Cons: Not an outdoor camera, not high-def HD, poor night image

Other Thoughts: Purchased at a steep discount, so the value is what it is. Works ok as an indoor monitoring camera in a well lite area. Software works, but isn't well documented, or should I say, doesn't follow the 1-2-3 steps exactly. Best suited as a baby/nanny cam.

Other Thoughts: This product comes well packed with camera, stand, software, LAN cable and screws if u need to pin it to wall. Just read the quick startup guide and you should be good to connect the camera. I consider myself as an average tech knowledge guy when it comes to gadgets and computer. Connection is simple, one cable for power and that's it if u r trying to connect it wireless. I was really scared about configuring the wireless but Getting wireless set up is just super easy, what a relief. U just activate the wps on the router and press the wps on the camera, Tada! That's it.
The quick start guide in page 3 says once the wifi light on the camera stops blinking and becomes solid u r all good, but mine never became a solid green light!! Before it connects to the Wi-Fi it was solid orange and after it got connected It always blinks green, but I get the streaming without any problem. (The guide needs to be more accurate and I had spent a lot of time to get it solid green) The tech support guy was not sure why this was happening and told it might because of my router! I learnt this the hard way after trying to get the light to be solid and giving up when I got the streaming. Note , the wps button can be anywhere in ur router and not just where it's indicated in the quick start guide, mine is a 8 year old Linksys and it has one , check if ur router has , if it doesn't u cannot connect it wirelessly, u need to use the cable.
Once you have the green light, solid or blinking u r done and can see the video. Their app is the best one to see it. Their Software to be installed in the pc sometimes gives errors and is not stable. The tech support guy told there will be a updated version soon, it just doesn't allow you to login. Both the website and the app are straight forward to use. U can use motion detection, audio detection, or schedule for recording, the first 2 comes under “Event” setting. The motion and audio detection works perfectly, have tested. But how much to record, how long the video files will be is a tricky one, even the tech support guy was confused for some time before he explained me it well. The user manual is at this location (u don’t get it easily) and read it slowly and you will understand it.
U can use ftp, network or mount micro sd in the camera itself. The reason I bought this is because of the micro sd capability. U can also connect an hard disk directly to the router if u buy their EPG 5000 router or similar router with usb capability, specifically designed for these kind of use. I will test the router if I get a complimentary one from Engenius! If u think of an upgrade to ur present router, go for it else just use ur old router, it works. While I wished it had optional file over writing feature in it while the disk is full, even an $20 dash cam has this feature, the tech support guy told it doesn't have this feature , when I tested it did! Not sure if it's a defect or a feature.
