1 out of 5 eggsDont buy

Pros: Good video quality

Cons: Doesn't have the capability of emailing motion detection via yahoo or google making it virtually worthless or security.
Wireless connection died within 3 months of usage. Only works through ethernet connection now.
These two items make this camera hardly better than a paperweight.

3 out of 5 eggsGood - if it's being managed by another product

Pros: For $40, it was a good deal. Straightforward setup, customizable settings for http/https ports, easy to position, works flawlessly with Synology products

Cons: Integrated features work unreliably, can make device unreachable via wireless. IE-only interface - beware non-windows users. Too flaky to pay full price.

Other Thoughts: I've seen the same problems that other folks have complained about, where it goes unresponsive or drops off the network periodically when on wireless - but does NOT occur when directly cabled through the rj45 jack. The network drops/device freezes coincided when I had the device set to motion capture through the Trend web interface. Even picking the device up and spinning in a full circle failed to trip the motion alarm, as well as doing a little jig in front of it. If you're buying this as your only home security device, I would strongly warn you away.

However, I bought this to use with a Synology NAS & their Security Station software, which performs the auto-capture and motion detect flawlessly on its own through its own software. Considering I grabbed this on sale for $40, and I bought it to work specifically through the NAS for home security, it's alright. I've captured the cats on my desk a couple of times so I know it's working.

But I have to knock a couple of stars/eggs off for the product in and of itself being a bit flaky for the features advertised. As a self-contained unit, it's crippled.

BTW - I'm currently running the latest firmware on the device as of this writing.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked for 5 mins

Pros: - Low cost
- IP enabled

Cons: Worked for 5 minutes then only displays white image. Tried reset, different computers, etc. No new firmware available. Camera has newer firmware than what is online. Tech support said they would respond in 48 hrs, did not.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks connected

Pros: When connected to the router or a system directly it works fine. Does motion detection and capture ok.

Cons: Wireless - no joy (already did the firmware upgrade - checked router, etc.) Other vendor wireless camera works no issue. This one will not connect.

Other Thoughts: If the wireless would work I would be much happier.

2 out of 5 eggsSo-So

Pros: Inexpensive. Fairly good wirelaess range.

Cons: Motion Detect sensitivity does not work. When motion detection is enabled, the camera sends hundreds of emails in just a couiple of minutes indicating a "motion event". The adjustment for the sensitivity of the camera appears to be non-functioning. Apparently, it's either all on or all off.

Other Thoughts: Will likley return to NewEgg.

1 out of 5 eggsI would give this 0 stars if I could

Pros: Makes a good web cam, but thats not what I was looking for.

Cons: Very poor instuctions, not intuitive at all. Will only work when connected to my computer. Does not work with my wireless network and won't even work when connected with an ethernet cable to my network. I know price is reasonable, but even at this price point, no one should have to invest hours of their time to install something such as this.

Other Thoughts: Do not buy.

Manufacturer Response:

Valued Customer,

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Please ensure to update firmware by using this link, http://www.trendnet.com/downloads/list_subcategory.asp?TYPE_ID=32&SUBTYPE_ID=1492, if applicable, and reset this camera to the factory default. 3 out of 5 eggsGood, but ...

Pros: Good picture quality, nice using it with the iPhone/iPad app

Cons: Impossible to set up for remote monitoring, won't work beyond my own network. And the motion detect either sends a continuous stream of images via email, or doesn't work at all. It shouldn't be this hard.

Manufacturer Response:

Valued Customer,

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. The TV-IP110WN can be set up for remote monitoring by using DDNS, and it can also stream images via HTTP, FTP or Email. Please contact us at sales@trendnet.com, reference "New Egg product review", and a Sr. engineer will contact you immediately. We look forward to working with you directly and restoring your faith in TRENDnet products.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Once you get it running, the menu's and options are all well explained enough to make the use of the product easy and reasonably trouble-free. Overall I'm pretty happy with this purchase.

Cons: The software absolutely requires you to use IE. If you don't have a computer that has IE that would definitely be a reason to look elsewhere.
Image resolution is a little low, but I knew that before purchasing the product.
Error messages are pretty bad in that they don't say anything useful.

Other Thoughts: If you use BitDefender 2012, you won't be able to use the software for some unknown reason (You won't get video from the camera)

5 out of 5 eggsno complaints

Pros: wireless N, easy to get going, white blends in well with wall.

Cons: wish it had a stronger antenna

Other Thoughts: overall pleased with camera. I have it mounted good distance away going through a think concrete floor actually and it connects well, however does frequently disconnect but i can't tell if its router or camera. I have a highpower buffalo router. however i ordered new asus n66u so we'll see if it works better. when i am ready to order more i would get this one again given its one of the lower costing ones out there.
