The LG BD370 Network Blu-ray Disc player brings you breathtaking high-definition images and the highest quality audio you could ever imagine! You’ll marvel at the clarity and full-color spectrum of every scene, while Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, and DTS decoding pulls you into the action.
LG technology also offers backward compatibility with your legacy CDs and DVDs. NetCast Entertainment Access technology lets you enjoy entertainment from CinemaNow, Netflix and YouTube right on your big screen. With DLNA certified network capability, you can also access videos, photos and music from your home network.
One HDMI port connects to your HDTV Home Theater System or other digital device. Combination of excellent image quality, super fast loading times and its currently unbeatable feature set make it the one you’ve waited for!
Pros: Great blu-ray picture quality. Starts quickly. Has the ability to upgrade firmware over the internet. Coax & Optical digital outputs. Plays music and picture files from USB. Blu-ray live. NetFlix & You Tube support. 1080p 60/24. Wide codec support for video.
Cons: No on board ram. No USB port on the back, just poorly placed one on front behind hinged panel. NetFlix is choppy when output is set to 1080p. Won't play video files from flash drives.
Other Thoughts: If you plan on using blu-ray live, you need to supply your own 1gig usb flash drive. Not a big deal, but the only place to plug it in is the one and only usb port located on the front of the machine behind a hinged door. When anything is plugged into the port, you can't close the door. That goes under the "what were you thinking?" category. Netflix playback is great, except it isn't smooth when output is set to 1080p. If you change to 1080i or less, it renders great. Pain in the behind to change output from one setting to another to just to watch netflix. Also, not being able to play video from the USB port is a let down. I don't think there is anything that couldn't be corrected with firmware updates. (aside from the USB port behind the door, hello?) Fix these, and I would give it a five. Add the ability to play networked storage media files, and I would give it a 6 (if it existed).

Unreliable so far; rotten customer service

Pros: Good Blu-Ray playback & excellent Netflix internet VOD user interface and playback.
Cons: Extremely flaky HDMI output. Always works with Blu-Ray playback, but not reliable when using the unit's main menu. It must be yet another Blu-Ray unit software bug.
Other Thoughts: LG support is difficult to reach. It takes numerous menu selections to reach agents. The one I reached would not listen, even to the most carefully worded sentences. He was surly and combative at best. When I asked for a supervisor, he refused. I've filed a warranty claim with the LG web site, but don't expect much with such rotten service agents.

Works greater after getting the network configured

Pros: $100 cheaper than the competition; Great video quality; netflix access; youtube streaming;
Cons: The network stack on the device is a bit persnickety. The system would not connect reliably to the internet through my home network (BD370->switch->switch->router->cable modem->internet) until i set the QoS (Quality of Service) on the router for the BD370. The BD370 reaches out to multiple external servers to authorize streaming and to grab the artwork for the movies. If those fail then the connections fail.
Other Thoughts: I work in the field of computer and network security. Configuring finding the problem and configuring the router is primarily an annoyance. LG should provide step-by step instructions to configure routers for those less technically minded.

BD 370 is working smoothly, now
Reviewed By: mesopotamian on 11/14/2009

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Great price, all the features I wanted. First firmware upgrade went smoothly despite the fear instilled by other reviews. The video playback (DVD, BLURAY) is very nice and the controls are reasonable. However, I do second (third?) the comment about having to aim the remote: aim at the box to get it right. :)
Cons: The packet handling on this device is a bit persnickety. The BD370 goes through three switches in my house to get to the router: Netgear FS605 switch -> Netgear FS605 switch -> DLink DSS 8+ switch -> DLink DIR 655 router In order to get reliable connectivity to the internet I had to (1) assign a static ip address to the BD370 and then (2) configure the router for QoS and give priority to the device.
After I did that things seemed hunky dory. :)
Other Thoughts: My guess is that the persnickety network stack on this system needs work (hence the next gen model that costs an extra $100?). I work in computer/network security so tracking down the problem is primarily an annoyance, but most folks are just gonna return the system to the store.

Nice Player

Pros: Excellent picture quality. Good upconversion.
Cons: No sleep mode - meaning timed shut down. The Toshiba HD-DVD player I bought this LG Blu-ray player to replace use to shut off fifteen minutes after movie ended. A matter a fact, all the Toshiba DVD players power off after fifteen minutes after they've gone into screen saver mode, that's if you set that option to on in the players setup.
Other Thoughts: Overall it seems to be a very well made solid player. I hope to get many years of service from this unit.
