Quick Info

Read full details.
Pros: Once networked these allow remote access to your property. When the camera is in focus it produces a good picture for the resolution. It is not advertised as 1080P but on the bright side you don't need a server farm to archive your video. Low cost solution for the tech minded individual.
Cons: If you don't know networking these will probably upset you unless your willing to spend hours to learn how to set up.
Other Thoughts: You need a DNS server to view remote

Pros: Great picture quality – Works well during day and night. Those posting reviews about poor video quality probably did not read about setting the focus on the camera.
Cons: Software included is junk

Rating: 4/5Excellent Picture Day or Night
Pros: Excellent picture quality compared to my other TrendNet cameras, tv-ip312w. In either day or night mode, picture clarity is great. Easy to set up. Works as advertised.
Cons: The mounting bracket associated hardware is way too cheap! Can't even tighten it properly, you feel like you're cross threading it, then it isn't even tight.
Other Thoughts: You must use SecurView Pro version which, thankfully can pick up the tv-ip312w's, the reverse is not true. You cannot use SecurView to find these cameras, they just won't find them, even if you tell the software the ip location.

Manufacturer Response:
Valued Customer,
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We believe your camera is still under full warranty. We recommend to upgrade browser to IE6 or higher, and change the security settings on ActiveX to allow the ActiveX plug-in to be installed. Also, please enable "outdoor" mode and try if you still can have paperclip goes straight all the way inside. Please contact us at sales@trendnet.com, reference "New Egg product review" and someone will contact you immediately. We look forward to working with you directly and restoring your faith in TRENDnet products.
Warmest regards,
TRENDnet Sales Team

Pros: Image quality both in daytime and night vision is very good.
Cons: The ActiveX control required by the camera's built in web server software for the Motion Detect screen settings would not install, making the camera useless for security needs. I tried with both IE on XP (32 bit) and with IE9 on Win7 (64 bit). The ActiveX control gets blocked by Internet Explorer because the publisher cannot be verified. At TrendNet's suggestion I disabled my firewall and changed the ActiveX LAN and WAN security settings in Explorer so it would install the ActiveX control regardless of whether the publisher can be verified (IE threw up multiple caution alarms because of lack of protection) but it still failed to install. The confusing part is the publisher was identified by IE as the local IP address of the camera, e.g. 192.168.1.120, not TrendNet. The final straw was when they suggested I uninstall my browser (both machines?) and reinstall it. At that point I knew they were grasping at straws and it was time to pull the plug on this experience.
Other Thoughts: Note: I already have four TrendNet TV-IP110W's (they have had their own issue with failing to take a Snapshot) and one Foscam camera. I can remotely access them worldwide via my DynDNS account on a PC or my Android phone or tablet running TinyCam Pro. My point is I have plenty of experience setting up a security camera's needs for static IP, port forwarding and DynDNS requirements. I have 30 years of computer experience including that as a tech support manager and software developer.
