5 out of 5 eggsExcellent antenna

Pros: I bought it and put it outdoor, excellent quality! I received all the channels in my area, half are US stations, which never seen in my area ( I live in Canada). Looking for another one for gift but it is out of stock.

1 out of 5 eggsNot much luck

Pros: I can't think of any

Cons: Could not get one channel!@#$!

Other Thoughts: I wasn't able to get any channels with this. I tried another antenna and I got two channels at least. When I bought it, it cost 15 dollars more too. Oh well

3 out of 5 eggsWoops, I did it again

Pros: I was hoping this would get me a signal that I was receiving OK on plain rabbit ears, but faded out when the leaves reappeared on all the trees between me and the transmitter 60 miles away.

Cons: It didn't happen.

I forgot that "amplification" is for boosting the signal before sending it down a long length of coax (like 50 feet or more). It is not for making too-weak signals "stronger" -- once a signal has dropped into the noise level, all the amplification in the world will not resurrect it, amplification can only boost the noise and the non-existent signal together, which doesn't help anything.

Other Thoughts: I buy an amplified rabbit ears once every 10 or 15 years, because I keep forgetting.

The proper application for this amplified antenna is to connect it to a piece of coax that's at least 50 feet long. If that's not part of your plan, then you will waste money on getting an "amplified" rabbit ears.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: Price! - on sale for $20
Allows my wife and I to watch digital over the air TV
Small enough to sit on top of our entertainment center

Cons: Not free cable tv
Doesn't pick up all stations
Affected by whether =(

Other Thoughts: Before getting this antenna, we were able to watch about 4 stations without it being interrupted and garbled. Now, we get about 25 stations and almost all of them are watchable.

For someone that does not watch much TV, this is a perfect solution. If you watch a lot of TV, get cable.

3 out of 5 eggsso-so

Pros: It's a compact antennae.

Cons: Not really big enough.

Other Thoughts: I was just mistaken from the picture about how big it was. Size matters when picking up over the air signals. Even with the amplifier, I see no improvement over any of the others I have tried. I was just hoping to get more than two and a half channels.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth the trouble

Pros: It's compact.

Cons: I have not been able to get it to receive any channels or any kind of signal. I have been trying off and on for the past month and a half with any progress.

Other Thoughts: Not happy, I guess I should have read the other reviews closer and not just skimmed them...

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We apologize for the inconvenience, and will be more than happy to handle this for you.

Poor signal reception might cause by
1. Signal sources - Most Digital signal is broadcasting in UHF. But there are y few TV stations still use VHF. You can find out how your local TV station http://transition.fcc.gov/mb/engineering/maps/ RMS-DA5600 is for UHF signal only. If you need VHF signal, this antenna is not your choice.

2. Insufficient or no signal amplification – Please check the Red LED light on the Cable adapter connect. If it is the LED is off, means the cable adapter or the power adapter are not able to provide power to amplified signal. Please contact us for replacement.

3. Improper location of the Antenna –
Behind the solid wall or not pointing at the signal direction.

4. Bad connection on coax cable and or connector.
5. Improper use signal splitters.

6. The tips to get better signal for any antenna are –
a. Outdoor is generally better
b. Higher is better
c. Closer with TV broadcasting transmitter is better

If you still find no signal after checking the step above, we will help to replace or refund at our cost. Your are welcome to contact rma@rosewill.com for any questions. We look forward to hear from you.

Best Regards,
Rosewill

1 out of 5 eggsAverage signal quality, incorrect display picture

Pros: Able to pick up some stations here in greater Los Angeles area, not most.

Cons: Purchased this Rosewill RMS HDA5000 to replace the 2" v-shape NOamplifier antenna hooked up to a HDTV. However, only got one more station after hooking up to this Rosewill. All the channel 9, 11, 31..... still not picking up. If hook up with the flat antenna came with the ATI-TV wonder card for my computer, have no problem to pick up those stations.

The display picture shows the unit lay flat. However according to Rosewill instruction, it need to mount vertically to a pole or install vertically indoor. And the precut hole is so big and wide, I still not able to mount on any pen or pensil....

Other Thoughts: Compare to the 4 or 5 indoor atenna, there is not much different in signal improvement. I was surprised to see this amplified antenna not picking up those stations that with a 12" flat fishbone non-amplified antenna is able to do so.
