2 out of 5 eggsMotion Detection.. What a joke!

Pros: Easy set-up, nice functionality

Cons: No time-stamps, The motion detection simply takes a picture every interval, it doesn't detect motion at all, changing the location doesn't help, changing the sensitivity doesn't help, the camera emailed me 350 pictures of a blank chair in the course of two hours. What good is this!

2 out of 5 eggsTV-IP121WN V2.0R

Pros: Comes with Secureview Pro software 2.01.

Cons: I have 16 Trendnet TV-IPXXX cams, several 110s, 1 121w, 3 312w's, 2 312's and 2 422w's. This one has the worst picture of all the cams I have, the new version firmware is missing a very important feature which is time date stamp overlay on the 121wn 1.2.2 build 23 firmware. Video/Audio *Camera Overlay Setting is just gone!!!

Other Thoughts: Very unhappy with Trendnet's latest and greatest WN series. I am going to try to return it. NO MORE FOR ME if the time date stamp is gone, I don't want to have to run their software to do that, I want that choice to be in the cam so I can send a pic to the server or E-Mail video stamped, OR NOT!
The on board clock must just be for the on board log now.
We're Done....

Manufacturer Response:

Valued Customer,

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Please contact us at, reference "New Egg product review" and someone will contact you immediately to issue a v1.0R replacement which supports time date overlay while working on this feature in the v2.0R unit. We hope it’s acceptable resolution and look forward to working with you directly and restoring your faith in TRENDnet products.

Warmest regards,

TRENDnet Sales Team

1 out of 5 eggswhy is everything pink?

Pros: fast setup.. less than 5min

Cons: everything in the picture is a shade of pink.

Other Thoughts: the camera his minimal picture adjustment options. i can either have black and white (0 saturation) or various shades of pink (1 to 99 saturation). even a black jacket looks brownish pink at 30 saturation... RMA here we come this thing is junk. I don't care how easy or fast it is to setup; if the camera can't adequately reproduce colors in a well-lit room; what's the point?! such a shame too, this thing had real promise... ( and yes, I updated the firmware and no this did not change the picture quality)

3 out of 5 eggsFirmware upgrade required

Pros: Straightforward setup. Good build quality and features for the price. Free mobile app access - but see below.

Cons: Required a flash upgrade to perform documented functionality - direct URL access to the video feed & to work with their IOS app. Revision docs stated "security update".

Manufacturer Response:

Valued Customer,

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Due to an issue of a direct URL video feed, TRENDnet strongly recommends to update firmware for SecurView cameras. Please contact us at, reference "New Egg product review" and our Sr. technical personnel will help to explain. We look forward to working with you directly to restore your faith in TRENDnet products.

Warmest regards,

TRENDnet Sales Team

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for Baby monitor

Pros: After looking at 20 or so wireless cameras I came across this one which is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a baby monitor that I could use with my android phone so I can listen and check on our baby. Setup the camera just as the instructions said. then turned connected my android phone to my home wireless. Then installed Trendnet SecurView Mobile (free app in android market) and pointed it at the camera's IP. Works flawlessly. I'm still trying to decide if I want to nat it through the firewall so that I can access it anywhere but i'm not sure that I need that function. Maybe Later if I end up using the camera for security.

Cons: none so far.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy Peasy!

Pros: -Easy to set up. All you need to do is follow instructions and have a little knowledge of how your router is set up.
-Free iTunes and Android market apps. (Looks great on a Xoom!)
-Website viewer (more in other thoughts)
-One way audio. (really nice for a baby monitor)
-Infrared lens
-Motion detection system with event scheduling and email alerts.

Cons: SecurView Pro on the PC is kind of garbage. I just stick to the web browser when viewing on the computer.

Unfortunately to get the full functionality of the website viewer you need to use IE.

Other Thoughts: I've been looking for a good wireless webcam since I saw the price of standalone video baby monitors. ($150-$200) I went with Trendnet because I've purchased a few of their print servers and they work great. When I came across this one I liked the fact that it had the infrared lens since there are going to be times when my child will be in the dark. Some people gave this bad reviews because they were expecting to be able to see their whole backyard with this little guy (it's only rated for up to 5 meters for nightvision). Know this before you purchase if you are looking for something more!

While we all have our ideas of IE, it gives you a few more controls that you don't get in Firefox like 3x digital zoom and night mode toggling.

SecurView Mobile is a nice little app trendnet put out in the iTunes store and Android market. While you can't record video from the app, you can still listen with the one way audio and it's a perfectly viewable stream even on an iPhone or iPod touch.

3 out of 5 eggsUseless in the dark

Pros: Setup was quick (I used web setup)
Wireless 11n worked flawlessly
UI is responsive and seems stable
iOS viewer app

Cons: IR LEDs only effective out to 60cm (work at 850nm)
VGA resolution is limiting
Internet Explorer / ActiveX required for setup of alarm events
Runs warm
Power cable is only about 5ft / 160cm
Not PoE

Other Thoughts: This might work better with an IR floodlight but for the money , assuming you don't need wireless, I'd buy the TP-Link SC3430 and an IR Flood.

4 out of 5 eggsTrendnet Camera

Pros: Great Camera ! Works wired with very little problems.

Cons: Wireless is unable to connect even with the one-touch connection. This is why I had bought this product so I could monitor my backyard (it is useless unless I use a 250ft cord).Technical support ? Well I was chatting with a nice lady from a very poor connection in another country who you could hardly understand even with English.Hopefully I will get a USA bound support for this otherwise

Other Thoughts: I will have to RMA back to newegg which I really do not want to if I can not get wireless to work.
