Get the Big Picture

The image on the left depicts the video image difference between various video streaming technologies. Analog systems typically provide top resolution of 960x480 pixels, which is significantly smaller than 720p HD.

720p provides more viewing pixels (1280x720 pixels), which translates into a higher resolution image with amazing details and superior recognition. Captures a wider, undistorted, digital image that provides an accurate aspect ratio and more detailed video for superior recognition.

Pain-Free Installation — Plug and View On the Go

Installing an sPoE NVR system is so simple, you can do it yourself. sPoE IP cameras transmit both power and video along the same network cable, which means you only need to connect one cable to each camera. Plug in your recorder and connect your cameras; your system will automatically begin recording video.

What Has Been Improved?

P2P network protocol has been added to approve more network service companies. In most conditions, as long as you get Internet access, the strong network penetration lets you easily visit your NVR remotely after the initial QR-Code scan setup.

Access Your System from Anywhere

  • Operating system support: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7
  • Compatible monitoring browsers: Internet Explorer 7.0 / 8.0 /9.0 / 10.0 /11.0, please use IE 7.0 / 8.0 /9.0 under Windows 8

Weatherproof Metal for Indoor and Outdoor Durability

The cameras are encased in weatherproof aluminium metal at an IP 65 rating to ensure they can withstand prolonged outdoor exposure. An Ingress Protection rating of 65 means the camera is constructed to be completely protected from dust and typical adverse rain conditions.

3-Axis Mounting Bracket

The versatile 3-axis mounting brackets allow each bullet IP camera to be mounted to just about any surface. With the screw holes designed both on top and below the camera, the pivot allows mounting to vertical and horizontal surfaces.

Motion-Detection with Email Alerts

Four Cables Included

This kit includes four cables in two kinds of length (2 in 50ft, 2 in 80ft) offering you the flexibility to customize your layout. You can even purchase up to 165 feet of Cat5e ethernet cable to extend the transmit distance.

Built-in 2.8mm Wide Angle Lens

These cameras are equipped with a fixed 2.8mm wide angle lens, which provides a 90° field of vision to see more areas of the scene. With the four cameras being set in the important spots, you can easily cover the whole scene of your home and your shop.

Multitasking, Multi-Level User Management

The system is all about versatility. Pentaplex operation allows multitasking: view, record, playback, back up, mobile phone view and remote access simultaneously. Up to 16 different users can be established to let you invite your members to watch together.

3 out of 5 eggsGood cameras, system unreliable at times.

Pros: Very cheap
Easy to setup.
Could be monitor from computer*, and mobile devices (Android & iOS) remotely.
Only one cable per camera.

Cons: Email alert might not work depending on email provider. I could not get Microsoft Outlook or Google Gmail to work.
The system cannot find hard drive at times, or it thinks the hard drive is not formatted. May have to reboot system hard drive to go back online.
Only works with Internet Explorer in Compatibility View, there is not support for Chrome or Firefox.
The software (Zviewer) to access live video and recordings needs work.
Cameras won't refocus if system is reboot in the dark.

Other Thoughts: If you want a reliable system look elsewhere, but you will pay a higher price.
Make sure to open the package and setup the system and test cameras before installing them.
Even thought the system is cheap, I do expect the features included to work as they should.
On a computer you will have to use Zviewer or Internet Explorer since the NVR is not accessible with Chrome nor Firefox.

5 out of 5 eggsHard Drive Failure wasn't a failure

Pros: 3rd review - wish newegg would just let me update reviews instead.
So I bumped down my overall review because I thought I had a hard drive failure. I was away for a few days and couldn't physically be there to check it out. I got great support from Zmodo. The first automatic re-format of the hard commonly fails (according to their phone support), so once I got there I just re-formatted it again, and it was fine! They gave me an RMA if I wanted to send the DVR back for a new one (but I didn't have to)!

