5 out of 5 eggsThese are better than expected

This review is from: D-Link DCS-932L/2Q Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, Night Vision, Mydlink Enabled (2 PACK)

Pros: • wifi enabled, so is great for places where it would be difficult to run a data cable
• has ethernet port if you want to hard wire
• night vision works well (as long as you don't try it through glass!)
• microphone picks up audio well (see cons for more on this)
• iPhone app so I can quickly and easily monitor from anywhere
• lightweight and easy to attach to wall with two small screws
• Fantastic price! ($40 ea.)

Cons: • resolution/clarity a little low, but completely acceptable for a cam in this price range
• power cord kind of short (maybe 3 feet?), so limits placement options or requires use of an extension cord
• audio has some static, which becomes more pronounced when you turn up the volume, but it picks up surprisingly well. When my dog is eating, I can hear her crunching on her food. It can even pick up a low growl.

Other Thoughts: I use 2 of these cams to monitor my dogs/yard when I am away. One is inside my garage where they have access to a kennel through a dog door. Night vision works great here. Only downside is due to the low resolution, I can tell my dog is chewing on something, but cannot tell what she is chewing on. The other cam is in my bedroom looking out a window to the backyard. In this type of situation you cannot use the night vision because the infrared bounces off the glass of the window, which washes out the image so that you can't see at night. But daytime viewing is good, even when the sun comes around.

I didn't expect much from these webcams, but the features and ability to monitor when away exceeded my expectations. I doubt you'll find something better for the money. I would buy these again and recommend them to my family and friends.

3 out of 5 eggsDead

This review is from: D-Link DCS-932L/2Q Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, Night Vision, Mydlink Enabled (2 PACK)

Pros: Easy to set up, works perfectly.

Cons: Failed at 3 months - totally dead, no lights, no power, no nothing and although it has a 12 month warranty I can not figure out who to get help from, Newegg? D-Link?

Other Thoughts: Newegg has a 30 day warranty with restock fee. D-Link has 12 month warranty but says return to point of sale. All very complicated to figure out. If I bought this from a local store I would just walk in and get another or a replacement.

Manufacturer Response:

We appreciate the comments and want to thank you for the feedback and we are sorry to hear that the product has stopped functioning. Since your warranty period has yet to expire, we advise you to contact us to see if you qualify for a replacement. We can be reached by calling the toll free number 1-877-453-5465. We thank you for choosing D-Link and look forward to hearing from you soon.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat cameras

This review is from: D-Link DCS-932L/2Q Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, Night Vision, Mydlink Enabled (2 PACK)

Pros: Very small. Work great in the dark. Web interface is easy to use and understand. MyDlink portal works great. Can talk to the cameras from anywhere with a smartphone app. Price for two was unbeatable.

Cons: Resolution, wishing it were better. You get what you pay for. But it was decent. Java implementation is a pain. You need to make sure Java is up to date and enabled on your PC. But still quirky.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you update to the latest firmware.
Camera can be very sensitive to motion. The higher the sensitivity, the more emails you will receive. It can literally blast out 100's of emails.

You might want to know your stuff before you try to mess with this camera. You'll need to figure out your SMTP settings, IP information, wireless info...it's not for the faint of heart.

3 out of 5 eggsanyone else having problems with wireless?

This review is from: D-Link DCS-932L/2Q Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, Night Vision, Mydlink Enabled (2 PACK)

Pros: quick and easy connect and good features... wired only.
I can get to it from my phone easily.

Cons: I have tried and tried and had an IT pro try but can't get them to work wirelessly.

Other Thoughts: good little camera for the money, nice image and the sound is a good feature. I needed them to work with WIFI but it's just not as easy at the 4 step directions.

Manufacturer Response:

We want to thank you for the feedback as we really do appreciate the comments and concerns. We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing wireless connection issues with the DCS-932L. Please make sure you have downloaded and installed the latest firmware. If that does not solve your problem please contact D-Link technical support at www.support.dlink.com. 3 out of 5 eggsGood price , Decent image

This review is from: D-Link DCS-932L/2Q Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, Night Vision, Mydlink Enabled (2 PACK)

Pros: Good price. I got a 2 pack deal for 99.99. Set up was easy enough and downloaded D-Link free app for my iPad everything went smooth, but I could see 1 camera at a time. I opted for the $1.99 app D-Link+ that I could monitor both cameras at once.
The video quality could be better. The cameras switch Day & Night mode and they do give an ok picture. I can make out the people I know ok, but I don't know how easy to identify a actual thief.
If you have the money I would recommend a getting a camera with better picture.

Cons: I wish the picture quality was better.

Manufacturer Response:

We thank you for your feedback and appreciate the comments and concerns. We are sorry to hear that the DCS-932 did not meet your expectations. Please note that you can configure the video settings on the camera to optimally suit your needs. In your case, make sure that the resolution is set at 640 x 480 (highest quality option). You can also change the FPS to the highest setting (30) but keep in mind the higher the fps and resolution, the more resources it will take up in your network. Refer to page 28 of the user manual for detailed information. If you encounter any problems with the product feel free to contact D-Link technical support at www.support.dlink.com. We thank you for being a D-Link customer.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well enough

This review is from: D-Link DCS-932L/2Q Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, Night Vision, Mydlink Enabled (2 PACK)

Pros: Small size

Mountable

Standard definition

Wireless/Wired

Night Vision/Motion Sensor

Price

Works with iSpy, also comes with DViewCam software (download from website) which also works, but I chose iSpy as I am familiar with it.

