4 out of 5 eggsOfficial instructions from Zmodo!

Pros: OK, this watch made me crazy, I didnt know how to make it work. So I emailed Zmodo! Zmodo replied the same day!! Here are the instructions (Hope I will help someone who needs help as I did!) :

C10408BK-AD Operation Instructions:

Buttons:
Top left - photo
Bottom left - video
Top right - mic

Operation:
To turn on:
Press & hold the Video button until the red light turns blue
To take a picture:
Press the Photo button. The blue light will flash 3 times, then go out.
To take a video:
Press the Video button. The blue light will flash 3 times, then go out. Camera is now recording video. To stop, press the Video button. The blue light will flash 3 times, then go out.
To record audio:
Press & hold the Photo button. The blue light will flash 3 times, then go out. Camera is now recording audio.
To set time:
Plug the watch into the computer. Open the retaining removable storage folder for the watch.
Create a text document file and label it 'time' (with all lower case letters). Next, open the text document and input a four digit year, two digit month, and two digit day (ex. 2000.09.08). Then, click space-bar and type two digit hour (in a military hour format), two digit minute, and two digit seconds (ex. 14.30.00). The full time format on the text document should read the following: ex. 2000.09.08 14.30.00 (after this click enter). Finally, save the file and exit from the text document file. Close out the removable storage folder and then disconnect the watch from the computer. Power off and on the watch, and then date and time will be updated.

Cons: Instructions were not on the package. (were Chinese) :S

4 out of 5 eggsSkip the distructions(Instructions)

Pros: Excellent in the right hands. Set aside 4hrs if you want to use it like a pro. In recording mode there is no detectable Lights. It will do everything it says it will, Photos, video and motion detection. Practice over and over using it in different positions and modes until your comfortable enough to cover the usb cover(Middle left knob and unscrews by turning counter clockwise) and have some fun. (PART 1) Lets get started by understanding 3 main knobs and functions. First is the Time Setting Knob(Right side middle knob), It operates just like any other. Second is Lower left knob, Used to start, stop recordings, turn on/off and place in standby.
Third is upper left knob, used to take pictures and place in motion detection mode.
Next is understanding blinking lights and how to use them.(Easy to use if you can remember 2-1-2 will explain). #1. Using bottom left knob Press and Hold for 2 Secs. This will produce a Solid Blue Light which means the watch is ready to use and in standby mode

Cons: Directions are one notch below pittiful and plan on buying a magnifying glass to read the Jibberish that looks like it was written using a cheap translator program, Chinese to English. (I will keep it simple so anyone can understand). Very dark picture quality in low level indoor lighting, 60 watt lighting or lower. Knob covers are very small and easy to drop and lose if you have big hands. Its great in motion detection setting but make sure you put it somewhere that conceals it or else you will need another one to video record who stole it! It is a good looking piece that will attract the attention of a thief. Sound quality while the second hand is active amplifies the watches moving parts which creates very loud ticking over video audio. It is best to pull out the time setting knob before you record which stops the watches moving parts sound from being recorded.

Other Thoughts: (PART 2) #2. Next Press and Hold same knob for One Second. This will produce 3 blinking blue lights which means "You are now Recording". Depending on the model watch aim your lens. Some have lens @ 6'O'clock, others @ 2 O'Clock. Record however long.
#3. To Stop Recording Press and hold same knob for 2 seconds. This will produce 3 Red blinking lights. Remember the 2-1-2, I mentioned earlier? Thats what it stands for. (2 sec. hold to get ready(Solid Blue), 1 sec. Hold to start recording (3 blinking Blue), 2 sec. hold to stop recording (3 quick blinking Red). That concludes recording video. (Part 3) To take pictures or use Motion detector Place watch in standby as explained above, only this time Use The Upper Left Button to Use. Press upper button one sec. and it will take a picture turning light from solid blue(Standby) to red(Snap Picture) and back to blue(Standby). That concludes Photos.
For Motion Detector Go Back to Standby.Press and hold same knob 2 sec.(REC.) then one sec. to stop

2 out of 5 eggsI wouldn't recommend buying this watch

Pros: Camera isn't too bad considering the fact the the watch was under $50.

