1 out of 5 eggsdead on day 32 too late for return

Pros: 2 days too late to return.the motor vibrates at such a terrible noise i looked out window thinking was construction work.too loud to even use.even at 39.00 which it was when i paid obviously 39 too much.Should of known just can't get a blue ray that cheap.I still like lg but not refurbished stuff. Was well packed so the damage was it,not shipping.

Cons: doesn't work so worth zero

Other Thoughts: too bad was nice picture when worked

5 out of 5 eggsgreat little blu ray player

Pros: price of course.I found not a tiny scratch on it.plays blu rays and dvds just fine.

Cons: well i have to choose music, photo or movie right away from a data disk can't just view all folders at once.same with usb.very laggy about exiting too.no batteries came with. The instruction maunual is a joke but if kinda tech savy you'll not need it.

Other Thoughts: I have lots of bills :( if it wasn't for this refurbish i wouldn't have got a blu ray.glad i took the chance on it.It is very small/compact more than i thought would be.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic player

Pros: Works perfectly !

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I bought this on sale from newegg for 35 bucks, what a deal ! After reading the reviews I'll admit I was a little hesitant, but I'm sure glad I went for it. The DVD up conversion is GREAT, (at least the dvd's I tried). I found no need to update the firmware as it works perfectly out of the box, I'm a firm believer in "if it aint broke dont fix it" . If you are looking for a BASIC PLAYER with no smart features, GET ONE when they go on sale while they still have them!!!

5 out of 5 eggsLowest price Blu-Ray player around!

Pros: • small, compact size
• plays many different blu-ray/DVD/audio CD formats
• USB port for digital content and software updates via flash drives
• intuitive menu system
• compact remote which controls the TV also
• great price at $29.99

Cons: • no major cons, other than these refurbished units show some sign of use, which isn't all that surprising. But they are working well.

Other Thoughts: I bought two of these. One had two slight dents on the top of the enclosure. Both work well, so for the price paid, I am very happy and would buy again.

Prior to receiving these, I downloaded the firmware update from LG's USA website, put it on a flash drive, and then updated both units via USB with zero problems. When I plugged in the flash drive, the player automatically asked to upgrade the firmware. The firmware update was very fast, probably under 10 seconds. I verified the update with the information screen. Strange that others have had problems updating firmware. Make sure your update comes from LG's USA website. When I first looked for an update for this player, I ended up on the LG Australian website, so check your country!

5 out of 5 eggssuperb media player including BR data discs

Pros: plays Blu-Ray and DVDs well, with no difference seen between this player and $130-$150 players on my main home entertainment system (7.2 Yamaha/Polk setup on 54" Panasonic plasma), but it really shines in its flexibility to play media from USB drives and from Blu-Ray data discs; the menu interface has multiple style choices available, some working better than others for reading filenames on data discs or USB drive data. This player replaced my existing Blu-ray player and my Argosy media player, in a tiny form factor and with a small remote that requires careful button pressing, but with the benefit of not taking up a bunch of space on my coffee table. Overall I am very happy, especially at this price point (by contrast the HDD media player I replaced, which I do also love using, cost 5 times more two years, has no optical, and therefore does not play commercial disks, and only has the advantage of an internal HDD). I used this LG player for two months on my main home entertainment system before deciding it was so good I would get another for the bedroom TV, this time the wi-fi model. That worked well for a month, so I got another of the basic models for the LG TV in another room and the remote control worked great with the TV so I don't need 2 remotes.

Cons: I have not upgraded the firmware, out of fear something bad might happen (as read in other reviews). Not much of a con, because I haven't noticed any missing or flawed functionality, but it does tend to make one wonder. Or maybe I'm just naturally prone to wondering. That's why I cannot take off an egg for this - it might just be my tendency to play out the what ifs related to the firmware upgrade.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended, especially if you have media to view on Blu-ray data discs. I cannot tell why they called these refurbs... probably returned to LG because of firmware issues, then they just fixed up the issue and now selling them for a song! Grab one now, before I buy all the rest.

2 out of 5 eggsNot worth the money

Pros: Small form factor, runs cool and quiet.

Cons: Very poor quality overall. Buggy firmware, handles different disks with a high disparity, inconsistent. Plays some disks so poorly the picture is grainy and very poor. The remote is a piece of junk.

Other Thoughts: Even for $35, this unit isn't worth it. My Samsung I sold when I bought this one was MUCH better.

3 out of 5 eggsNO HDMI CABLE

Pros: Cheap

Cons: No HDMI Cable included.

Other Thoughts: How am I suppost to hook this thing up to my TV? It's not like we all have spare HDMI cables laying around. Well, now I gotta wait another few days for an HDMI cable to come in the mail.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work out...too many problems. Don't waste your time, energy or money.

Pros: Refurb Price

Cons: Extremely buggy, firmware update is useless

Other Thoughts: Bought this refurbished for a second bedroom. I have yet to get through an entire BD or DVD without it freezing. Tried DVDs I've had for a while, tried to give the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were scratched. I knew there was real trouble when I played a brand new BD and the same thing happened. This thing would freeze at random points, 25 mins in, 47 mins in, etc.

Tried to do a firmware upgrade, directions given on LG's site were simple enough but the player didn't even do what it was supposed to do during the process. I did go to software information to verify that the new firmware was installed, and it was. I bought a warranty through Newegg, but why bother? I took a shot going refurb, didn't work out....though it usually does with Newegg. They're not at fault, just think LG sucks...and from other reviews/comments I've read, that sure seems the case. I'm going to pick up my brand new Samsung BD player today. $40 down the drain, could've been a lot worse. Don't waste your time with this. My brother also went refurb here on the Sony BDP-S185 and reports no issues...go with that one instead of this junk. FAIL!
