Pros: Installed on Ubuntu 9.04, XBMC, HTPC without a problem, LIRC install "just works".

Cons: I would like to buy another receiver, for 2nd PC. But i don't think you can buy them alone :( doh!

Other Thoughts: This remote is RC-6 compatable, When installing it w/ LIRC configure it as a MCEUSB remote.

Note: Once it's working you can program a Universal Remote, to control the PC, i'm using a Harmony remote

Works with lirc, seems well-built...

Pros: Feels good in my hand, seems to be pretty sturdy, works well in Linux with lirc

Cons: I wish the volume buttons were a bit closer to the play/pause and navigation buttons. I have to shift the remote down in my hand to turn it up or down. It is contoured to fit in your hand with your thumb at about the "OK" and "play" button area. Not a huge deal.

Other Thoughts: I've only used this in Linux. I couldn't seem to get it working properly under Debian for some reason, even compiling it from source after the package didn't work for me. Probably operator error. It did work out of the box in Ubuntu after installing the lirc packages. Just choose "Windows MCE remote." I used the newer one, not the legacy MCE configuration. I've only used it in VLC, and it works without a hitch. Just make sure to create a .lircrc file in your home directory. You sill need to know the actual commands to properly configure this file. If you open a terminal and type "vlc --help -advanced" you can get a list of all the commands to put in the config lines. For instance, the entry for the play button looks like this:

# Pause playback
begin
prog = vlc
button = PLAY
repeat = 3
config = key-play-pause
end

PS - every button showed up when using irw. All the "Music," "Guide," "Recorded TV" buttons, etc. I have not used it in MythTV, but I hear it works great.

Pros: Works as listed.

Cons: New Egg messed up the shipping. They usually show what shipping carrier you are going to be receiving the item through on the invoice. However, this time they didn't and I ended up having to drive 20 miles to pick the product up.

Other Thoughts: New Egg gets 0 eggs for poor shipping arrangements. The product gets 4.