Cons: Too large for my wrist. Feels like it will break if i touch it. Camera takes a while to learn how to use. Videos have a loud ticking sound in the background if you don't pull out the time set knob. The box that it comes in is made for a completely different watch.

Other Thoughts: Would be cool if it was more durable and had a better and easier to use camera, but then it would have to cost a lot more.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: You gotta know what your getting into when you buy this watch. Your getting an HD camera in a watch for $50, if your expecting the watch to be a Rolex your going to be disapointed.

Video quality is bad compared to camcorder, but awesome considering it's in a watch.

I like how they were smart enough to turn off the LED when your recording. I was worried I'd be walking around recording people with this Red LED on my watch, but it turns off when you record so the watch is very discrete.

Cons: The watch part is ultra cheap. Wristband is rubber, other than telling time all the other functions are painted on.

I had to RMA this because the first one I got the watch mechanism was busted and you couldn't set the time.

Manual is in Engrish, almost impossible to understand.

Other Thoughts: Jeeze reading the reviews for this thing people mad that they didn't get a Tissot. A $50 for a watch is pretty cheap to begin with.

2 out of 5 eggsNot to be taken seriously

Pros: For what it is and what it cost, the video is great. I would recommend pulling the watch set knob out while recording, otherwise your video will have the "tick-tick" sound of the watch. Also make sure you read the instruction addenda below. I was worried the size of the watch would not make it useful, but the watch is a normal size even for smaller wrists.

Cons: Just about everything else. Don't waste your time with the instructions, and definitely do not put the disc in your computer. I didn't, but I hear it wasn't successful for others. Bring the cakes! It does the mother!

1 out of 5 eggsMisleading Product

Pros: Camera is decent.

Cons: Thermometer on the watch face doesn't work.
Tide feature on the watch face doesn't work.
The box and manual that the watch came in didn't match the watch.
The manual informs you on how to turn the camera on, but that is it.
Doesn't look water resistant and doesn't advertise it being so on the watch.

1 out of 5 eggsCheap and unreliable, no manual

Pros: Has a lot of features, that's why I ordered this item!

Cons: 1. Not water resistant.
2. Inadequate product manual in the box.
3. The watch described in the manual is different from the one in the box.

Other Thoughts: I am going to return this, once I figure out how to do that. The RMA page doesn't have a reason selection (for return). It has a field to describe why I am returning the item. But even after filling that up, when I submit the form, it says "Please select a reason for returning the item."!!!!

1 out of 5 eggsBad even as a toy

Pros: External view

Cons: Bought as a toy spy watch for kids. Instruction in the package is for different older model. Drivers are for Win98/ME. Update time utility in Chinese, no use for US market. Microphone did not work. Picture/video quality terrible. Additional hands are not functioning. Mechanically not sound, waterproof with this mic sounds ridiculous. The company makes reasonable security DVR systems, but has no clue in the watch market.

4 out of 5 eggsConfusing, but effective

Pros: Waterproof and rugged. Matches my Casio G'z One Brigade perfectly. Keeps accurate time. Has a rechargeable battery that you can charge via USB. The video camera and still picture functions work exactly as they should. Windows 7 recognizes the watch without having to install the included driver CD.

Cons: The included instructions booklet is terrible. I can't say for the non English side of the instructions, but the part I could read was not very helpful. I spent a good hour figuring out that the booklet explained the different light flashes to functions, so I docked it an egg for poor translation

Other Thoughts: I'm going to attempt to do a better job than the manufacturer at explaining the procedures for capturing pictures and video.

To capture video:

1. Press the lower left button until the LED activates and is a solid BLUE. This is standby mode.

2. Press it again until the LED flashes BLUE three times and then turns off. You are now recording video.

3. Press it, and this time hold it down, until you see a RED LED flash three times. The watch has now saved the video and is in the off setting. Alternatively, you could simply press until the solid BLUE turns on (before the three RED) to put it back in standby mode.

To capture still images:

1. Press the lower left button until the LED is a solid BLUE.

2. Press the upper left button once. The LED will blink. That button acts as the camera shutter. The watch will have taken the picture and will return to standby.

3. To power down, just like with video, hold down the lower left until the LED flashes RED three times.
