3 out of 5 eggsBuggy firmware

Pros: Wifi, FTP, email, sound, motion detection, scheduling

Cons: Positioning motor is noisy for mic.

Sometimes switches to 15fps when set to 30fps.

Requires Java for live video.

Java applet is poorly written. If you access the camera via a web proxy, everything works except the live video!

Firmware is also poorly written. Daylight savings doesn't work for southern hemisphere time zones. (Some DLInk routers have the same problem!)

Firmware has strange inconsistencies. If you schedule images to upload via FTP, you can choose whether to create subdirectories on the server and what to name them, yet if you schedule video, there are less options and it will send them all into multiple subdirectories whether you want that or not.

Other Thoughts: Good quality for the price, but the pile of little bugs in their software are annoying, especially when they could be so easily fixed.

4 out of 5 eggsD-Link DCS-5010L- nice for small application

Pros: for the cost.... great pic, great controls, wireless works real well, remote access is a big selling point for me. i can see my location from my phone or work. ftp and email setup was not difficult. great feature to save offsite. sound quality is very good.

Cons: my only real knock on these cameras is the motion detection feature. its not really motion based. i believe its light sensitivity. so you will get many false alarms. Once you figure out the pattern of sensitivity you get used to the email notifications that are just false alarms. customize it is all i can say. it takes some tweaking.

Other Thoughts: taking the price into consideration its a great camera and monitoring system. good for beginners to intermediates. if you want something with superb quality go else where. if you need a real pro system go else where. if you need a simple system to monitor a home or even small business without spending alot of money or getting to complicated in terminology and networking then this might be for you. if running wires is a problem in a home then consider this system. ( keep in mind you need a good wireless router/device to broadcast your wireless signal). i run 3 and am very happy with it.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works like a charm. Easy set up. 640x480 resolution is clear as possible.

Cons: A little difficulty in initial set-up in making it so camera could be viewed remotely (following directions for use with non-D-Link router did not work for this). After 3 set up s though it's working great (using Dynamic IP instead of static thus far). Also remote control through "mylink" website allows for slow and challenging movement of webcam.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes the job

Pros: Does exactly what it says it will do. No more no less.

Cons: It looks like darth vader's head. Also, if they could cut the size in half. Its a little big to have on your living room wall.

Other Thoughts: Need to make it smaller so if someone breaks in they dont see it. Or if they cops unlawfully enter your home they dont see it either.

4 out of 5 eggsFantastic Camera

Pros: Pan/Tilt/Zoom, remote and local access and the ability to toggle night vision

Cons: Night vision/IR mode lets visible light show from ring, would prefer it was invisible

Other Thoughts: Great camera for the price when I picked it up for $69 on sale. I have 2 of these and 2 930L models for my home security.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent camera

Pros: Do yourself a favor and download the app setup from Dlink. If you are using Apple product, the setup is pretty straightforward. No messing around with port forwarding or secondary no-ip, or dyndns nonsense. Dlink takes care of this through their portal. And through the portal you will be able to access your camera's native portal (looks just like their router portal - for those who are familiar with their routers).

Cons: Only complaint I have is that panning the camera is not a smooth operation via the dlink portal. It requires you to keep pressing the arrow after release. The camera pans in increments.

secondly it is an 80 bucks camera. I don't understand why some of my fellow reviewers are expecting 1000 dollar performance in their security setup. Excellent performance calls for expensive equipment - just saying….
This is simply for fooling around…and learning.

Other Thoughts: Great IR. In a pitch black room, I get a decent resolution. Buy this camera on sale. Paying full price is foolish.

1 out of 5 eggsDON'T BUY, False advertisement !!!

Pros: I can view my camera from my computer in both LAN and WAN.

Cons: My D-Link Lite app doesn't work on both my iPhone 5s and Samsung galaxy NOTE3. The mobile app can view the camera for the first 2 weeks, that's all, it stop working afterward. The mydlink lite app always show this error message: "The video stream from your device was lost. please try again. (0.70_1_5_5_3F4)". I submitted the ticket online at https://www.mydlink.com/contact, case # CSP14010499, I received the email confirmation, but no reply from Dlink tech support regarding this ticket. I can't reply to the email because it's generated by automatic system from "notification@mydlink.com", and the bottom of the email says "This e-mail message was sent from a notification-only address that cannot accept incoming e-mail."

I called Dlink support at (877) 453-5465, they can't find that online case #. So they created a new case for me, case # C6404540 , still no one give me a call back, and the mobile app still not working!!!!! No techsupport or customer service at all, Dlink is not backing up their products!!!!!

My gmail keep receiving this email from my Dlink account in the subject of: mydlink alert:Dlink-DCS-5010L - Device Disconnected.

Dlink advertised as "access anywhere with iOS, Android and Windows phone mobile apps, you can access your device on-the-go". This is a false advertisement statement!!!!!! Put the phrase on google "The video stream from your device was lost. please try again" then you will how many complaints!!!!

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad for what I paid

Pros: PTZ works just fine. Small lag to be expected. Mounts anywhere with supplied mounting bracket. Installed easy and setup wasn't difficult. Works with WPA TKIP. Very similar setup to Cisco SMB low res wifi cameras if anyone else has them. Got it on Black Friday for $49. Pretty good for a $50 camera w/ PTZ.

Cons: Runs same processes as Cisco WVC2300 so you cannot run both Main Consoles simultaneously. Made of all plastic which makes it seem less sturdy. Not great res even for a 640x480, not as good as the WVC2300 of same res.

Other Thoughts: I would buy another. Like I said, they aren't the best cameras in the 640 res range, but they hold their own and have PTZ which most don't.

5 out of 5 eggsBIGGG IMPROVEMENTS

Pros: Pan, Tilt, 480p, night vision, Phone App, Wireless.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: When I first got these cameras, I felt I made a mistake. The myDlink site was always down for maintenance. The picture was awful etc. After extensive work by Dlink, My picture is 480P and the new MyDlink site is incredible. For this price, I feel like I stole them.
