1 out of 5 eggsA Waste of Money

Pros: Comes with 4 night vision cameras that work well.
All wires and camera mounts are included.
The cameras are powered from the DVR's power supply with a 4 way splitter so no need to tie up 4 extra power outlets.
A 250gb sata hard drive is already installed.
The DVR has some nice features.

Cons: The DVR locks up constantly and needs to be turned off and then back on. Not reliable for unattended use.
I contacted LTS with this problem and received no reply.

Other Thoughts: I have replaced the LTS DVR with another brand and I am using the LTS cameras with it.
I also am using the 250gb hard drive from the LTS.
I will not purchase from LTS in the future.

Pros: Unit is easy to install and worked fine for a week.

Cons: Lost network connection used for remote monitoring of cameras.

Other Thoughts: Working with their tech support and have RMA for the existing unit. I will replace and see what happens.

2 out of 5 eggsBroken...

Pros: Worked fine at first

Cons: Shuts off as soon as hard drive fills up, have to purge and restart recording. Plugged in fourth camera after a few weeks, it beeped loudly and now won't turn on.

3 out of 5 eggsFeature packed, Dirt cheap, Great customer service.

Pros: Great price point for given features. Archived video is easy to review. Extremely easy to install and setup. Customer Service was responsive and helpful (tonyon@ltcom.com, lts.support@ltsecurity.com, stephanieloc@ltcom.com)

Cons: Within a month, DVR started freezing everyday. Most of the time I had to unplug the DVR to reset it to get it working again. I thought the problem may have been that it was set to record 24/7 and that was slowing it down, but even on motion only record - it had the same problem. After contacting LTS, they took care of me though. Additionally, it was difficult to get the internet viewing to work, for me atleast. The instruction booklet needs improvement.

Other Thoughts: I realized that 420TVL resolution was not high enough to positively ID someone from captured footage, so I purchased a higher resolution unit.

4 out of 5 eggsJust Installed this unit

Pros: This unit performs as advertised. Daylight pictures are clear. Night pictures are limited for distance, but are good for a few feet. Has a nice menu for setting up the various parameters. Easy to install and operate.

Cons: Night vision is limited. (but cameras can be upgraded).. The 60 foot cables supplied with unit are probably short for most applications.. Mine was, so I had to buy 2 100 foot cables to install two of the cameras.

Other Thoughts: The user manual is practically worthless... very limited useful information.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Set-up, could be better

Pros: The cameras are of decent quality, the DVR isn't so noisy and has enough space, the kit is pretty easy to use and the remote is nice to have.

Cons: It doesn't seem to work with Vista, OS X or an Apple Airport Extreme router. The software included seems to install ok, but once I ran it and plugged the DVR to the PC, it does not recognize something is plugged in. The other thing I don't like is that at night faces are not clearly visible.

Other Thoughts: I only paid $400 for this set-up, it was a great deal deal and I don't regret it cause this kit is worth more than that. Overall, I am happy with it, it does it's job well when it comes to telling you who's at the door or who's been on your property (like who don't clean-up after their dog LOL). During the day everything looks great, at night you will see things, but faces do not always appear clearly. The motion sensors do work pretty well during the day and night, but at times (and if not set-up correctly) will detect the slightest of movements, such as a little bird or even a leaf. The system does not support OS X, which is acceptable, Mac's are not meant to be security systems, but it doesn't work on Vista PC's either, which is horrible. In my case, it doesn't work on my network either since I am using an Apple Airport Extreme. I can't say anything about XP, I don't run XP anymore; but that's that's the only concern I have, cause I won't be able to burn a DVD for the police.

1 out of 5 eggsupdate review (not working well)

Pros: remote view most of the time. Cameras work well (nothing to compare with) im actually happy with the cameras. but the DVR is really starting to suck bad.. motion record on all 4 channels is nice.

Cons: Device likes to stop allowing remote view once HD gets around 40% full (so it seems). 80% full requires a reformat or it will run very slow and not allow any remote view at all(both software or IE based). Requires a reboot via power switch almost daily now.. have not figured out a way to reformat from over the net. and theres still very limited options for remote d/l of video :( ... so i depend heavy on the wife to keep it functioning..

