1 out of 5 eggsI will never buy kworld products again

Pros: None

Cons: Reading down the reviews and I suddenly found it's kworld products. I got ripped off twice by kworld and I swear I will never buy k-world products again!

Btw, I intended to give zero egg but looks like I have to give one.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad if you catch it on sale

Pros: Not that hard to set up. Works well at night or day.

Cons: Night vision only good for about 20' then it starts to get a little blurry. Does not come with a HDD. Motion detection is a little flakey (works better at night than the day...go figure)

Other Thoughts: Like the title says, it is a great system if you can catch it on sale. Don't forget to format the HDD when you install it. 160G HDD good for about 100 hrs of recording.

2 out of 5 eggsOne bad camera.

Pros: Cameras are very good.

Cons: The dvr unit is horrible. it does not have enough processing power to handle the full resolution and framerate of the cameras which are actually quite good if paired with a more professional dvr. The other problem is that one of the cameras was dead on arrival.

Other Thoughts: The unit I received was a return from someone else. One of the cameras, which was bad,, had a sticker with a note on it indicating this written by the last customer! I shipped the camera to newegg and they shipped the same one back to me. Pretty horrible customer service especially since I spend thousands a year with them. Reconsidering using them from now on.

1 out of 5 eggsNot sturdy and troublesome

Pros: Easy to view online. Easy to setup. Relatively inexpensive.

Cons: Menu no longer workm so I can't access record and other options. Good luck with tech support. They are clueless. No default possibility. No on switch. I have e-mailed them 3 times and each time they sent me (in broken English)a worthless site.

Other Thoughts: This is probably not a good choice because of the poor tech support and you will undoubtedly need it at some time. You might want to spend a little more and get a better supported company. It was great while it lasted.

3 out of 5 eggsOK for the Price

Pros: If cash is tight, this is not a bad starter. I could barely afford this system when I bought it, but after a rash of break-ins at my house I couldn't afford not to have it. Just having the cameras visible is a deterrant to burglars. The cameras that come with this unit have comparable video quality to some mid-priced cameras.

Cons: I purchased two of these units, one for home use and the other for work. One 8 channel and one 4 channel. Both units came with 500 gb WD hd's paired by Newegg. In both cases the unit stops recording at 250 gb, everytime. The only way to get them working again is to reformat the hard drives. This is not something that can be done over the network so don't make the unit too inaccessible.

The lights on the front of the unit light up like an X-Mas tree. The last thing you want a burglar to see in your un-lit house are these beacon lights! Black tape makes it real pretty.

The software is mediocre. You can only playback one clip at a time on the 8 channel. I wish it would have a preview pic for each clip so you could see if it's a burglar or just fauna blowing in the breeze. Veiwing over 100 clips a day is time consuming.

The 8 channel came with some other pieces of cheesy software you can load on your computer. They are not intuitive and they're written in broken engl

Other Thoughts: I bought this setup because the neighbor kid had been breaking into my house and also stealing my gas. To my dismay, the first day after installing the cameras I caught a 'trustworthy' neighbor stealing my lumber! The next day I caught him peering around a tree eyeing up the video camera he didn't see the day before. Since then just having the camera's visible has seemed to deter activity.

Like I said, this is a good starting point and you can upgrade as you go along. The first upgrade will definately be the DVR with it's 'third world' software. Although the wiring that comes with the setup has held up over time, if I were to do it again I would invest in top grade wire. Wiring inside finished walls is definately something you only want to do once.

As part of this review, I was going to upload a clip from the DVR to demonstrate the quality. However, the H.264 to .avi utility that comes with the DVR does not work.

1 out of 5 eggsGood until it started rebooting constantl.

Pros: Easy setup for somebody technically proficient.
Worked well for 1.25 years.

Cons: Suddenly started locking up and rebooting itself every other minute, just like other reviews have mentioned.

Other Thoughts: Fortunately, I monitor the video constantly and noticed when it started happening. It is unacceptable to have a consistent failure like this and the company is MIA. I will never buy a Kguard again, and recommended avoiding their units at all cost.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk-Stay Away

Pros: Sort of works.....

Cons: I have the V1, which Kguard abandoned with no firmware updates. Crashes in IE 8 every few minuets. Will not work at all in IE9 (even with compaitibility mode). Cannot replay all channels at once (at least over the network, i have the unit in a closet so i dont have a monitor directly attached to it). Not fan, had to add a laptop cooler under it.

Other Thoughts: If kguard doesnt support v1, i doubt they will support v2 as soon as they move to a new model. Im done with them....

2 out of 5 eggsBad experience.....

Pros: Even if the recording functions fail, it still seems to serve the purpose of showing video for our voyeristic security purposes.

Cons: Broke after 2 weeks. Remote quit working, as well as any controls on the unit. I was opening a business at the time that was very busy and just didn't have the time to return it of a replacement in time. I am now shopping for a much higher quality video system.
