Upgraded DVR LTD2316ME
This review is from: LTS LTD816D8K 16-Channel H.264 Real Time Record DVR 8-Camera System Kit with 500GB and iPhone/Mobile Phone Live View
Pros: DVR LTD2316ME Can house a built in DVD burner (not included) with front panel tray access behind black magnetic flap. However the internal board hookups only allow two Sata connectors (one for the included 500GB hard drive and the other for either for 1 DVD burner or 1 internal Extra Hard Drive, but not both). Easy to hookup and fairly easy to connect to computer with Win7 64bit IE 9.0.6 through Qwest DSL modem. Just have to read the instructions very carefully and allow ActiveX controls for the IE to access your computer for setup. Once on your computer, you can access all the functions of the DVR through your modem just by accessing the IP address and entering the user name and password. You can also set the DVR to record on scheduled times to save your hard drive from burning up unlike the Qsee model I had. DVR is easy to manage the menus with mouse on the system or through network on computer.
Cons: Only one major con so far (depending how you look at it). Does not come with DVR that is pictured. I was not notified of the change to DVR. Instead it is the LTD2316ME model also available at Newegg, but it is however supposed to be a better model than the one pictured with LTD816D. Supposed to have better resolution (High Resolution VGA output up to 1280x1024) with smart phone capabilities for viewing on the net(but unable to verify for I don't have a smart phone yet).
Other Thoughts: Shipping was fast. Cameras are as pictured and will do the job and are not bulky like most cameras. I had a QSee System that lasted for 5 years before the hard drive chip on the motherboard failed to recognize the hard drives anymore. Video and program worked, but no more recording to harddrive. SO hopefully the LTS model will live up to its name. I have only had the LTS dvr for a week, but it is working so far and is compatible to my BNC cameras I already own.
