1 out of 5 eggsJunk.

Pros: Powered USB Port

Cons: This camera worked ok for about 3 months and then started going out.
Router shows it still connected but blank picture. I have 3 more cameras by another brand that cost $69 and never give me a problem. Upon calling their "Tech Support" the first out of their mouth was "try it wired for a couple of days". I said I purchased a wireless camera for a reason and then he started blaming my network that trust me it is top notch and the camera sits about 15 feet away with 1 wall between. I will never by another trendnet product in my life.

Other Thoughts: Junk

5 out of 5 eggsamazing little camera for the money

Pros: We've owned several of these. They survive outdoors in New England. Snow, rain, heat cold, whatever. Still running after 3 years. Decent indoor night vision. PTZ works well.

Cons: Software could be better for remote viewing. App stinks and there's no instructions to link to cameras.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The sale price was right for a pan tilt camera. I see the price has now doubled.
Setup and networking was fairly easy.
The wireless feature works a good distance from my router. Better performance in that aspect than my Linksys wireless cam.

Cons: The tilt feature stops working when the camera is in the sun. I have the cam pointed out my picture window. On a sunny day, as soon as the temps hit around 80 outside, the camera gets so hot that the tilt motor just hums when activated. No movement. It does work fine once the sun is no longer shining on it.
Image quality (colors) is below average. No comparison to my Linksys security cam in this regards.
Night vision LED's don't seem to turn off, just get dimmer. They reflect off of my window in late evening.
No 1/4-20 thread for a tripod mount.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: It works. Simple to set up (use Ethernet cable direct to camera to begin) as long as you know which network to connect to. I only say this as I have two separate networks.

Cons: WTH is with the super short power cord? This is my main complaint, and rather important as i wanted to mount this from the ceiling of the porch, but the cord barely reaches 5'.
Trendnet needs to offer longer cords that allow the use of the camera. My only complaint, but a huge one for me.

Other Thoughts: This would be an awesome camera minus the stupid short cord length. one star taken for the cord. Everything else was sweet and simple.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: great value - $150, in January, from Newegg - set up was a bit challenging, like previous reviewer said, but I got it after several tries. It's been working for a couple months, now. I got a dyndns account for it. Droid app was a free download and connects quickly. Audio monitoring, good, too. I use it to watch the dogs in my den and kitchen. They sleep, mostly! Full controls are available on IE, only some of them on Firefox. Droid app limited to pan, tilt, and audio in and out.

Cons: Video quality adequate on the droid; very good on a pc. Talk-back capability (you have to plug in some speakers) doesn't work well -- It's too choppy to be understandable, but I didn't get it for that. it would have been fun to be able to tell the dogs to stop barking, though. It has what looks like a snapshot function on the droid, but I can't figure out how to use it. For $150 I won't take off an egg.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Bang for the Buck

Pros: Easy built-in web interface with a reasonable amount of configuration options. Works great with mobile phone software, but i did have to buy a 3rd party app for 4$ to unlock all the features. For a wireless PTZ it's a great deal for about 200$

Cons: Image quality isn't awesome, as mentioned in the Pro's I had to buy some software for my smart phone to really use it. Motion capture masks are not dynamic, if the camera moves it sets off the motion capture alert.

Other Thoughts: I gave it 4 Eggs because I'm very pleased with this unit in the end.

2 out of 5 eggsVery disapointed - no zoom

Pros: - Easy setup with clear instructions
- Comes with network cable
- Comes with wall wounting hardware
- Motion detection feature allows you to pick a specific area of the video feed.

Cons: This camera really doesn't have a zoom feature and that's the main reason I bought it. The web interface simply zooms the image making it very pixelated.
You can do the same thing with cameras that don't claim to have a zoom feature for half the price.

Other Thoughts: Already have an RMA and am sending it back.
I kinda feel cheated here since, in my opinion, this product is not as described (doesn't have a zoom).

Manufacturer Response:

Valued Customer,

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. This camera supports digital zoom as you describe. Please contact us at if not, reference "New Egg product review", and someone will contact you immediately for recommendation of optical zoom camera from TRENDnet. We look forward to working with you directly to restore your faith in TRENDnet products.

5 out of 5 eggsA great budget PTZ IP Cam.

Pros: The TRENDnet TV-IP422WN is exactly what I expected it to be. The PTZ function works perfectly along with the built-in web interface.

Cons: - The FPS (hovering around 5-15) could be a tad bit better.
- The resolution is a bit dated.
- Add a built-in speaker for 2-way communication and TRENDnet would have quite a product on their hands.
- The included security software for the SecureView Series

Other Thoughts: I bought this along 2 TRENDNet TV-121WN's. Viewing them all with the open-source software iSpy is great. Just bought two more 422WN's to increase the surveillance on the house.