I've had it for a few months now and have caught a lot of fishy activity. Most notable a guy peeking over my fence and a USPS person throwing my package.
*Great picture quality, was able to very easily make out the details of those people. For example, not enough quality to read license plates driving by, but plenty enough to see the rest of the details of the car.
*DDNS still working
*Infrared still working
*Haven't had to reboot the DVR even once
*Made it through the wind and rain of a few thunder storms

Cons: *Wish they provided one or 2 cameras with a different lens. I really really like the wide angle (allows you to see a huge perspective), but it would be nice to have a more "zoomed-in" picture in some locations.
*Still no Firefox and/or Chrome compatibility
* The camera mounts aren't great, as I stated in my 1rst review. One mount I've had to re-tighten because the camera angle shifted.

2 out of 5 eggsHard Drive failure

Pros: Pros - love the color and HD appearance when watching. Love how its PPoE. The resolution and built in OS that operates this system were just as important. Now a few months have passed and I have become quite familiar with this system. I like the design being metal and not plastic. like how it comes with extra long ethernet cables.

Cons: Cons - Operating System operates real slow and not sure but it should be keyboard compatible as well not just mouse.

Its not FireFox compatible
Hard drive crashed and lost video history after it got close to filling up. ?? Known issue according to ZMODO site. NOT happy. I thought it was supposed to just record over old data?
Camera connectivity is not immediate when logging in from browser.
Android App has a delay when launching cameras even when connected to home network
Wish cameras came in BLACK to be more discreet
Sensetivity on camera setting can only be TOO HIGH or TOO LOW. No happy medium when setting up. Did this and setup email notifications and got over 300+ emails while I was at work. Had to turn off to get it to stop. Sensitivity is not consistent. Tried all settings and have been playing with them to get it equal. Have notifications turned off because there is no happy medium.
Not GIG NETWORK supported only 10/100 mb. Should be higher since this is a security purpose and video data is network dependent.
Chat Support - wait over 30 minutes with no reply and kept saying "3 visitors waiting". This was my first time reaching out for support. Not good if your expecting product support.

Other Thoughts: Why does one of my camera constantly make a clicking noise when switching from night to day view? Always disconnecting. And now hard drive failure or just got full? Wasnt there a fail safe feature for when a hard drive gets close to filling up? Now I have no history from all the previous months. Is there an update or something to enhance the operating system and or features?

2 out of 5 eggseverything is there to make it good, but its not

Pros: -Everything you need for an easy install
-Cameras are small and somewhat esthetically acceptable
-Cameras powered by the network cable, no need to supply electrical outlet at every viewpoint
-good basic kit for a home in a low risk neighbourhood, as making camera visible is a deterrent on its own (as long as they dont know all the trouble it is to actually access what ever was recorded or if the recording actually had visible images)
-enough cable length supplied to cover normal sized house from every corner
-Zmodo community forum can help you solve some minor issues
-Zmodo has some youtube video with good help to setup things like router programming.

Cons: -Mounting brackets are weak and screwing holes come in pre-stripped so get yourself some white electrical tape to secure them into position.
-Image quality gets terrible between total darkness or total brightness. (Dusk and dawn)
-Sometime the cameras get stuck into blurry grainy vision until next light level change (next day...)
-Archaic unfriendly UI from Zviewer is incomplete, some functions can only be accessed trough Internet explorer ONLY which will give you tons of error before you can actually get it to open. (you need to configure lots of things in internet options)
-playback on computer is not Hi-Res unless you figure out how to download from the internet explorer window as native Zviewer app will not let you download it
-Mobile app is terribly designed, lacks access to recording if you are away, virtually useless if you are not home. it will give you lots of "network error detected"
-Mobile app playback (when home) does not allow for fast reading, so you better know exactly when it happened if you want to review it or waste a day watching
-briefly put, you better hide the NVR so they don’t steal it, but you'll need quick and easy physical access to it to operate it and get videos out of it (and a monitor hooked to it)
-Movement alarm is either extremely paranoid or totally blind.
-Rebooting cameras to prevent them from crashing SHOULD NOT be done during nighttime because they wont come back on in night mode.
-No NVR access for linux users, even though the whole darn thing is probably programmed in linux
-ZMODO service is nonexistent, no reply to emails, no answer to the "live chat" fortunately they have a community forum.
-4 channels only, impossible to add cameras to the NVR

Other Thoughts: I wish I had not been so stressed because of the break-in that lead me to buying those and waited to have an extra 150$ and get the lorex 8 cam kit

worst of it is most issues (except for the brackets) could be fixed by minor firmware and software upgrade of all components. But Zmodo is so absent from the game, we do not know if any of this will ever be fixed

1 out of 5 eggsHard Drive Failur

Pros: I wrote a review after 1 month of ownership - all was good.

