1 out of 5 eggsNot a chance

Pros: 0

Cons: 1. One camera did not work right out of box
2. resolution is pretty low under light or no light
3. Wires between the camera is TOO short (60 ft) you have to have your recording box in the middle of your house to be able to mount the cameras where you want them to.

3 out of 5 eggsok

Pros: its cheap, better then nothing. it was on sale for less then whats being sold at now if it goes on sale and u need a cheap set up buy it.

Cons: photo quality is ok only good for about 20' and one cam is a little fuzzy, but not worth it to me for mailing it back. color is off a bit

Other Thoughts: should have a zoom and a way to delete the videos Manuely one at a time.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed quickly/ Poor return policy

Pros: Great manuf support. Very easy to set up.

Cons: This systems dvr failed after 3 weeks. Tried to return and get exchanged but newegg"s customer service dept wants the cameras returned also. The idea of taking down and reinstalling the cameras is both highly inconvenient and impractical. Just be aware that this is what will happen. I've never had to return anything prior to this to newegg but the experience left a lot to be desired. I" ve had far better experience with other e-tailers. When "policy" gets in the way of taking care of a customer, you have begun to circle the drain. Remember circuit city.

1 out of 5 eggsKGuard OT801-4CW134M-500G

Pros: Hmm, I was going to say price, but considering the negatives, any price is too high.

Setup was pretty straight forward, I've done this before though.

Cons: The picture from these cameras is absolutely TERRIBLE. The color is so far off it's ridiculous, and the picture is blurry.

I have another Kguard system that is set up and running for 2 years now, those cameras aren't great, but they sure are a LOT better than these brand new ones.

Other Thoughts: I would not buy this system again, and I would not consider even recommending it to a enemy, let alone a friend.

The cameras are just a terrible terrible joke.

2 out of 5 eggsEhhh

Pros: Cheap when on sale, came with a hard drive, I found it easy to setup, remote viewing works pretty good.

Cons: One of the cameras did not function from the start.,

Other Thoughts: Newegg was going to refund my money for the unit, but I would have to ship it back. KGuard wanted me to send the camera back at my cost, not worth it since the cameras are cheap. If you can get this cheap, I would say its worth it since the DVR functions alright, I was able to get it setup with remote viewing from my Windows Phone easily.

1 out of 5 eggsKguard 8 Cam Dvr

Pros: Price

Cons: While testing before installation, I discovered that 3 of the 4 cameras had intermitten video loss to the reciever. The night vision is no where near advertised 15 meters and the mac address of the device changes everytime you restart the system making it difficult to set up mobile viewing. One the one camera that actually did work, the picture quality was low and colors were distored as if the saturation level was too high. Also, the dvr would not allow recording to be started by motion detection, basically, the system records all the time on any imput that is active which would probably lead to premature hard drive failure because the disk is writing 24/7 when the system is on.

Other Thoughts: Basically, if you want a cheap system to view in real time then hook it up to ur tv and you are good to go,(if the cameras work) however I would not recommend it for home security purposes because of the poor video quality, infrared distance, and no motion detected recording. From my experience, this system was not worth the $20 to send it back let alone the retail price.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't waste your money - no support from KGuard

Pros: Video looked good while it lasted.

Cons: HDD died after only 6 months. The video shows fine but the unit has stopped recording. The HDD is making the dreaded chucking noise and the device says no HDD installed. I have emailed KGuard twice but haven't received any response. Customer support is MIA.

Other Thoughts: I bought this because it was on sale on Newegg. I should have just stayed with my previous brand. That brand at least lasted for 3 years.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat price with HD included

Pros: Great price on a 8 ch system with four cams and a 500gb HD pre installed
Easy install and somewhat easy manual on disc
Had a good reponse time with tech support and they were quite helpful. Need two more cameras.

Cons: Picture quality is so so but for the price paid acceptable.
Cameras have no audio. You need seperate mics.
Night is poor and the IR"s glow red at night, not a very stealthy thing if you want them to go undetected after dark.

Other Thoughts: A stronger seperate IR illuminator or more IR's on the cams are needed for any visibly usable night recording. Addition of outdoor motion senser lights might be a cheap way to get a night recording.Dont use these inside so they may work well for that purpose.....but then there's still the glowing red IR's giving awat the fact that there's a camera.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I didn't have any problem configuring network.

The Kview software feels more natural on Mac.

Cons: The hard drive wasn't plugged in.

And one screw gave me a hard time.
