2 out of 5 eggsNot bad for the money

Pros: It's inexpensive and does what it needs to do. I have owned this car cam for over a year now.

Cons: After over a year of daily use it actually still works. One problem is if it's hot outside the playback screen gets distorted with different horizontal lines. This only happens with the windows rolled up and temps over 90 degrees. The battery only holds a charge now for around 5 minutes. The included suction mount broke off about a week ago...the glue or whatever holds the rubber suction to the plastic came off. I had to use another suction mount off a GPS for the fix.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet

Pros: Good quality. It's 40$ what do you expect??? 1080p with 3D and 7.1 surround???? it works great. the memory card when i put it in my pc had all the videos in about 2.38min clips i don't know why. Big deal the is a 1 or 2 second lag from real time to what you see on the screen. are you looking at the device or the road??? the night vision is awesome. you don't see any lights but on the screen it looks like there there. That will work great for pranks!!!!

Cons: Doesn't drive my car? I think the battery will only last for about 30min to a hour. (you better hurry up on your pranks... lol) the speaker it has is really low even with your ear pressed to it you can't hear almost anything. but the sound capture works great.

Other Thoughts: Take out the battery if you leave it in the car. Because as with any device that is connected to your car weather it be a phone gps or radar detector every time you start your car it shocks the battery damaging it every time you do so.

3 out of 5 eggstoy camera

Pros: its a toy camera, it works tho but dont expect hi-def. Easy to use and transfer to pc. The windshield mount doesn't vibrate. Pretty much a low end gadget.

Cons: no cons unless your expecting a $500 dashcam

Other Thoughts: it's probally worth the sale price or less

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: on sale for $54 free shipping, has good features.

Cons: poor quality jerky video even with a class 10 sd card, reminds me of dialup, wont buy again.

Other Thoughts: i mounted and used a kodak 803 as a dashcam for several years, it worked well and the video was great, it was starting to have problems so i got two vonnic's, after two weeks of using them i went and got another kodak, i have the vonnic's for sale.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of Garbage

Pros: It takes regular size SD card, and looks compact enough like a radar detector.

Cons: The so called High resolution is just a 2x multiplier they did on the recording process. The default res is 640 X 480 and they doubled it to 1280 x 960, which on paper looks pretty decent, but WRONG. It just doubled the blurry recordings.

As far as recorded details, it has unpredictable stutter 1 second delay, off my class 10 SD card, blurry image, can't map out the license tag unless park right on someone's bumper. All and all this goes to garbage category, wasting money to buy this junk, you have been warned

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value

Pros: Purchased this for my 16 yr old son's car following his 1st accident and conflicting stories with the other driver regarding who was at fault. Really wish I had purchased this before the accident. For the incredibly low price point, the camera works perfectly. It has an unbelievably wide field of view and takes solid pictures at night. It will clearly show the lights and movement of cars in a nearly 180 degree field of view. When he starts the car, it starts recording. When he turns off the car, it stops recording. It records all audio, so we would be able to know if he is talking on the phone. It is not high res enough to capture license plate numbers, but everything else is great. Popped the card out of the DVR and stuck it in a laptop, and the videos play like any other video. it has a nice time stamp overlay on all videos. And one 32gb card will record about a week's worth of driving, then it overwrites the oldest video clips in a loop.

Cons: Not high-resolution enough to read license plate numbers, but we don't need that feature. Also, does not ahve a GPS, but we bought a cheap GPS trakker separately to log location and speed (which is concealed in the trunk to avoid theft.)

Other Thoughts: For the low price, you can't go wrong. We're going to buy a second unit to point out the backside of the car.

1 out of 5 eggsLooks Nice But Is Defective

Pros: Looks nice, offers useful features for low price.

Cons: Will not operate from battery or USB, only DC power.

Blue light on power button indicates it has power & no red (indicating charging) when DC connected.

Other Thoughts: Quality control would limit customer hassle

4 out of 5 eggsUnique product, for the money

Pros: The product combines features that are not found in any other similar product, certainly nowhere near its price range: low-light/darkness/IR video recording to a circular buffer, with motion-activated and DC-power-activated triggering. It has a display with menus to configure and review recordings, and for live-video monitoring.
It comes with a long DC power cord that can be routed for a permanent installation in a car or in the home (e.g., using an AC 12V socket adapter). It has a backup Li-Ion battery, so the video would not be lost when power is cut, and you can even use it on battery power.
The night-vision works two ways: the low-light sensitivity is very good, but when there is no light at all, the camera will see only what the IR LEDs can illuminate, which is right around 4-5 feet. Still, pretty good if you wanted to film your sleep (e.g., CPAP users).
The recorder uses SDHC cards up to 32GB, which would yield around 8 hours of video at the 720x480 resolution.

Cons: The overall quality is rather low, typical of technical designs seen in most Chinese-designed products. The video quality is very low, the camera is definitely not HD: first, because HD video has certain defined requirements, second, because even though the resolution of the video (1280x1024) is higher than SD, that doesn't make it HD - it is simply interpolated. The latency of both triggers is rather high - 2-3 seconds are lost before the video starts (or resumes). The battery seems to have a very short life, so the device must be used on DC power. The built-in USB card reader is very slow, so you should pop out the SD card and use your own reader.
The included mount is rather sturdy but it has come off my windshield several times now. Aiming is not easy as it has two axes of motion, not a ball-mount (the third axis - the 1/4" tripod mount, cannot be fully used as it has only a few threads to keep it in place).

Other Thoughts: As with most similar devices, the video format is Motion JPEG and the audio is uncompressed PCM. You will need the appropriate codec to play it (e.g., ffdshow). The bit-rate is around 10-15 Mbit/s at 720x480 (recommended mode). I will attach a sample video to a separate review since my last attempt was lost when I tried that.
Overall, I recommend this product for anyone who needs something of the kind. You can spend upwards of $300 for a product that would have most (but not all) of its features, so for what it sells here, it is a bargain. Just don't expect too much.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent & Cheap

Pros: Get a 32GB card and Set the resolution to the highest and at 15 minutes. Gives good video quality BUT you must download the video, THEN watch it off your Hard Drive as the USB2.0 does NOT have the throughput to play off unit live! (probably why bad reviews below). Sound is the usual for a typical cheap unit - however records every pothole and seam I run over VERY well!?!!

Cons: Definitely looks like a Radar Detector which is only an issue here in VA and some others. (when the cop pulls you over just spin the camera around to look at him too!) The IRD lights are great BUT not for auto use. So, night time is pretty dark with lighting compensation issues, but images are reasonable enough to use for court - what da ya want for $50? Codec is not in MS or QT so probably not true AVI file - Real Player works fine.
