Add a weatherproof, night-vision camera to your Logitech Alert master system for a more complete picture of what’s happening indoors or out, day or night.
This add-on camera expands your existing Logitech Alert system, so you can see what’s going on in the backyard, driveway, or your dark garage. It uses your existing outlets and electrical wiring to connect to your network and transmit video without new wires or networking hassles.
A great value all in all
This review is from: Logitech Alert 700e Outdoor Add-on Security Camera with Night Vision (961-000338)
Pros: Very simple system to set up and configure, uses power line networking and your existing PC so there is no need to run additional wiring or figure out setting up a DVR. It automatically finds your cameras as soon as you create and log into the Logitech alert website which allows you to view your cameras from any internet connected pc, or via an ios or android app (I haven't tested the android but the ios app works well) Video is very good but take the sales/promo pics with a grain of salt, it isn't THAT good, but, it is good enough to identify a person or vehicle.
Cons: mine came with one bad SD card - fortunately I had a spare so it was a quick swap out but it meant having to climb the ladder again. If the SD card won't mount the camera won't record anything even if the 'master' pc is on and can see the camera. Also you can only install the 'commander' software on one PC, all others must use the website to view the cameras, so if your connection is slow, don't expect to get great results.
Other Thoughts: Logitech - you need to provide a 'viewer' app that allows other pc's on the local network to view the cameras without having to go up and then down on the same internet connection. that's fine for viewing away from home but should not be a limitation on the same network. Also want to mention you can use power over Ethernet and not use the power line networking option if you so choose, but the power line networking works quite well and avoids having to run additional wiring. On balance I am quite happy with the system and it would have been 5 eggs if not for the bad SD card out of the box and the inability to view the cameras from multiple locations on the same local network.
