5 out of 5 eggsBest Low Light "."

Pros: I purchased this camera elsewhere but I felt it's so good it needs a decent review. It has a built in IR cut filter and a b/w color mode selection or auto selection. PTZ features are hands down best i've ever owned. With that said i've only had experience with foscam and shixen cameras. The web interface is very stable, snappy, and just awesome. Simple point the camera and it goes, select something and it figures out exactly how to get there and zooms perfectly. Picture quality is spot on, and the color mode works in near total darkness, and the ir mode does a much better job. Focus is spot on, however focus in color mode in total darkness makes it hunt (as expected) but in b/w mode its spot on. As with all Axis camera interfacing with 3rd party software is great, none of the guessing games like other cameras. The movement is precise and exact, even fully zoomed out you can move it only a fraction of a inch. Talking about zoom, WOW this thing can get out there. If you're on the fence about it, think about this, whats the purpose of the camera? If you are trying to identify someone you better be able to pinpoint them exactly, if you're only doing motion or intrusion detection save yourself the doe and pickup a foscam.

Cons: This camera has some size to it Its not small, and is easily noticeable, The price is only a con because I purchased this for use at my home, its in the correct price range for its performance but still i managed to find it for 600 bucks. It is a little noisy when doing huge pans from one set point to another set point. I can here it over my servers so don't plan on using this thing as a baby cam (not that any would).

Other Thoughts: I wish I could afford some of the other higher end outdoor models so i wouldn't have to point this Axis camera out one of my upstairs windows. But oh well, maybe someday. I wish foscam made something similar to this but much much cheaper.

5 out of 5 eggsExpensive but worth it.

Pros: - 18x optical allows me to pull the license plate off a car at 100 feet away from the camera.

- Great build quality

- 0.005 Lux sensitivity (night mode)

-Three ways to control the ptz functions: joystick emulation, cross-hair, and the typical left, right, up, down, zoom buttons.

-Quick and quiet ptz functions.

-Great looking and quick web UI.

-Not a single reset required since I put them up 4 months ago.

-Guard modes, timed preset positions, alarms, input and output switches, and a whole host of other stuff I never use.

Cons: -Price... This camera won't do you wrong, but it is still very expensive. It appears to be in about the right price range considering the competition, but I feel that all of these high end cameras still should be appreciably cheaper.

-I mentioned that I could pull the license plate off a car at 100 feet. This is definitely possible during the day, but at night, things can be "iffy". If you do zoom in on something far away during the night, the camera can pick up enough light to make the image useful, but the auto focus is not good enough. So you will see the letters of the license plate, but they will be just a little too blurred out to identify. Manual focus is possible via the web server, but it is not sensitive enough, and you usually end focusing past the sweet spot. When you are lucky though, the camera will focus correctly on a distant object at night.

Other Thoughts: I do use the figure 100 feet in this review, but I actually believe it may be closer to 200, but I am trying to be conservative.

Otherwise, if you have a mission critical security problem, these cameras are a good place to start. With the outdoor dome (which newegg also offers), these cameras become pretty large. Even though I make no attempt to hide them, barely any of the people who come on my property notice them. And since I implemented them 4 months ago, they have saved my but 10 times.
