Other Thoughts: Bought 3, sent 3 back.
replaced with a Foscam for a fraction of the cost.

Pros: Video quality and ease of setup.

Cons: Cloud access is only through included software.

Other Thoughts: So I purchased 2 of these units for my church as a live steaming option for some of our patrons who are going through Chemotherapy and can't sit with the rest of the congregation. The live feed works great since now they now longer have to sit at awkward angles in the side room just to watch the sermon. The only issue i've been having is with providing a stable viewing feed but that has more to do with the laptop that is setup in the room than the camera's themselves. Eventually We will be looking to somehow put the live feed on our website somehow.

Pros: We got a replacement unit and this time bypassed the included 'simple setup' software which had bricked the previous unit. This worked great! Had the camera up and running in no time and it works very well. Picture quality is plenty good enough for what we're doing, but don't expect it to look like a video camera, it's a security camera after all.

Cons: Picture quality is 'good enough' for what we're using it for , but it's not a video camera. Main con is the absolutely terrible simple install software that is included. I had read on other sites that you really need to avoid it, but on our first camera we could not see how to bypass it. Just figure out the IP on the camera and go to it. It has it's own internal OS and that's what you need to use for setup.

Other Thoughts: Kudos to the ZyXELfor trying to help when their included software killed our first camera (I know they responded here as well). We had tried the obvious solutions of resetting and had also spent time on the phone with technical support, neither of which could revive it.

Anyway, their tech support is one of the best that I have come across. Easy to reach and as helpful as they could be.

Pros: Makes a nice doorstop. Looks pretty.

Cons: No idea what all the cons are, could never get the camera working - the camera comes with required setup software that bricked it. You are forced to use the software in order to get an IP address and configure the camera. It worked fine when I first entered the application, but as soon as you get to the point where it applies the settings it fried the e-net port and there is no way to reset it. Back to NewEgg it goes!

Other Thoughts: It actually seems like a well made device with some very poorly written software. Unfortunately the software is required and there is no way to bypass it or the isecurity+ (must every word have an 'i' in front of it now?) which I suspect is what killed it. Forces you into opening an account on their webservice.

- The camera only requires the use of the on-disk setup utility if you wish to use the cloud based service. If you would prefer to access or configure the camera directly you may do so via the built-in WebGUI. The camera pulls it address from DHCP, so you can either use the on-disk utility to locate the IP address or check the DHCP table on your router to find the IP address.
- The camera does have a reset button located on the back. Pressing and holding in the reset button will reset the camera back to factory defaults. If something has made the camera inaccessible, such as losing the administration password or a misconfiguration, you may use this button to reset and recover the camera.
Based on the information in your review its impossible to diagnose what happened to your unit, but most likely could have been fixed with a reset to defaults, or by calling our tech support to help troubleshoot.
