3 out of 5 eggsUpdate to first post

Pros: Update April 23rd 2014. Axis has said they are indeed working on a firmware update to support the SSL/TLS email support. They sent me a beta version to try out. They said they don't want to give a delivery date in case other work takes a higher priority and causes them to miss the delivery date. I'll leave more feedback after trying the new firmware.

Cons: Just an update to my previous post.

3 out of 5 eggsAxis M1013 IP camera

Pros: Picture quality is decent considering 800x600. Lots of configuration options. Good motion detection.

Cons: Biggest complaint is that email notifications do not work with TLS/SSL. In other words, you can't use Yahoo, Google, our Outlook to send email notifications from your camera. I'm using inbox, but it won't send notifications with picture attachments (I'm guessing because it's not a secure login using TLS/SSL, so it's untrusted). I contacted Axis customer support, and they said they are working on a firmware update that would allow email via TLS/SSL, but couldn't give me an estimated date of completion. They do have TLS/SSL email support on some of their other cameras, but not the M1013 as of March 15, 2014. Would have given it 5 stars if the email notifications would work properly with TLS/SSL.

Other Thoughts: It's supposed to be able to dump video to a smb share. My Netgear router has a smb share, but for some reason the Axis camera can't get to it. I don't know if this is a Netgear problem (I can get to it fine from my PC) or an Axis problem.
