Other Thoughts: It's hard to rate the sound when the impedance is matched to a 12V DVD player's line outs etc.

Pros: Works nicely, even in NYC area where just about every FM frequency is occupied at high power. You can program a small set of frequencies for quick selection. The display is nice and clear.

Cons: Uses only the lower half of the FM band. The "subband" frequencies are accessible to analog tuners, but not to digital tuners. The power connector is a little tricky to attach or remove, but for most of us that's a one-time problem. It doesn't have anything to help you mount in on a dashboard.

Other Thoughts: I bought one of these for my brother and set it up in his car. Now I'm buying one for me. The transmitter isn't very powerful, but it doesn't have to be; the inverse square law is on your side, which means that when you're a few feet from the antenna a few milliwatts can overwhelm tens of kilowatts a mile or more away.

It allows you to preprogram up to six frequencies and get to them quickly with up-down buttons (instead of going through the whole band). It comes with powerline filter (L/C), which seems to be more important for keeping noise from going out from the unit than for keeping ignition or alternator noise from getting in. (I'm guessing the noise is from the display drivers; other noise sources aren't likely to be audible.)

Pros: Has a strong signal, frequency changes are a breeze.

Cons: I wish it had a 12v power supply. I know this is meant for installation in a vehicle, but I use a few of them around the house to broadcast content from a satellite receiver, a PC, and from my TV.
