2 out of 5 eggsNot as Good

Pros: cheap, easy to install.
resolution is OK when there is light

Cons: - completely useless at night.
- User interface sucks. could not jump directly to an event when review recording. I would have to play from the beginning then would be able to jump or fast forward
- Could not record continuous motion. when motion detected, only recorded for 5 seconds and then paused even though motions still there and restart recording again some time later so you would have chopping recording and may be missing important events.

Other Thoughts: There could be updates to resolve these issues but have not have time to check if they exist

2 out of 5 eggsmotion detection is very very bad

Pros: cheap, works for some part if it is used just for live surveillance, image is not good under dim light, under right light is ok.

Cons: motion detection is a joke, it only works if you are within one feet of the camera, I have to return this product.

1 out of 5 eggsUseless .dav format

Pros: Price

Cons: Video quality is much lower then other 600 TVL cameras I've viewed.

Doesn't prerecord like all other DVRs I've purchased did.

Interface is barely useable. When you do get it setup correctly and try to download a video via IE (firefox doesn't work despite its claims) it will only save the video in .dav which absolutely nothing I've tried will play.

When I try to backup locally it claims my USB drive is full when it is not.

Other Thoughts: Spends a few dollars more and get something with a decent interface and converts files to .avi.

I would upload a video recording to demonstrate the poor quality, but cannot.

2 out of 5 eggsInterface sucks. Documentation pathetic.

Pros: Video quality seems to be pretty good.
Hard drive surprisingly easy to install.

Cons: hardware interface (mouse only) difficult to use
Software interface is cryptic and techy
No printed manual
PDF manual is on tiny CD ROM that doesn't work in all drives
Manual writer barely understands any English
Manual is incomplete

Other Thoughts: I suspect that this product will do what it is supposed to do. However I may never know it. So far I've been able to hook it up to confirm that it functions before running wires all over my house. It basically works--I can see that it is recording video. I have NOT been able to: connect to an HDMI television ("Unsupported video" error on TV for all video settings, so I'm using a PC monitor instead), connect to the DVR using a web interface, even from a computer on the same network, set up motion sensing, output any video clips, save any video clips to ensure they don't get overwritten, view from iphone. I'm a fairly tech savvy person but I'm bafed by the positive reviews this is getting.

5 out of 5 eggsREALLY DIY system for GREAT PRICES

Pros: First of all, I Love the price I paid for this 4 cameras, recorder, and accessories. 600tvl cam, i cant find anywhere cheaper than that. System work great. I mean REALLY good. Installed myself at home, easy setup, and open the ports myself and I am able to see it from pc, then my phone and tablets. I am fully monitoring my home. Pictures are nice after a little brigthness adjustment.

Cons: System does not have remote control or buttons in front, maybe that's the style of system. But looking forward to control it using remote for convenience.

Other Thoughts: I brought some IP cams from laview for cheap price, I love their quality, and so I give it a try on their analog. Turn out everything is good. Stay on the good deal.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent, but missing things

Pros: Price.

Cons: 1. No remote control - must be controlled via mouse only.
2. Can only view not control anything from smart phone.
3. No hard drive, but that's OK.
3. No audio. Will not record sound/voices.

Other Thoughts: This unit is a great price for the features you get. For someone who just needs to watch a shop or even around the 4 corners of your house, this is a decent unit. If you don't care about controlling it with a remote control or if you don't need to record voices or audio then this is OK for you. For a little more you can get a unit that is complete.

5 out of 5 eggsDefinitly Recommend

Pros: Great Price
Cloud Function
Easy to Set Up
Great Night Vision
Remote/Mobile View

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: A few weeks ago, my neighbor's house was broken into. I believe they still haven't caught the thief.

Trying to prevent the same thing from happening to me, I decided to install a surveillance system at home. Ultimately, I decided to go with this system because of the affordable price and the cloud function.

Set up was very easy. LaView practically has a DIY tutorial video for all of their products on YouTube. Now I can monitor my house and my backyard on whenever I please.

Another good thing about this kit is that their cameras have something called invisible IR technology so at night, you don't see the red light coming from the camera. It makes it unnoticeable to others.

Also, if you plan on recording on the DVR for long periods of time like I do, then I learned that it is better to get a surveillance hard drive than just a regular computer hard drive to avoid overheating.
