Pros: Camera has a good picture, pans and tilts well. App for phone handles watch the camera from out side the house.

Cons: Somewhat dificult to set up wireless access.

Other Thoughts: Support was great. I sent an Email one day and the next day I had a call from support( AR004202) this young lady was real sharp. With in minutes she had the camera working with my wireless network. I would recommend D-Link to anyone who wants great support and a great product. I felt bad that I missed some key router inserts on the D-link site but feel great that the support was behind me.

Pros: This small device was inexpensive and easy to set up (took 15 minutes). Works on my iPhone and PC for remote viewing. Complements my existing security system nicely. Highly configurable.... just ordered another one.

Pros: sturdy, software support, easy to configure, the MyDlink website, strong wireless signal, everything you need in the box. Advanced settings will make you proud...

Cons: pretty large - to the point of bulky, not - nondescript, you know its recording you, the IR sensor does not shine well through windows. But no overall deal breakers

Other Thoughts: the website is really handy, it is able to get to the cameras from the website, it sends email notifications. You can configure motion detection. Its a well crafted piece of tech.

Cons: Slow to respond. 1-2 second delay before moving/pan/tilt.
I originally used the Synology Surveillance center system to evaluate which works well. Then I tried with the Dlink own software. I would recommend setting up each camera with the setup program fully then use it with other systems if you like. They will work independent from each other.
The reason I say this is because the Dlink software is NOT smart enough to know that all you need to do is associate a camera with your dlink account. so you have to go through the whole setup again. i ran into some glitches, slow Dlink system and webpage response. When you do that then everything is OK. There is a myDlink app for Ipad and a lite version for the iphone. The ipad version is $0.99. I bought it to see if it was any better than tthe lite ans I really cannot see one except it you have other dlink stuff like a NAS then you can integrate those into one app.
The app will connect though your online account or it will find cameras in your local network, so you can select how to view your cameras - network-wise.
Audio works but you need to update your firmware to get it to work properly

Other Thoughts: Dlink has an opportunity to make an excellent product. If they are able to make their interfaces work faster, they will do very well with their IP cameras. As o3/2014 a new system upgrade will happen 4/2014. Anxious to see what will happen and i hope it will make the system respond faster.

Pros: I was looking to get a decent camera system not at an expensive price. Saw these go on sale, bought 2. Used the Windows setup and it took not much time, had to refresh looking for wifi system x1 before the software saw my wifi. Once it was on the wifi I stopped.
I have a DS1812+, and synology reports this camera compatible with their system and their surveillance station software. Used the surveillance station setup, saw the IP camera almost immediately, went through setup and VOILA we are viewing.
YOu get the option of resolution to view/ record. I selected 640just to see how it was. Video is pretty clear, camera video has minimal lag and you can see everything. i will select this mode since I will be doing continuous recording to the DS and the resolution to storage amount is fine.
Why did I say it could be better? The pan and tilt have a 1-2 second lag. you need to click the direction and wait till it responds. Not very smooth. Other than that I am pretty satisfied with the quality and utility/useability.

I use the synology iOS software on my iPhone and iPad and I can see live video instantly. I cal also take a snapshot on demand with my iOS device.

DLink webpage has software for Windows and Mac. It says Win7, I used Win8 with no issues.

Cons: Slow pan tilt.

Other Thoughts: Cost effective video surveillance and good compatibility with Synology Surveillance station software.

Pros: Decent Camera (bought 2 just a little over one month ago) - but my current cameras (starting to die out now) were ABS and they were purchased in 2009. I like the ability to pan and tilt from my iPhone, listen in to noise level and respond back thru the camera.

Cons: The focus leaves a lot to be desired. I couldn't find a way to focus it except by manually turning the focus ring on the camera. If there is a way please let me know. So having the scene that I want to capture, means either having someone help me at the big screen or viewing on my iPhone.

Other Thoughts: The 720 is not something that I see much value in so, future purchases will probably be the cheaper model (also bought 2 a month ago), the 5020L which is a good basic camera. One other issue is wifi connectivity. If your wifi goes down or you need to reset it it, you need to connect one camera to via cat 5/6 and then all cameras are all connected. I'd keep one near your router.

Pros: Feels like good quality hardware.

Cons: DLink "support" is all talk and no action. They made a public show by responding to my previous 2 star review here, what they have not done is respond at all to the customer service ticket CSP14024012 I created before posting my previous review.

I've checked my inbox and my spam folder every single day. No response from them.

I went back to the mydlink website today to see what the status of my ticket was, and guess what? There is no way to view status of a customer support ticket on mydlink - because you can't create an account to log in if their junk software can't find your camera!!!

So they give you a CS ticket # that you can do absolutely nothing with because of the Catch 22 they've created.

DLink has lost me as a customer. It's sheer idiocy to require that their software work properly before I can even create an account to track the software problems I've encountered.

Pros: Well built camera; nice long power cord, picture is truly HD when using the D-ViewCam™ Surveillance Software, very "automatic" in finding itself on the network which is great on a "dynamic" router connection

Cons: I didn't buy more at the discounted price!

AND-- the CD had a huge scratch on the back of it which prevented it being read correctly. Had to piece meal installation with software downloaded from Internet connection but still got it working -- without waiting for a new disk.

