Pros: Very nice image and sound. Easy to setup, and install. I also like the Android app, it's very easy to manage multiple cams.

Cons: Maybe consider making these cams with PoE's (though I'm sure dlink has more expensive IP Cams that use PoE). Nothing else. Good cam!!

Pros: This cam has email alerts, uploads to FTP, DDNS, Audio detection, and a wi-fi range extender all rolled up in one. This is perfect to monitor an area of my home so I can see who comes through the back or front of the house. I have a few more dlink cameras to watch the entrance doors too. Works perfectly and the additional features mentioned before are pretty slick. The range extender sends wifi signal far enough to another camera in my detached garage completing a very nice package. After 7 months of ownership, I had my first hiccup. I called technical support and immediately spoke to Dlink's Operator ID: 4238, and she was very friendly, knowledgeable and sorted out the issues very quickly for me. Back on track now and overall very happy with the product, service, online site, and the app.

Cons: None. You get great features for the price.

· Very clear night vision for the resolution provided - In some instances, especially when the camera is pointed at a situation that has a hotspot, the night mode, produces a better picture than day mode and you will get more detail in the image. I consider this a very good feature.

· Motion/Sound Detection is awesome, Hooks up to your FTP server and saves images or video captured as a result of it being set off. (Watch out bad guy!) It also allows you to focus on a specific part of lens for detection. For instance, if you have the camera farther away from a door and want to have the camera to start recording if that door is open then just select that part of the video feed to be the trigger, if there is a window nearby to you can do the same thing, more than 1 spot for it to be triggered. Very easy to configure this feature and easy to link up to Arvixe FTP Server.

·Scheduled times for day/night camera or motion/audio detection. I think it's awesome that you can have it automatically switch to these features based on hours of operations, etc.

· Wifi Extender feature is always a big plus. I wish it was a dual band extender for 5 Ghz but again for the price, I understand this. It's still Wireless-N.

Cons: · Requires Java to be installed, Very Annoying browser allowance messages as result. Firmware update stopped it from detecting Java in Internet Explorer, Works great in Firefox after update however.

·480p resolution only - however for price I understand. I would have preferred 720p or 1080p.

·Zoom is digital zoom which result in pixilation which a useless feature as a result in my opinion because you can't make anything out if it's distorted like that.

· I could not get the Zero Configuration feature to work. The provided software could not find the DCS-933L on the network to automatically make it work. I had to do the manual method to configure the camera (WPS Button + Follow the IP Address to get to the controls/view feed). Also the IP Address in the book says it will be 192.168.1.20 however mine was 192.168.1.216 by default.

· Absolutely have to use their cloud software in order to use it via smartphone application, which requires registration and giving them your information.

Other Thoughts: I think for the price it has a lot of features. Full MSRP leaves me desiring a higher resolution and optical zoom but when it is on sale I would say do it. I am excited to have this in my possession and will be using this for security at my home.

Pros: I found the D-Link DCS-933L Cloud camera to be pretty good at the general purpose it was intended for. That is connect to the internet via a browser or smartphone/tablet
app in order to check up or keeps tabs on things remotely. The camera comes with the camera itself, flat style Ethernet cable, power adapter, small quick install guide, and drywall mount screws. No installation media is included, but the guide directs you to the Mydlink Support site to download the Setup Wizard. The wizard is very
straight forward and as long as you follow the instructions you will be up and running pretty quickly. You will have to create a MyDlink account, but this is also very
straight forward and easy to do. I downloaded the Android MyDlink Lite app and was ready to go in no time. The app is very simple, easy to use, and quick to connect to the camera. I've set this in several locations and can see where anyone could have dozens of uses for this product.

In order to get to some of the more advanced features of the camera, you can connect to the built-in webpage on the camera itself from your local network. This is
similar to configuring a standard consumer router with a familiar layout. You will want to note the IP address of the camera when you went through the wizard in order to
access the cameras page and the password you created. Once I was able to access the camera's built in webpage, most of the settings are pretty easy to figure out if you have some technical knowledge. I would suggest downloading the User Manual on the MyDlink Support site for the camera where the other support files were located. The guide is really good and was able to answer a majority of my questions on setup.