Can setup Alerts for motion through SMTP (gmail,Yahoo, etc...)

Can adjust brightness/contract

IR goes a pretty good distance, 15-20 ft for sure no problem, as the camera states it can go further, that's just what I've used.

Cons: Motion Sensor is a little powerful for it's own good, I had to turn it down to 20-30% to be usable. But I guess too much power is better then too little.

IR lights glow a bit red when on.

Switching to IR/Night vision from Daylight Mode (auto or manual) triggers the motion sensor.

Video looks a little pixelated and With standard 480 def and medium JPEG quality you get about 10FPS when you dial into it or use a 3rd party software (I'm using Wifi) but very watchable.

If you run it over Wireless you will probably get some horizontal lines going across the screen, but with wired it seems to be a better stream. (as I am not a fan of wireless, I know this is not the cameras fault but because wireless is flaky)

Can't point out of a window, too much glare from IR LEDS on camera.

Other Thoughts: In my opinion I believe you get what you pay for on this camera, don't expect a $500 camera in a $50-60 package.

I think this is a good deal and if you plan on using these outside, then they are a good deal since they're not too expensive so if they end up walking off, you're not out $300+.

The motion sensing and email alerts you really have to tweak to work well.

If you're not too familiar with setting up things like this, you might get frustrated if you want to do a lot with the cameras: Motion sense and Alerts to email.

If you just want a baby monitor camera that you can dial into from your phone or internet browser, then the basic setup is pretty easy.

I'm still trying to find the right balance with motion sensing and alerts. Works with iSpy.

I bought a wifi extender to get an AP closer to the cameras.

Will update after some time goes by.

4 out of 5 eggsmuch better than DCS-930L

This review is from: D-Link DCS-932L/2Q Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, Night Vision, Mydlink Enabled (2 PACK)

Pros: Great Wifi reception, I put one in garage and my wifi router is upset inside a closet, still got -60dBm RSSI from the router.

Cons: need special software to hook it up to mydlink is not convenient.

Other Thoughts: Bought this last week with $20 discount, $79 for two IP cam is a good deal. Hooked it up in my mac but the CD comes with the package is Windows version. Without the CD, able to login to the cam thru browser. Then hit firmware update, found new firmware from dlink site, updated. Now the Windows setup CD doesn't work with the new firmware! I guess I shouldn't update the firmware first. Ended up google helped me to find a new software will hook up the cam to mydlink.com, here is the discussion forum with link, http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=39408.0.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't take a chance with this camera

This review is from: D-Link DCS-932L/2Q Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, Night Vision, Mydlink Enabled (2 PACK)

Pros: When it works it works fairly good

Cons: To start with the written instructions don't match the CD instructions. Once that hurdle was passed be prepared for constant updates to firmware that fail the first time tried. Firmware updates typically took me 15 - 20 minutes to complete even though I'm on a 35 mbps cable connection. At this point I wish they had arrived DOA so I could get my money back. They might as well of arrived DOA because I now only have 1 working and the other will not work even after the latest update to the firmware. I'm totally disgusted. I've had other Dlink products and been totally happy but not with these cams. Never again will I buy any Dlink products.

Manufacturer Response:

We thank you for your feedback as we really do appreciate and value your input. We are sorry to hear that one of your DCS-932L’s did not work even after you updated the latest firmware. Please try to reset the camera back to its factory settings (by pressing on the reset button on the back of the camera for ten seconds with a paper clip) and run the setup process again. If that does not work perhaps D-Link technical support can resolve your problem. In addition, if your warranty period has not expired you may qualify for a replacement. Go to www.support.dlink.com for more infomation. We thank you for choosing D-Link.

3 out of 5 eggsQuick and dirty baby cam

This review is from: D-Link DCS-932L/2Q Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, Night Vision, Mydlink Enabled (2 PACK)

Pros: Decent picture and audio. Night vision is ok.

Cons: The audio can get static at times. The D-Link cloud service is not very good. I use an alternate viewer, but it doesn't do everything the D-Link cloud service does.

Other Thoughts: This is all in all a decent IP camera for the price. We will continue to use this as a baby monitor, but it is not good for much else.

Manufacturer Response:

We thank you for your feedback as we really do appreciate and value your input. We suggest that you use D-Link’s viewing software D-View Cam to ensure optimal usage. The program, along with firmware updates is available at www.support.dlink.com. Also, please note that the audio can get static sometimes if there are objects nearby that can interfere with its electromagnetic signal. Move items such as microwaves, televisions, telephones, and metal filing cabinets away from the DCS-932L. If you are still experiencing any issues feel free to contact D-Link technical support. We thank you for choosing D-Link.