Other Thoughts: been hoping to see a bios update but no such luck.
going to attempt to contact LTS tech support and if that doesnt help will request a replacement or i will just upgrade to a computer based 4 channel card and software..

4 out of 5 eggsView on 3 TVs and 3 Computers web based or software

Pros: Can remote View - just take the 862KB setup.exe file with you and remember your IP or DOMAIN name, LOGIN, and Password.

CD Software works on Vista 64 Bit. WEB BASED DOES NOT (The web based did work on XP home but only after setting Active X to lowest possible setting and ALLOW or PROMPT on everything) just to get the web based software to load. (more in Other thoughts) - Use NET in the software to login to your cameras.

The BNC out to RCA (Composite) can be split to route to more then two TVs- Have mine split to 4 TVs and routed 75 feet to my bedroom TV and 50 feet to TV in kitchen. Check out your local R@D0 SH@(k for BNC to RCA or type F (COAX) connectors.

Night vision works. the IRs show up with a light RED color in the dark may scare the little ones.

RCA/ COMPOSITE works great full FPS
Two User IDs for remote viewing. Admin with full rights (change camera's, start recoding, change settings

motion sensor works correctly for all 4 cameras

Cons: MANUAL could be better read the QSD6204C4-250 MANUAL its the same thing but documentation is 20 X better

CAN NOT REMOTE DOWNLOAD RECORDINGS
USB BACK UP- SUCKS it actually converts the video as you back it up from the camera system. my INTEL Q6600 converts at 3 FPS (my AMD 3500 4 yrs old converts at 1.2 FPS). so do the math and a 5 min video at 20FPS will take way to long (25-40 Mins).

Network viewing both web based LOCAL and over the NET limit the FPS to around 3-4. (seems like a system conversion problem to me because transfering the video over USB i only got 3 FPS max.)

NO automated external backup solution availible with out using a USB cable.

Appears recordings can only be deleted when connected via USB.

With the price increase I would think twice about buying this unit again. If i had to do it again or build another camera system I would spend a little extra to get FTP upload and better remote managment. along with better cameras.

Other Thoughts: I put Tech Knowledge of the Camera system ar low how ever i Have high understanding of Computers in general.

After the Active X is installed I can view the camera system by adding the following my URL RemoteDVR_D6.html. some reason Example. LOCALIP:2000 loaded the Active X. and then reseting my internet settings to Default it would not load from the above address. but adding RemoteDVR_D6.html. loaded the webbased software with default security settings (after the active X was installed)

Purchased additional items. BNC to RCA - RCA SPLITTER - RCA to COAX - 75 Feet COAX - COAX to RCA - PLUG RCA in to VIDEO (yellow port) on TV. A Cable Spliter will not work. I tried several versions only way to split the video for me was an RCA splitter.

you can also limit the area of motion detection on the cameras. (my stove clock was setting off the motion detection.

Email me to view my system. Floppiedog7 @ gmail
Gave it a 4 because it does what it says just not great.

2 out of 5 eggsHorrible, hopefully it's just this one

Pros: Easy to configure and nice web GUI, when it works. Very well put together device that has a lot of potential if it were say.....open source. Video playback on the device is very good at 15fps, searching is pretty smooth and functional and relatively easy to search through events.

Cons: Camera's are very low quality. My dark brown couch is light blue, and my daughters red hair is blonde. Freezes daily and needs to be power cycled. About 3fps over net (local or remote) or via usb download. Can't mount drive in linux to pull raw files. Need to drop ActiveX security to low to get web GUI loaded. Setting sequence viewing will randomly freeze device. Pulled video is actually worse than diretly played back from device on tv, not just higher res monitor issues either, it's actually worse. And the quality settings have no difference in quality, a low quality shot of my car is identical to a highest quality shot.

Other Thoughts: I'm working with their support to try and resolve these issues, the hardware is solid and capable it just seems to have a LOT of bugs. The camera quality was expected at this price, but the device should actually work! I may return it shorty if they can't resolve the problems. Not a recommended buy!!!!!!! Two eggs simply because of build quality and it's potential.
