3 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: When I got it working, it worked OK; hence the three stars.

Cons: It was DOA. Was going to send it back, but shipping costs were 2/3rds the price of the product. Decided write it off.

Other Thoughts: After about a week, decided to dig into it to see if I could fix it. There's a black plate inside the battery chamber at the nose of the unit. There were no contacts coming out of the plate. Slid out easily with the pair of needlenose pliers. Underneath the plate was the spring that's used as a contact. Put it in the center hole, slid the plate back in and voila. 3 stars because it work ok, only 3 stars because I had to fix it.

5 out of 5 eggsSuperb little flashlight

Pros: + Ridiculously bright
+ Ridiculously long distance of beam
+ Ridiculously long battery life
+ Ridiculously durable
+ Reasonably weatherproof

Cons: - Beam adjustment could stand to be just a little bit stiffer.

Other Thoughts: This is probably the most bang for your buck when it comes to small flashlights. I doubt you will find a better flashlight for the price. The beam width can be adjusted to a tight little square (remember, it's an LED, not a round bulb) that will shine as far as a couple of football fields at night. It actually works better for long-distance illumination at night than some of my older spotlights that claim to have 0.5 million candlepower.

I own around 6 of these at this point, and have never had a single problem out of any of them. They are reasonably waterproof (I trust them in the rain, but would not risk fully submerging them). A couple of them have been dropped from a height of about 4 feet onto pavement, with no damage other than a scratch on the casing. I do not use any of these on a bike, but rather keep one in the car, one in my tool bag, one in my laptop bag, etc.

The more expensive version of this same Rosewill light DOES NOT feature beam width adjustment (or at least it didn't when I first bought these). This is the better deal.

4 out of 5 eggsVery bright; lasted 13 months

Pros: Very bright light with adjustable beam width provides excellent visibility for night bicycling or other uses. Aluminum case is robust and rugged.

Cons: Died after about 13 months. Not terrible, but it should have lasted longer.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent little light!

Pros: bright little light. i own 4 different rosewill flashlights and no issue with them so far. build quality is great. ideal for tight spaces.

Cons: after the second day of use, the on/off switch stopped working. replaced batteries a couple of times and nothing. i think the issue is a bad contact with the switch itself. i have already sent back the unit to newegg and i am awaiting a replacement because i really like this little flashlight.

Other Thoughts: looking forward to the replacement. newegg has been great about that. =)

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Light

Pros: Nice Light output: bright and white with even and adjustable spread. Great price when on sale. Handy bike mount, if not a little bulky. When biking in the pitch dark, it’s just good enough to see comfortably at speed, which is still pleasantly surprising for the price. Combine it with a decent helmet light and you’ve got no worries. In other lighting conditions (under street lights at night, etc.), it’s just fine by itself. Solid construction.

Cons: Loose lens means water finds its way in and becomes condensation on the inside of the lens. 10 hour battery life is questionable, but recharging mine once a week is pretty easy. Handlebar mount is rattley.

Other Thoughts: Previous reviewers have commented that one battery is draining faster than the other two. I haven’t observed this, and it shouldn’t happen because the batteries are wired in series (end-to-end). Maybe one battery is of poor quality compared to the other two.

It's not a perfect light, but price/performance is very good so far. We'll see how it holds up over the long term.

5 out of 5 eggsRosewill makes it right

Pros: Loved the unit, but was disappointed when I took the battery pack out to replace the batteries and a piece of circuitry fell out, could not find it, making the unit unusable. Was so upset, I wrote a review giving the unit one egg (see signed disappointed). I then contacted Rosewill, explained the situation and a new flashlight is coming in the mail. In retrospect, I should have called Rosewill first, but I was upset

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsPoorly constucted

Pros: Handy adjustable beam, compact, lightweight. Would have purchased several units if it were better constructed. I had the flashlight for less than 3 months.

Cons: When removing the battery pack, the contact component between the battery pack and internal circuitry fell out and could not be found, making the flashlight unusable.

2 out of 5 eggsYear end 2nd review.

Pros: Sturdy built. Rain resistant.

Cons: OK. Well I first gave this flashlight 5 stars when I had used it for only a few weeks. Now I see that I was wrong.

I have used it for over a year now and the thing just gives me a headache. It works OK (sometimes) I spend more time hitting it to get it to light up than I do actually using it. I think the circuit board is loose inside or something.

The lens is not thick enough so even tightened down all the way the lens still wobbles a little. So it is not submersible, if it falls in a puddle it just might survive. It performs after a few months exactly the same as the cheap gas station ones. However when it does decide to work it is way brighter than the gas station led lights.

Other Thoughts: Is is worth buying. I guess so but I'm not happy with the longevity of it. for twenty clams I expected it to last at least 2 years.

4 out of 5 eggsgood if on sale

Pros: It is fairly bright and runs on standard batteries (AAA)

The handlebar mount is good enough. I took it on a trail and it remained fast, while will easily removable even with thin gloves (would not try it with thick gloves though).

The light cone is adjustable so you can either illuminate a smaller spot that is brighter (and can therefore be further away) or spread the light over a larger area at lower brightness.

It has a blink option to be more noticeable.

Cons: While it is a bright light, the flux is definitely less than 220 lumen (even with new Duracell batteries)

The light does not have a regulated output. This means that the lamp will get (a lot) less bright when the battery charge decreases, I would not recommend using this light on a dark road during the second half of the battery life.

There is only one brightness setting. I would prefer if I could set a lower brightness when I am on a paved road and only need to be seen (to conserve batteries) and a higher brightness when I am biking through the forest at night.

Other Thoughts: I bought this light while it was discounted at ~18$. At this price it is a really decent light, especially with the stable mount. I still deduct one egg since the flux is less than stated.
For the recommended retail price of 45$ you can get a better lamp with different brightness levels and for only a little more even with digitally regulated output.
