5 out of 5 eggsExcellent DVR, Outstanding Company

Pros: Easy setup
Clear picture
Plenty of HD capacity
Easy time search
Multiple viewing options
Outstanding customer service
Outstanding technical support

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I am not a network guy and I had a hard time figuring out how to get it set for remote view on my computer. After a few calls and a lot of time with Aposonic tech support, we figured out that I had a bad RJ45 connector on the other side of my house where the DVR was set up. It was totally my fault that I couldn't get it working and the tech guys were always positive and helpful (no phone wait time either). I can not say enough about how well they helped me and treated me with respect (they have more patience than I do). Don't hesitate to buy this product, they support what they make!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat DVR

Pros: This is a great unit. Quality far exceeds other DVRs I've worked with. Has a web interface that uses Java for viewing, so can be viewed using a smartphone. Each camera channel has individual brightness and contrast settings. Individual motion masking as well. Record quality is great, since it exports the raw H.264 files. Has a (fairly decent) viewer that can view and export those H.264 files as AVIs (albeit at a significant video quality loss in FPS as well as resolution). You'd do better finding a way of converting the raw H.264 files to something usable. Video is great in the viewer though.
A large plus of note is the upgradable hard drive. This unit can take up to TWO(2) 2TB hard drives. Yes, it has dual hard drive bays inside.

Cons: Can't flip the image if camera is "upside down." All channels record if there is motion in ANY channel, so be sure to apply motion masking if you have a road-facing camera or frequently trafficed areas. As noted above, exporting the video is in H.264 format, thus needs to be exported to AVI (or stills) by the packaged viewer. Doing this significantly reduces resolution and FPS of the resulting video. Can't find a way to retain original resolution and FPS, short of using other video software to work with the H.264 file directly.

Other Thoughts: After 6 months or so, one of the channels had problems. Image came through quite dark and discolored, regardless of the camera or cable hooked up. RMAed for repair.
