5 out of 5 eggsGood buy

Pros: One of the more intuitive setups I've seen in an inexpensive DVR. The cameras are outdoor rated and come with all the hardware needed to mount and connect them.

Cons: Unable to make out faces or license plates at 20 ft.

Other Thoughts: Bought this for a customer recently and it's my second Aposonic device in 7-8 years. I've been impressed by how it just works.

2 out of 5 eggsmixed bag

Pros: price

Cons: had to replace 2 of the 4 cameras in 2 years and the DVR seems to be of low quality, the picture cuts out several time / day, i.e. it says 'no connection', then magically re-appears for hours, then at some point will disappear again

Other Thoughts: good product when it works...which unfortunately has not been a consistent characteristic of my unit

4 out of 5 eggsMore Secure Now

Pros: Great price
Solid Software

Cons: Replaced stock Toshiba drive
with a WD 2Tb Purple
with no issues.
Stock drive was not defective, but reviews suggest it might not be the best for the job. Any job, really.

3 out of 5 eggs2 Camera Failures in 1 year

Pros: Easy to install and set up
Relatively inexpensive initial cost

Cons: Hardware longevity is poor, DVR interface and function is poor

Other Thoughts: I bought this in June 2012 and installed it within the time span of a week. I had to order an extension for one of the cameras. After 2-3 months of use I upgraded the firmware on the DVR and after that would periodically come back to a rebooted DVR with all settings lost, including language, time, and date. I replaced the lithium battery and it still happened. I ended up purchasing a video capture card and using ZoneMinder instead. In May of 2013 I had my first camera failure. It was warrantied without issue. In July 2013 I had my second camera failure. I am out of the warranty period. The cameras are installed outside but under the soffits of my roof, protected from direct wind, rain, and debris. The connectors are up in the soffit and out of the elements. You're better off buying Swann or Lorex cameras with a proven track record.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Inexpensive, mobile and web access.

Cons: I knew the quality wasn't going to be HD when i bought it but yeah you get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: If you want something simple and just to do basic monitoring then this is for you. For those who dont know how to use the mobile viewing the app name is"IProSeCu" Port 80 and of course it'll help to have a static IP.

3 out of 5 eggsNot Bad-But

Pros: So everyone knows… these types of cameras are not SHARP. They always look out of focus. It is just the type of camera they are. You can make out who it is if they are within 10 feet or so but if you are looking to see something more that 15 feet away you will not be able to tell who it is. Or if you are looking a car 20feet way you will not be able to tell the make. 480 to 700 lines are just about the same… the $149.00 have a little more contrast to them.

For the price they are the best you can get and Aposonic has great support and they will be glad to help… that is a fact.

But if you are like me and want a sharp picture then you will need to go with an IP camera. Good IP cameras go for $300 to $600 but the picture you get is like watching your HD TV. Check-out youtube vivotek or youtube AXIS P3343.

One IP camera will do the work of 2 or 3 of the TV-Line cameras.

But if you are just looking to see someone at the front door or to look into the baby’s room then Aposonic is a

Cons: TV-Line Camera

Other Thoughts: None

4 out of 5 eggsIt's had it's ups and downs

Pros: The thing is great at recording. Runs for months without any maintenance and deletes the oldest files when spaces becomes tight. Motion detection works fairly well.

Cons: Has killed 2 HDDs in 2 years. Cannot reset the internet password if it is lost (at least not to my knowledge), and you have to use IE to browse the web interface.

Other Thoughts: Overall it's a good product for the price, but I'm thinking of having a dedicated windows machine to handle our surveillance needs.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad for the price

Pros: I have set this up at a vacation property I have. It is a pretty good system with a lot of features for the $299 price. It was very easy to set up (excluding the physical installation of the cameras, which you will have with any system). Camera quality, both nightvison and daylight, is what you would expect for this price. Remote access works well on Windows 7. Crhome seems to work best, followed by Firefox, IE 9, and Safari. Be aware that you will need to install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for the non-IE browsers to work. Also, some extensions for non-IE browsers can cause problems.

Cons: The motion detection is VERY sensitive at night. Even at the lowest setting, any bug flying by will trigger it. Dawn and dusk light changes will also trigger a few events

Other Thoughts: I just wanted a system to monitor my vacation property and so far his system meets my needs so far.

5 out of 5 eggsUnbelievably good for the money

Pros: Easy to setup, easy to use.

Can be used standalone, or on a home network.

Reasonably good picture quality, whether light or dark. (the only time the
quality is poor is when looking out a window, it catches a lot of glare)

Many good features like motion detection, automatic night vision, internet/network viewing, etc...

Cons: Nothing considering the price... If you want better video quality, you're going to have to shell out $1000+.

Other Thoughts: This is an unbelievable product for the money, I can't believe it was only $300. Even at the regular price of $379, it's still completely worth it.
