1 out of 5 eggsDead on Arrive

Pros: None

Cons: This thing can NEVER be turned on. I read the entire manual to see if I did anything wrong. BUT. This thing never turns on. Even though it is plugged in, the power light never turns green, and it is dead on arrive.

1 out of 5 eggspoor interface and quality

Pros: Looks good on paper. Has zoom, really???

Cons: The web interface was not responsive. Movement was sluggish. The web view was very grainy. My old web cam has better picture. I did not record with this so that may be good. It was advertised as having zoom. It did not zoom. Click the web big/little tree and nothing happens. Search the entire web interface and found no focus or zoom. I am so unsatisfied that I did not check the the two-way audio or access beyond my private network.

Other Thoughts: Suggested price was $250. I have tried other brands at $125 and the response was great with full resolution video from the web interface (meaning it was not grainy). Still looking for a QNAP compatible IP camera at a reasonable price.

2 out of 5 eggsUsable but flawed

Pros: Decent camera. Full pan/tilt, IR. Wide array of configurations when running as a LAN cam and not a cloud cam. (Configurable) auto-switch between visible light and IR is nice. LEDs can be disabled.

Cons: * Terrible setup -- to turn on/off "cloud" mode requires doing a factory reset and rerunning the setup wizard.
* Few options in "cloud mode".
* Network Storage/SMB options for periodic snapshots don't seem to work. This limits script-ability/automation uses to email or classic FTP (SFTP not available).
* No way to get audio (either direction) except through "cloud mode" (+plugin) or IE (+plugin).
* Cannot grant permissions to other user accounts, such as "let users pan and tilt camera". Only admin can.
* Frame rate is quite low in live video, even at low resolution.
* 1280x720 resolution is quite grainy.
* Zoom in/out buttons display a JavaScript button, "Only works in Internet Explorer". (Have not tested there.)

Other Thoughts: I'd probably give it a higher rating if it were a more affordable model, but at its market level, it's just not worth the extra over cheaper ones.

4 out of 5 eggsNice camera for the money

Pros: This is a really nice little camera for the money. I actually put one outside under my porch. Great video quality during the day. Night vision is a little grainy, but for the money this was a bargain.

Cons: Slow movement via dlink app.

4 out of 5 eggsGood video quality, ok features

Pros: Good HW quality, good price and good features.

Cons: Need to improve the firmware quality, I tried to add a certificate signed by my CA to the camera but every time I try to do it the admin GUI hangs and restart.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat after set-up

Pros: Clear picture with 3 resolution settings; used mostly in dark room with little light, and I'm able to see everything. Great pan and zoom range. Free smartphone app functions well: has never crashed, and it easily controls camera. App reviews aren't that great, but I've had no problems. Tech Support during set-up: Kenny, (case number C6738199) was thorough, knowledgeable, and patient.

Cons: Prefers to be paired with DLink Cloud Router, though no indication of this on website description. Nothing "Easy" about the set-up with other routers. Camera needed a firmware update right out of the box. Be prepared to spend 30-45 minutes on the phone with TechSupport to walk you through the steps. But don't worry, TechSupport was excellent. Have IP address of camera handy and it will save you some back tracking.

Other Thoughts: Very satisfied with the camera after one month of continuous use. Average user should anticipate a conversation with TechSupport, which, again, was high quality. Thanks to Kenny case number C6738199

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Nanny Cam, but issues with WiFi

Pros: Great camera resolution. The pan/tilt function covers a lot of ground. Audio is clear. App works well, still finalizing the website functions.

Cons: 2-way speaker/mic is pretty quiet, but works if needed.

Other Thoughts: Still having issues downloading the desktop program, as IE is blocking the D-link digital certificate. Will need to work out this issue, have not been able to set up the WiFi features.

2 out of 5 eggsBricks once in a while

Pros: Nice when it works. Has an android app.

Cons: If you enjoy setting up the camera over and over again this one if for you. Android app nags when a firmware upgrade is available. If you select upgrade while the camera is operating on a wireless link it will brick itself requiring a total reset and registration. D-link instructs NOT to upgrade using wireless link but the app will allow it to go ahead and brick itself knowing it is on a wireless link.

Other Thoughts: Requires a internet connection for some features to work.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Camera

Pros: I bought two of these units. The first one is setup in an area that was close to my router so it was plugged into the router. The second one is in an area that requires the use of my WiFi. These cameras are really easy to set up and use. So far I have had no issues. I was prompted to do a Firmware update which was preformed without issue. The PTZ functions worked without issue.

Cons: Software is really the sad part of this setup. The Mobile App is very very limited. The desktop app is also very limited. The schedule for events is terrible but its free so what the heck right...NO..

Other Thoughts: I have not verified it yet but I use a software at work called Blue Iris. It is a great platform I have found for network cameras. I will be verifying these cameras with Blue Iris hopefully by the end of this year. They do list many cameras that are verified to work with it and this one is not listed. I will be using these cameras for a bit and if they hold up, I will be buying two or three of the outdoor cameras from Dlink.
