Don't use near a TV
This review is from: First Alert SCO7CN Talking Combination Alarm
Pros: Extremely loud
Cons: Can't be in the same room as your TV. In the description it mentions that the unit is "remote controlled" to allow muting of the smoke alarm in the event it's set off by cooking, steam, etc. However the remote is not something that is included with the alarm. It uses your standard TV IR remote. The problem is if the alarm is in it's normal state (not sounding) the remote activates a Test Mode and sounds the alarm! Not fun every time you change channels or turn the volume up or down. Not so useful if the alarm is anywhere close to your AV set up.
Other Thoughts: Guess it would be fine in a room without any IR remote use.
