open other programs, like Beyond TV or Hulu Desktop, but it does not seem to work that way. I did not deduct any points for this, as it never explicitly said it could do that.

Other Thoughts: If you have an HTPC or an Xbox 360, you will really love this remote. If you have both, you might consider a non-infrared remote for controlling your PC.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat remote generally

Pros: Good value for the money. Learning function works well.

I think it is attractive compared to Microsoft's remote.

IR Receiver much smaller than the Microsoft remote it replaced.

Cons: Cannot choose codes for devices like on some universal remotes, you must actually learn from the original remote. Had to relearn commands in a couple cases presumably due to dirty IR signal recording.

Some media center buttons are awkward to press because they are at the very bottom of the remote.

Other Thoughts: Even (mostly) learned an Apple remote except for long-press menu command.

Feels very light weight (maybe cheap) as some have commented, but after using for a few days it feels fine to me.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: Works out of the box with Ubuntu 8.04 and MythTV via LIRC. Learning feature is easy to use and works well. This remote and USB receiver were extremely easy to get running. We can now turn on and operate our TV, DVD, VCR, and HTPC with one remote.

Cons: Seems a little light as others have stated. USB cord wasn't quite long enough to place the IR receiver on top of television without using an extender.

Other Thoughts: Does not include IR blasters for cable/sat boxes to be recorded from, but works great at controlling the playback features of MythTV.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great for the money

Pros: For a cheap remote, this one works great. I've yet to find a button that I could not program into the Anyware GV-IR01WT. If you can remember where you programmed each button from the original remote, then you will be happy with this MCE remote.

Cons: None yet. The remote feels a little cheap. But for the money, what do you expect. It still works great!

Other Thoughts: Sure I'd love to have one of the Logitech remotes. But for the money, this one can't be beat!

5 out of 5 eggsworks like a charm

Pros: white so it matches my TV, computer and shoji screen. Works from across the room with no difficulties. it seems plenty durable. I don't think I will have any problems with it.

Cons: I thought I would like the learning feature more than I do. I haven't really set down and programmed all the functionality I want yet. I wish I could just enter the codes to get it to work with the equipment. Maybe I can but the instructions with it weren't really anything. I am not a big fan of the black buttons on the white, a different color would have been nicer.

Other Thoughts: I am very satisfied with the purchase. I am using it on Windows Vista Home Premium now.

5 out of 5 eggsXP no go

Pros: While I knew this was for Vista/MCE I thought I could get it to work with XP. While I could get the remote recognized I it never would respond to key-presses. The good news is MythTV loves this remote.. by winblows :)

Cons: The record button is flush as others mention, but even my fat fingers can press it without tools if I try hard enough.

Other Thoughts: For the price its worth every penny.

5 out of 5 eggsHighly Recommended

Pros: I wasnt sure what to expect based on the reviews but I couldnt be more pleased. For the price, it more than delivered. It learned my tv, cable, and logitech 5.1 remote. The response time from the remote to the selected device is quite fast. My last learning remote was an 8 yr old sony remote that i paid 90 bucks for when i bought it many years ago was great but a tad slow with the response time of commands. It works great with vista media center.

Cons: None i can think of though i do wish it had more devices it could control. I also wish it had a zoom button like their other model does but these things dont take away how great this remote is for the price.

Other Thoughts: Ive read how some people complained about the craftsmanship of the remote but its no worse than my official sony ps3 remote. Its lightweight and sturdy enough.