If you want to use the camera for more of a security purpose and record video, DLink also has a free D-ViewCam software avaliable on the Support site. This allows you to control and record from multiple cameras in a security system type interface. The Infrared night vision works pretty well and is visible to about the 15 feet in darkness as advertised. The built-in WiFi extender will give you a little extra range out of your existing wireless signal, which could be helpful if you needed a little extra range. It also has a motion and sound detection that you can setup and will send you a notification email when it is tripped

Cons: I think the camera offers a lot for the price, however, some of the advertised features were just not executed as I would have liked to see. Many of them are also available only in the camera's built in webpage or by using the D-ViewCam software as opposed to the MyDlink Cloud site where most people will use this product.

The motion and sound detection features sounds like a great feature, however, I found them to be a bit of a let down since the only option through the MyDlink site is to send an email if it detects a motion or sound. There is an option on the device website to email images or a very short video, but you need an SMTP mail relay to direct this to and is not an available option though the MyDlink settings or Cloud services.

The live camera view on both the built in web page of the camera and the MyDlink site use JAVA. I tested with both Firefox and Internet Explorer and the Java security window is a constant nuisance. It pops up a number of times each time I go to a page to view the camera. I have yet to find a way to suppress this, though, I think it would en-tale lowing security settings a great deal.

The IR LEDs turn on and off with a very loud relay click. I am not sure why this is necessary or if every other camera with IR LEDs is similar, but I found this very odd. If you are keeping tabs on things and using this in a "security" type fashion, you may not want to draw attention to the camera when it goes in or our of night mode.

Other Thoughts: I have mixed feelings about this product. I think the MyDlink Cloud services is really kinda cool and is easy to navigate and use the camera remotely. Minus the annoyance of the Java security popup in the browser, I am pretty impressed with the site and its ease to get me connected to the camera. The smartphone app is very simple and quick to connect to the camera. If your main goal is to find a camera that is easy to setup that you can access remotely via an app or browser, then this is a great choice.

My disappointment comes when I start to look at the other features the camera has and how they are not integrated into the MyDlink Cloud services. I'd like to see more of the available options put into the cloud so I can manage the camera from one place or at least get to most of the option this way. I also think the Web interface may be to challenging for a novice user.

Pros: see's in the dark / good color picture -- I can view my home while away. Gives me piece of mind -- No monthly service charge -- app works great on phone or tablet.. running 2 cameras total cost little over hundred bucks -- wireless or cable --

Pros: This is my first real experience with wireless webcam/security/cloud cameras, so I should have read the directions prior to using it. I could have saved myself some problems. I will say most of those problems were caused by my lack of experience in this area coupled with failure to read first, install second.

I downloaded the Windows setup Wizard and D-Viewcam software from mydlink.com. I had no problem whatever using the setup wizard to install and configure my camera, and get live audio and video from the new account I setup at mydlink.com. That process was very easy and painless.

The video and audio worked perfectly for me using IE10, Firefox and Chrome. I also used Opera 12, and was greeted with several messages that told me I was using an unsupported browser. That said, I was able to close those warning messages and proceed in every instance, eventually gaining live audio and video thru Opera 12. The advanced functions like taking snapshots did not function under Opera 12, but I do not count anything off for this because D-Link makes it very clear that Opera is not really supported.

Using the other browsers mentioned above, I had no problem taking snapshots and saving them to a folder on my computer. They were quite satisfactory. Night vision worked better than I had expected, but as others have mentioned, has limited range. I think the stated range of 15 ft. is pretty accurate. The clarity of the audio amazed me. It is very sensitive.