Other Thoughts: The camera was shipped promptly by Newegg and the price was excellent. The only glitch was that damaged CD.

The Remote Control is kind of flimsy but works when you press hard enough. Using the remote movements are not as smooth as when using the D-ViewCam Surveillance Software. It quickly finds the necessary network info once plugged into your network with the provided cable. Once set up (and new firmware installed) with the cable attached, when the cable is disconnected one can then use it via wireless mode (needless to say the network wireless password info has to be entered.

Overall I am very pleased with the camera even though it would have been A LOT EASIER had that CD not been damaged. Having seen the quality of video and the ability to view "remotely" I wish I had bought more at the discounted price and will be watching closely for future possible bargain prices.

Pros: Seems like good hardware. It feels solid, and the video looks quite good. Nice long power cord. The white parts are very white and the black parts are very shiny black.

Okay, I'm out of good things to say about it. Stand by for the "Get off my lawn!" part.

Cons: Some really bad software and processes. Multiply cursed by:

It triggers the "This application may not have installed correctly" errors from Windows 7 every single time the "wizard" app exits. Not confidence inspiring if you're relying on it for security.

It has the full complement of Java security warnings/errors associated with the most recent version of Java (7u51) simply because they don't sign their applets. You'll have to lower your Java security settings to their lowest setting if you don't want to be annoyed every time you use the web interface. Good luck to you if you don't use Java professionally like I do, because the contortions involved in getting rid of the warnings can be excruciating depending on your setup.

You can't create a mydlink account unless "wizard" software can locate the camera.

If you cannot create a mydlink account then you cannot use the Android app

After more than one hour of fiddling around I still cannot get their "wizard" software to recognize the camera. It doesn't matter if the camera is on the wifi or plugged into the router with the supplied cable, it doesn't see it.

That's pretty strange considering that I'm connected to the camera through its web interface and from my browser I'm able to configure the camera, monitor the video, and I even successfully upgraded the firmware on it.

I've run the "wizard" software on 3 different computers, and on each one I've connected the camera to the wifi and then to the router using the supplied cable. After connecting it, I confirmed that the camera is present by browsing to it in Firefox or IE. It always works. The "wizard" software never finds the camera.

I opened a customer service ticket with them, if I get the "Are you sure it's plugged in?" response, back in the box it goes.

Other Thoughts: The only reason it's not in the box and on the way back already is that I've got other Dlink products and I really like them. The hardware is good quality and I've never had one of their network cards, routers or APs fail on me even after many years of use.

I've never had to interact with their application software, so the level of crapitude took me by surprise.

It doesn't help the level of annoyance that they don't have native level English speakers translate the strings in their software. If they're going to force users to have to deal with technical issues/details just to get a stupid account created, they should at least do them the courtesy of translating stuff like "...configure your IP Camera with IP address matched your network settings." using The King's English :\

I'll post an updated review if I'm ever able to get it fully working.

Pros: Newegg shipped it fast, great packaging. Camera appears to be well built and functioned extremely well when on a wired network connection.

Cons: Wireless operation extremely difficult and troubleshooting was a nightmare due to lack of documentation. I have a D-Link DIR-850L router. I assumed using another D-Link "Cloud" product with it would be simple. After 2 hours of trying to get these two to work together I gave up. It would not find my wireless network in the setup wizard, and would only connect via WPS. But shortly after getting a successful WPS connection, the camera power and network LEDs began to flash. I could not find any information regarding these flashing LED's but after that started I could never connect to the camera again via wifi.
It shouldn't be this difficult and I have already shipped the camera back to newegg.

Other Thoughts: Once registering my camera with D-Link, and configuring it via ethernet, I was alerted that the camera firmware should be updated. I followed the instructions and successfully updated the firmware to the latest version. While this took a bit longer than I expected, it was relatively painless update. But the camera setup wizard never found my wireless network, or any of my neighbors at anytime during multiple setup attempts. WPS was the only method I could use to connect and that didn't last very long.

I really wanted to use this router camera combo for the simplicity it advertised. I have setup many networks, wired and wireless and have rarely been this frustrated by a product. Maybe it was defective, and I only hope that was the case. Otherwise D-Link will see many more returns of this camera. The user manual should have a section that defines what the LEDs flashing mean, but I found nothing in the manual, their forums or searching the internet.

Too bad, the mydlink site looked to be useful for my purposes, but could only get everything to work for maybe 10 minutes before the errors began.

Make sure that when connecting via WPS, press and hold the WPS button on the camera for five seconds. The WPS status LED should start to blink. After that, press the WPS button on your Cloud Router within two minutes. After this, go to and log into your account. . Once Mydlink detects your camera a notification “New Device Found!” will appear in the bottom-left corner. Click on the camera from the New Devices list and then click “Yes” to add your camera. Regarding the statuses of the LEDs, refer to page 13 of the user manual. In your case, if the flashing LEDs are green, it means your camera is monitoring. If the flashing LEDs are blue and it blinks in 1 second intervals, it means the WPS setting is ongoing. If it is blinking in 0.1 second intervals it means the WPS connection failed or on standby.
