4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good value for the price at the time I bought it. Picture is clear in appropriate lighting, was easy to configure.
Works well with the free 3rd party recording software iSpy. (Haven't tried D-Link's service, because I want my videos stored locally, not on the internet)

Cons: Max of 20fps. Night vision is not great. Feature-set is basic and simplistic (that might be a pro for some people)

Other Thoughts: I use this in a window pointing out into the driveway. This setup makes the night-vision completely useless, as the glare from the IR LEDs it uses blinds the picture. This model doesn't have quite the feature-set or robustness of the cheapest Axis model, but it is half the price, so you get what you pay for.

2 out of 5 eggsA So-So Camera

Pros: Low cost, IR, easy remote access via MyDlink, and smartphone app.

Cons: Poor quality video, limited resolution, non-HD, high-degree of latency, audio is choppy, lacks a 'common' web u/i but does have some sort of web u/i that seems to use my PC as a proxy and can only be accessed from the MyDlink web site, the web u/i it does have doesn't function with Chrome and it doesn't stream video (shows only a snapshot). No pan or tilt capability.

Other Thoughts: The camera functions, which is better than I can say for the Foscam I just tried, but I have to place this at the bottom of the barrel for what it does, or doesn't do. The software interface is terrible - at one point I tried to install part of it and forcibly turned off UAC on my computer, didn't even ask me if I wanted it to do so. Arguments for/against UAC aside, software should prompt the user for that sort of thing. I don't like that I can't PING the camera's IP, and can't browse to it's web address. It doesn't appear to have it's own web server as most other network devices do - instead it relies on my PC to act as a web proxy and the only way to access the camera via a browser is to go to the MyDlink site which then opens a limited browser window with my PC as the address and a random port. I didn't have high expectations for a Dlink product but having worked with Panasonic and Axis IP cameras I just can't get it out of my mind the features and quality I expect. Just wish one didn't have to spend over $300 on a camera that performs at those levels.

4 out of 5 eggsfor the money. good

Pros: I don't know why so many reviewers are getting so many problems installing the camera. I think you don't read before installing and then blame it on the product. I took me 5 minutes to get it working another 3 to get it ready on the Sony SmartWatch (reason I bought)

Cons: Android app could have more options

4 out of 5 eggsWorking

Pros: Good picture and infrared. Nice to have with wired or wireless. I have deployed 7 of these in two homes.

Cons: Can't use audio because its so bad. Can't get motion sensor to work. Would have a use for this if it worked. Took forever to get it to work with my router (see other thoughts).

Other Thoughts: Finally got it to work wireless with the Linksys E4200(v2) router. Security on my router was set to WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode. Changing my router to WPA2 Personal fixed the wireless problem.

4 out of 5 eggsdecent cam

Pros: I wanted a cheap cam to connect to my wireless network, and this one fit the bill. I read all the negative reviews, but I thought I would give it a try. After finally getting the camera setup, it is actually working just fine. Quality is decent, and the software is pretty bad....but it does record on motion as I wanted.

Cons: Setup is painful. I have a linksys ea4500 router, and eventually I ended up getting it to connect by changing the wireless security to wpa2 personal instead of wpa/wep mixed (hope this helps someone). Software is terrible.....poorly programmed and it took forever to figure out. Having said that it does work in the end, it just takes a while to figure out how to do everything.

Other Thoughts: I am using this as a security cam with the software on my computer recording only on motion. I have it setup to dump the recordings every 7 days so it doesn't use too much space. Everything is working just fine so far (2 weeks).

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage...

Pros: Umm... it's good looking and worked well for first week or so.

Cons: Set-up was kinda complicated. Motion detection never worked due to some Java error, customer service is a joke. Every time it looses power you have to go on website and re-do all your setting including time, date etc. Constantly looses connection, or just goes off line so youhave to reset it and start over again. After about a month it just died, I got the replacement wich died in about same time.

Other Thoughts: I just gave up on it and got Dropcam. Let me tell is it's night and day!

3 out of 5 eggsOkay

Pros: Decent performance in wired network.

Cons: I have earlier versions of this cam. They didn't work wirelessly with the Linksys E4200(v2) Router then and still don't. I have no problems with any other WiFi devices regardless of vendor - but this one does not work with my router period.

Other Thoughts: D-link needs to consider compatibility as a means of improving sales. I would buy more if they worked right. As it is I had to attach to a power line network to use it.

5 out of 5 eggsHappy User

Pros: Simple setup. Resolution as expected. I am impressed with the night vision. Mounted in my outside garden I can pick up on conversations nearby as well. I can view from Ipad, cellphone or home computer.

Cons: I have to figure out how to record.

1 out of 5 eggsI tried and tried.....

Pros: As much as I tried to download the software for this cam.....no soap...unable to down load it and make it work....I have Windows 7 so that was not the problem....I just had to give up and return it....it was a good deal if it worked since it included a free D Link Router....but so it goes...

Cons: The cons are in the pros...there were no pros only cons....sorry to say this....

Other Thoughts: Newegg.com helped me with the flawless return.....I can't fault them at all.
