4 out of 5 eggsGets the job done

This review is from: D-Link DCS-930L Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, mydlink enabled

Pros: Cheap camera and does what I need it to do.
Easy to setup.

Cons: Motion detection can be a little too sensitive

Other Thoughts: I have installed it in a window to overlook my backyard while I am away from home. Setup was easy and painless. I plan on getting maybe 2 more to put around the house.

1 out of 5 eggsRubbish product

This review is from: D-Link DCS-930L Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, mydlink enabled

Pros: If it worked, it would be a fantastic product.

Humourous spelling and grammar in their Android software and user manual will have you on the floor laughing hysterically:
"For models that don't have no [Driect] button . . ." spelling mistake included
or my favourite:
"For wifi connection could be stable in the future, please choice wi-fi network with a powerful signal"

Cons: I used to like D-Link products . . . but I just bought a DLink DCS935L wifi security camera. What a piece of hit.

Nowhere near easy to install. It took multiple tries to get the Android App to see the thing. It just took multiple tries, including uninstalling it and reinstalling it, as well as trying on multiple phones. I finally got it working after about an hour. Beautiful. Then it asked to do a firmware update, which I stupidly agreed to.

It bricked it. Red lights on the back. As per the manual, using the paper-clip to do the firmware reset didn't work for several tries. Then I found that holding the DIRECT button while powering off/on with the reset paper-clip in place did the trick. Not documented.

Soooooo this managed to get it into rescue mode, which was a trial in itself. I downloaded the firmware update from the website, then used the very flaky rescue interface to upload a new firmware file.

This seemed to work at un-bricking it. However, it wouldn't connect from my Android phone anymore via the network, only in Direct mode.

Now it won't bind to the network, and the Android software crashes frequently.

Needless to say, it cannot locate ANY wifi networks, even though there are several within 20 feet of me. The computer, phone, etc. all see many networks. But the software doesn't.

What a piece of rubbish. Don't waste your time with this. By something from a manufacturer like LORAN that actually focuses on security, rather than an also-ran piece of hit that was added to the product line as an afterthought.

No attention to quality on any level.

Run from this product.

This review is from: D-Link DCS-930L Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, mydlink enabled

5 out of 5 eggsdlink rocks

This review is from: D-Link DCS-930L Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, mydlink enabled

Pros: great in-door camera. very easy setup to mydlink.

Cons: as i said easy to setup to mydlikn service is easy,
but a bit complicated for linking to other software and apps. i think the average person will be happy with the mydlink app but i need to see all my cam all at once so i use ip cam viewer for android. but this includes custom port forward in you router setup.

Other Thoughts: over all very happy with dlink i own 4 dlink 2 day/ night and 2 indoors
and a few other brands ...dlink always works no stop

4 out of 5 eggsI like them...

This review is from: D-Link DCS-930L Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, mydlink enabled

Pros: The camera's themselves are fairly thin if you want to remove them from the stands to make them easier to conceal. And once I figured out they needed a firmware update immediately out of the box, they were very easy to set up. The Iphone "lite" app and the Ipad mydlink+ app are both very easy to use and switch back and forth between cameras.

Cons: It took me a couple of hours before I realized the cams needed the firmware update. That was annoying. But my biggest stickler is the PC Software that you have to install if you want to view and/or record to your PC (and you can ONLY record to your PC, because the mobile apps will only let you take snapshots, no video, which is utter B.S.). It is bulky, and I constantly have to "validate" each days footage before I can replay it. And I have yet to get it to motion record on it's own, so I just set it to manual record and walk away each day.
The Main Viewer and Replay Viewer are full screen applications that you cannot resize. You can choose to look at multiple cameras at the same time, but you can't adjust the size of the application itself, which is annoying.

If they fix the mobile app not being able to record issue, I wouldn't care about the PC Application as much.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: D-Link DCS-930L Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, mydlink enabled

Pros: Easy to use/setup/access via the web. Color is good. Overall a nice camera

Cons: Early versions of firmware had some major bugs but they have since been fixed. Stand is a little cheesy.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Now

This review is from: D-Link DCS-930L Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, mydlink enabled

Pros: This is the updated review. I did what the D-Link rep told me to do and now it is working. Picture is good. I set it up using the user manual.

Cons: I had to wait a month to get a decent response on what to do to fix my problem. It takes the D-Link rep email over a week to get back to me. I had already tried resetting it but it didn't work before.

Manufacturer Response:

We want to thank you for the review and are glad to hear that we were able to resolve your issues. For future reference we suggest that you contact our technical support team for assistance by calling 1-877-453-5465. Thank you for being a D-Link customer.

1 out of 5 eggsOnly Certain Features Work

This review is from: D-Link DCS-930L Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, mydlink enabled

Pros: Looks nice, you can actually view it through the DLink app on a mobile phone whenever you want.

Cons: The motion detection is bugged. At first i was getting tons of emails but no pics. Then it stopped working. It keeps saying the PW is wrong but it isn't. I am working with Support but still no results. I will probably send it back.

Manufacturer Response:

We want to thank you for the feedback as we greatly appreciate the input and we are sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with the product. D-Link suggests that you factory reset the camera (by pressing the reset button with a paper clip for 10 seconds) and make sure you have downloaded and installed the latest firmware from www.support.dlink.com. If that does not resolve your problem feel free to contact our technical support team for assistance by calling 1-877-453-5465. Thank you for choosing D-Link.

1 out of 5 eggsCheap but does it work?

This review is from: D-Link DCS-930L Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, mydlink enabled

Pros: Low price

Cons: I am staring at a blank screen from both my iphone and my PC. Software bug? Hello Dlink?

Other Thoughts: It worked for a while. Now it only displays a blank screen.

Manufacturer Response:

We want to thank you for the feedback as we greatly appreciate the input and we are sorry to hear that you encountered issues with the product. d-Link suggests that you download and install the latest firmware from www.support.dlink.com.