This all worked the same for me on W7 64 bit, and Vista 32 and 64 bit operating systems. I was also able to access and use the camera with the supported browsers thru an old W XP Pro 32 bit computer I still use, but understandably things were not as responsive on this system as they were on my newer, more powerful computers.

Additionally, once I got the D-Viewcam software installed and the DCS-933L manually installed, all functions worked properly for me on W7 64 bit and W Vista 32 and 64 bit. This includes recording audio and video, and the Pan/Tilt/Zoom functions. I was somewhat amazed how much real estate I could cover using the P/T/Z functions at a distance of about 75 feet or so. I was able to record and playback video pretty easily. D-Link does suggest you save video to a different hard drive than where the D-Viewcam software is installed in order to achieve best performance. I did this using the settings in the D-Viewcam software.

I was able to take my laptops outside and still connect to and view the video and audio on the DCS-933L with minimum lag.

I did not use the range extender feature for long, because that did bog everything down. This can possibly be fixed through some configuration changes, but I did not need it so I just turned it off.

Cons: My only cons came when trying to install and use the D-Viewcam software. If you are a novice in this area of tech as I am, do yourself a favor and read the directions first. Winging it did not work well for me. YMMV. The problems I had here are mostly my fault.

Once I gave up and read the directions I was able to manually install the DCS-933L. For whatever reason, the automatic camera detection and installation never worked for me. To get the proper IP Address for the camera, I had to go into my router's configuration page, write down the address, and manually enter all information to have the camera recognized.

The D-Viewcam software worked well for me on all the operating systems mentioned above except for W XP Pro 32 bit. I could get to the place in the install where I was trying to add the camera manually, just like I did with all the other OS I mentioned, but at this point the D-Viewcam Software always crashed, reporting an unspecified error. I gave up after several tries as I had no intentions of really using this camera/software on my XP machine.

Other Thoughts: I rated myself pretty low on experience in this area, because that is just the reality of the situation. I may possibly buy a few more of these cameras in the future. Not sure right now.

But overall I like it, and see real possibilities for building a home surveillance system with recording and playback capabilities around these cameras so long as top notch night vision isn't a priority.

Pros: I tested the D-Link Cloud Camera 1150, also known as the D-Link model DCS-933L day/night network/WIFI camera.

Common uses for this camera would be as a baby, or a pet monitor, or for security use to monitor a room, or a yard area. Since this camera is only designed for indoor use, you would need to place it inside a window looking outside to monitor your driveway, or back yard for example.

Because this is a cloud camera you can monitor what your pets, or child care providers are doing while you are away, using either a desktop/laptop PC, or an Android/iPhone smart phone.

With an Internet connection the camera can beam its live video to a D-Link provided cloud site. D-Link provides this site access free of charge. This way you could be anywhere in the world and as long as you had Internet access, you could take a peek and also listen at what was going on at home.

It has a built-in microphone that was quite sensitive in my testing. See my sound listening examples under Other Thoughts below:

It also has a RJ-45 network socket to attach a patch cable to for the initial WIFI setup.

It has the ability to auto-switch from color mode to monochrome mode and to switch on a set of infrared LED's to light up the dark.

You can program the camera's software to email you either a video clip, or a still picture of what is happening at various time intervals. This feature worked well.

You can also program it to detect motion over its entire field of few, or only selected square sections. Very nice!

It can also be set to trip whenever a preset db noise level occurs. For example naughty kittens knocking things off on to the floor, or jumping on the kitchen table.

No software CD is provided. Instead you are directed to download the latest version from D-Link's support site.

It can also act as a WIFI signal booster. I already have a WIFI booster, so I did not test this feature.

Flash updating the internal firmware was easy to do.

The D-Link installation software worked very well and other than some technical aspects, was easy for me to install and setup. If you know how to setup a WIFI router, you should be fine, otherwise you may need to call in a technically inclined friend to help with the initial camera setup.

