1 out of 5 eggsLG Web is Awful

Pros: Offers subscription based streaming content

Cons: Does not support FLASH type web content which is 99% of web video. The YouTube content is NOT YouTube domain, it is through LG portal so you can't login to your youtube account.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks for me @ 1080p

Pros: DLNA, can stream 1080p mkv files, wifi capable Netflix, Pandora, Hulu Plus

Cons: Slow interface, not as nice as Apple TV, sometimes freezes and has to be reset.

Other Thoughts: Was about to purchase this on newegg when another retailer placed this on sale for $49.00. After getting it home and using it purchased another two to stream 1080p movies from a Synology NAS box. Originally had an AppleTV2 which was working well, but i hated having to run itunes to use the ATV.

5 out of 5 eggsAWESOME VALUE!!

Pros: -Value, value, value. What do you want for so cheap?
-WiFi works great.
-MKVs are the shizle

Cons: -not sure about the web browsing. I suppose you'd need a usb splitter thing to hook up a keyboard and mouse.

-remote is so, so. It's not chinsy. I'm just not fond of the arrows part.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome unit, no Problems!

Pros: Netflix, Vudu, CinemaNox, Ama-zon, Hulu (coming soon), Daily Motion, MOG, Napster, Youtube, Accuweahther, etc...

has a web browser! obviously to expect non-computer based browsers to be EXACTLY like a PC browser is ridiculous.

USB Keyboard support

easy to use

UI is very fast

plays almost any file i throw at it!

the remote is very easy to use and the sensor on it for the mouse is very cool. just like a blackberry.

streaming over the network is easy! especially with Nero and with any other DLNA server.

Built in WiFi is very strong and works well.

Iphone and Anroid app to allow control

Cons: doesnt support 3D

browser will not get Flash 9 or 10 or HTML5 support...not a big deal. if you want video when you browse then use a PC like your supposed to!

Other Thoughts: there is no going back after purchasing this puppy! this is the cheapest and best way to upgrade a regular TV to become a SMart TV.

5 out of 5 eggsGood deal for an older system!

Pros: Easy to set up, good selection of video sources, WiFi easy, good video quality.. Small size, HDMI port give 1080i resolution to my LG SL80.

Cons: On Screen Keyboard is tedious to use, should have an external keyboard option for the USB connection. Remote control does not have readily found codes for a universal remote (Comcast model remote). Does not use my LG remote for my SL80, another remote unit added to the pile...

1 out of 5 eggsNeeds development

Pros: I was able to quickly get video, music and photos using DLNA to the device. has a somewhat appealing interface. Its also Capable of viewing media on Network CIFS shares.

Cons: The UI is buggy. Trying to get connected to a CIFS share was tricky. Typing anything into the UI (usernames, passwords) was torture. The web browser is slower then IE on my 6.0 windows mobile phone, enough said.

The remote is useless for this type of device. I read that it had an android app to remote control the device better, The app would not recognize this device.

Without a better remote control this device is made useless

Other Thoughts: I really bought this because it claimed to have a web browser and could view media from my network. it wasn't really good at either of these. It needs a good 6 mouths of development and a better remote/phone app.

gonna use windows media center I guess...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat after update

Pros: Plays all my music and .mp4/mkv blu-ray movies. Was a breeze to setup and its really small. Comes with a remote. Love this thing. I just needed a way to get all my movies to my tv and this thing does exactly that. You can also hook up an external hd to it and play all your media that way; this thing supports a ton of file types.

Cons: When I first got it, it was very slow like others have mentioned. Just make sure you do the firmware updates that come up, even though they sometimes take forever to update. So its not so much a con after you update but if you dont its annoying on how long everything takes. Small complaint but the remote needs to have good line of sight to work. Meaning if its behind something or around a corner with something blocking it, it wont work. Not a big deal for me but for people who need to have everything hidden all the time it might be a problem.

Other Thoughts: To the guy who said he couldnt get it to stream from his computer (and others)- you need to use the Nero MediaHome 4 that it came with. Thats why it came with it.....the program is super easy to use, literally. You put the disc in, install it which takes about 4 minutes, you select folders to share and once its done it will ask if you want to start the server. you click yes. now everytime you start your computer it will be in your task bar with the server running. Amazing. To the guy who said rewind and fast forward was slow, yes it is if you just use the back and forward buttons. If you press menu when a movie is playing and go the the reel icon where it has the time of movie (should be the second one down) and just hold down the right arrow button it will fast forward REALLY fast. Makes it really easy.

2 out of 5 eggsBuggy

Pros: Quality of video (on my 1080i CRT) is very good, streams nicely from my NAS (Synology DS210j) without problems.

Cons: User interface is very slow and cumbersome to use with the virtual keyboard. "Fast" forward is maybe 2X even when max'd at six arrows, which means it takes forever to move forward in a file. Going backwards, so far as I've been able to determine, doesn't work at all...it continues to skip forward (slowly) even when all six arrows point backwards. It does this both on the network and with an attached USB drive. Compared to my Asus HDP-R1, which isn't perfect, this LG offering is a joke, and a bad one at that. It doesn't handle ISO files, as the Asus does, and it's somewhat limited in what video formats it can read, again compared to the Asus. In fairness, I knew from the literature that it was more limited.

Other Thoughts: Maybe, with luck, firmware updates (there's been one already) will help...but until that time, this thing's close to useless for my application.

1 out of 5 eggsAll bugs, no results. What a shame.

Pros: Its small. Nice package. Built in Wifi that was no probs to set up. Was online in seconds with a great signal. I was looking for an alternative to a HTPC, with Netflix. I never usually buy things that no-one else has reviewed, but I had such high hopes... This tech is evolving fast so I hoped the latest thing might be the greatest...

Cons: Incredibly slow browsing. Every menu selection takes 5 to 10 seconds. It wouldnt stream anything from my PC. Tried from Media Player, homegroup or PS3 media server. Locked up.
Cycled power. It updates firmware so I'm encouraged... Took about 1 hour to go from 7.79.102 to 8.79.118!! Tried playing simple music files and it was slow but it worked! Low quality mpegs took about 20 seconds to start then it would play fine but the remote was unresponsive. Tried streaming DVD rip (Video TS) and it freezes up. Doesnt show movie art either. It froze up all the time. After a single evening I am done.

Other Thoughts: Newegg rocks. No doubt the RMA will be a breeze. What a shame this product was so poor.