Cons: Now it's close to 3 month, and the Hard Drive has failed. I'm getting "No storage medium!" message, and all recording are gone. Rebooting the device does nothing.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsSo far, so good @ 1 month

Pros: Cheap - GREAT VALUE (bought on Flash for $220)
IP Camera / NVR
Included HDD and Cables
Decent first-party software
2.8mm lens provide wide viewing angle
Remote viewing
Single cable for each camera

Cons: Big Ethernet connector makes it hard to fit in conduit
2.8mm lens - Things start to look grainy at about 20 feet.
Unable to send footage/backups off-site
Night vision is ok indoors, sub-par outdoors
Included cable really isn't CAT5e (only 2 twisted pair per cable) - but it works.
Included mounts are very minimal and cheap - but work.

Other Thoughts: I set it up in my house for a week, running, to make sure everything was working properly.
I setup each camera and the NVR to obtain a static IP.
Opened up ports on the router so I can view from anywhere - however, this is not needed if you view it with their software (Zsight,, etc.)

After a week of testing, I finally started to run the wires through the house. If you use the included cables, you have to use a 3/4" bit. If you want to cut the end off and re-terminate, you can use a much smaller bit. So far, I've only mounted 2 camera, still thinking about where to put the other 2.

I'm very pleased so far. I'll update my review after a few months more of use.

1 out of 5 eggsOne camera dead after 2.5 month

Pros: cheap, adequate image quality, easy to install.

Cons: cheap quality built, camera dead easily

Other Thoughts: system got installed for two and a half month already, worked fine at the beginning but today i just realized one of the cameras dead, tried everything to fix it, NO LUCK to bring the image back. As i am writing this review, i don't know how to deal with the deal camera, i don't know if i can still return it or just forget it. I don't recommend this system to people according to my own experience with this brand. Buy some other brands from cost co or best buy with a little extra more money, you might find it's worth it at the end.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsAdequate

Pros: The device worked pretty well and found all the camera right out of the box and started recording immediately.
The device does support motion detection grids that you can adjust if for instance your camera faced a rode you could disable part of the screen from setting off the motion detection from recording every time a car drove by.

Cons: The biggest problem I had with this device is the web interface only supported internet Explorer. Chrome and firefox you will get a blank page once you connect. And if you were lucky to even get into the web interface with out crashing IE every one in 3 login attempts or getting constant connection errors you were able to look at more advanced features and pull video off the drive. It was a little cumbersome to navigate the video output interface and I had to click all over the place to find all the settings. Once you found the menus you wanted the Function of the settings was mostly clearly communicated.

Other Thoughts: I returned this device for my inability to connect to the web other than with IE, which was really buggy.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty good system for the price

Pros: Great security for the price:
Easy to install
PoE - so only one cable to each camera is needed
Simple set-up and auto-detect cameras
Good quality pictures
Playback is better when going directly through the NVR than through the phone software.
Ability to access camera feeds via phone when away is nice

Cons: Software to access the cameras via phone or PC is fairly basic and works okay but it's not very robust. Playback on phone could be much better.
Mounting bracket for cameras could be better. Needs a better way to lock the cameras in place so bumping them does not move the camera so easily.
Provided cables are average quality (thin wires)
Because the system is better to use by accessing the NVR directly, I set up a second monitor dedicated to the camera system.

Other Thoughts: For under two hundred and fifty dollars this is a very solid choice, so I gave it 5 eggs. I use a professionally installed PoE system at work and installed this system for my home. Both systems can be accessed via cell phone. The pro system is by far better in quality and the software is way more robust but the price was MUCH higher - thousands of dollars higher.