Cons: I think D-Link should consider converting their software to use another programming language besides Java. When I typed the camera's IP address into my browser to view the output from the camera, I always got one or two annoying Java security warnings, that I had to click "no" on to get past them. Current Java based security exploits are also a concern for me.

The camera loses its date/time setting whenever you disconnect the power cord. This inconvenience can be mitigated by setting it to automatically go out and get the correct time from an Internet time server.

Color quality was not very accurate. My Russian Gray kitten looked black even under fairly bright room light. Most colors were dull and muted looking.

The instruction manual was minimal at best and was printed in a small font size. Good software prompts and good built-in help support mitigated this issue for the most part.

The camera did not work with my work-provided Blackberry smart phone. It did work with a friend's Android phone. Hopefully D-Link can add Blackberry support soon.

Although it uses a standard size security camera power connector, it requires 5 VDC at 1 Amp, versus the more common 12 VDC used by most security cameras. The power cord is about 6 Ft long, so you may need to use an AC extension cord.

Other Thoughts: I thought the built-in microphone was very sensitive. Since I had a set of eager test subjects, I set the camera up to monitor my two kitten's food bowls, that were placed on top of a chest freezer in our kitchen, My 12 week old orange tabby kitten likes to purr when he eats and the camera was able to easily pickup that subtle sound in a quiet room, from about four feet away. Impact noises like kittens play fighting with each other and banging into things, were also easily heard. Deep sounds like them thumping up and down our wooden steps were not picked-up as well. They have a ball in a ring game down a flight of stairs in our family room and the D-Link could easily pickup the sounds of the kittens batting that ball around from a distance of over 35 feet away.

Other audio examples: You could hear if water was left running in the kitchen sink, or if a pot was left boiling on the stove. The sound of opening a can of soda was easily picked-up from over 50 feet and three rooms away. The sound of my furnace blower kicking on was also noticeable as a background hum. Loud appliances like a dishwasher running would naturally drown out the more subtle sounds.

I recommend that you select a fixed IP address for the camera above your router's normal DHCP range, to avoid having to continually search for the camera's DHCP IP address. You can also bookmark a fixed IP address. It will also show up as a UPnP device, if that service is enabled in your router and in your computer's firewall.

The camera's internal web software supports: 1x, 2X, 3X & 4X zoom modes. Which all worked good. The downloadable D-Link D-ViewCam software was commercial quality camera monitoring software like a business would use. It could monitor up to 32 different cameras and support up to 64 users. This software can record the output of up to 32 IP security cameras and save it to a local or network hard drive. I did not get a lot of time to work with this application though, due to being on vacation.

I have to admit the more I worked with the D-Link Cloud camera and got to know its abilities, the more impressed I was with what it could do. I think at the current $99.99 price point (when I reviewed it), it's a little on the pricey side given the limited resolution and color quality. However the built-in web site and Internet cloud software that D-Link includes is a great value add. I personally would probably favor a camera with motorized pan and tilt capabilities, if I was going to use it as a home or small business security camera. But for a home or baby crib monitor it is ideal!

Other Thoughts: if you want inexpensive way to watch your house -- this is it -- I considered Fios -- but way to much -- then monthly fee -- so and investment for 2 cam's -- a little over 100 bucks -- you can't beat it

Other Thoughts: I have a good back ground in networking so to start out with I tried to set this device up manually. I got it up and running some what but the problem is I couldn't access it outside my home network even after forwarding ports. So I reset the unit and tried my luck with the mydlink software and fared much better. The software actually surprised me how it detected my network(which is a little more advanced then most) and set itself up effortlessly. I made an account on the D-Link site which was quick and painless and before I knew I was viewing it on my phone with the D-Link App. Pretty simple to set up and easy for the average Joe. Would I recommend for a home security system?... No, but it would work for a baby monitor or something like that. The reason being I could not figure out how to get it to stream video to my server or get it to email me pictures. But if you wanted just to keep an eye on a location periodically through your phone or PC it works just fine. BTW the night vision works just fine inside my house.
