5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I can't believe the clarity of this system. I have a 16 inch monitor that I'm using with this unit. The pictures are clear and bright. The night vision is pretty cool to it says it only have about 60 foot visibility but if there's a slight moon. You can see up about 500 feet. I live on the country where there are no outside lighting. It if you're using this unit in an area that has a little bit of light you will be surprised on how much you can see.

Cons: Hard to think of a con but the only con I can come up with is when the sun is shining directly into the camera at sunset or sunrise it switches from the black and white night vision to the colored day vision and only flickers for about 10 min. but this can be corrected if you can block something to block the direct light shine into the camera.

1 out of 5 eggsthis camera dont work under the street lamp in front of my house

Pros: cheap, camera worked in my house in the dark and at a distance.

Cons: Under normal house lighting the pic was unacceptible in my home. When i tested in front of my house. the light from the street lamp made a noisy picture. Even at only 10-15' away. forget about facial rec. or seeing a licence plate.

Other Thoughts: i even tried the tape trick someone else mentioned in another review. the camera only works good in complete darkness or if night view mode is forced by the tape trick. very poor camera.

5 out of 5 eggs"IR Testing"

Pros: Everything Now !! Read "Other Thoughts"

Other Thoughts: Scratch some of my last comment that I made in my last review !! I done some testing with the cams & came up with one thing you can do to make the "IR Sensor" not so sensitive , just cut a small piece of black electrical tape & cover the "IR Sensor" on the outside of the glass that covers the case & it will make the day light colors awsome & when it starts getting dark the "IR LED's" will kick in full force with the black & white & it even looks awsome ,, you still have to have some light but not much for it not to be grainy unless you put them up in a room larger than 30'x30' , for some reason there are 3 stages to the "IR Sensor" & it keeps the second stage from kicking in with the black electrical tape & that's what you want it to do , so at just a little light it won't go completely black & extremely grainy & that's with the 3rd stage kicking in .. it all boils down to that you want to keep the 2nd IR stage from kicking in for the daylight & night light to work properly & I would still recommened this setup to anyone ,,,, just do what I did with the black electrical tape & it will work perfect

1 out of 5 eggsBad Cameras

Pros: The only pro here is that the 8 CH DVR is decent, however just a generic relabel product that many brands of different surveillance cameras put out. This one is identical to the 3 year old one I replaced so I could get a minor camera upgrade and increase my camera count from 4 to 8.

Cons: The cameras that come in this kit are garbage. They are supposed to be 600TVL of resolution, and they are not. They are not any better than the 3 year old 340TVL, sun and weather baked cameras I intended to replace. They have static, ghosting and sparkles at night. During the twilight hours they flip out and cycle between color or B/W night mode with the IRs flickering, and making a clicking noise. During the day, their image quality isn't much better than at night. I'm very disappointed they weren't at least marginally better than my old ones, which I've put back up until I can buy replacements, since they are just that terrible. I can at least SEE with the old ones.

Other Thoughts: I tried to contact support a week ago and no response to date.

5 out of 5 eggsCOULD BE BETTER !!

Pros: They work great indoors ,,,, I would definitely get these if you were going to use them in your house or outside if you have some moderate light if you live in the city

Cons: They aren't that bad if you use them indoors unless there is enough light outside at night because they are really grainy otherwise ,, they do reach 100' or more but really grainy if it's pitch black

Other Thoughts: I mounted one on the back of my house in pitch black darkness and it was so grainy that I couldn't even make out anything less than 100' , I mounted the same cam in my hallway of my house and it looks beautiful , great picture ,,,, I live in the country area of West Virginia , they will work great if you live in the city or a well lite area
