1 out of 5 eggsInexpensive and it shows

Pros: Case and switch assembly seem to be decent quality

Cons: The plastic AAA battery holder cracked and it is not available for replacement. Also, the adjustable zoom is sloppy and does not stay where set.

Other Thoughts: This item never left the house, so taking into consideration the extremely light use, I would not rely on this for extended service.

3 out of 5 eggsI liked the previous model better.

Pros: Nice bright light and well made. Runs for quite a while on three AAA Batteries.

Cons: Do not care for the sliding focus. Previous model had a turn to focus which I find works better. This model does not have the strobe feature. I found that useful when walking at night. Made it easier for traffic to see you. Unable to stand this unit on it's end to act as a lamp. This model is also larger than the previous model. Older model was easier to carry.

Other Thoughts: I would like to see the previous model brought back. It was a good flashlight and in my opinion was a better design.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor with a few deal-breaker issues

Pros: All metal, inexpensive.

Cons: Issue #1) Pres the power on button- the LED lights on full power for 5 seconds, flashes 3 times then stays on full power.
I'm not referring to the flash or SOS function- there is no "full power-solid on" setting on this flashlight that doesn't start with a flashing sequence first.

Issue #2) Another reviewer mentioned that the front lens assembly is too lose and slides up and down by itself when you tilt the flashlight up or down thereby changing the focus/zoom. My light does the same thing- tilt the front of the light up and the lens assembly slides down to wide angle mode, tilt the light down to illuminate something on the ground and the assembly again slides down towards the ground resulting in spot beam mode.

Other Thoughts: My light seems to have the following modes by pressing the power button-

-flash 3 times then solid on full power
-66% power
-constant flashing full power

No solid on full power mode!

For twelve clams it isn't worth returning- but it's going in the trash on recycle day!

4 out of 5 eggsRosewill RLFL-13003 Cree XPE-R2 LED Search Flashlight

Pros: its very bright!! It can use regular batteries. seems to be water resistant, though i didnt submerge it, just wet from rain. the zoom is nice too.

Cons: on high with 3 AAA batteries, i wouldnt expect them to last more than 1-1.5 hrs. Then it begins to dim and flash or some other bizzaro stuff.
i actually thought it was damaged the first time the batteries died. all other features work well too. Never tried the clamp/mount device on anything but seems very sturdy and likely to hold onto whatever you attach it to.

Other Thoughts: dont attempt to look into the lens while its on, day or night, unless you want to blind them. lol seems pretty rugged, ive dropped it a couple times and it still works.

3 out of 5 eggsGood, almost great

Pros: I I bought this after getting a similar bike light from a different reseller, and after deciding to pick up a few more figured I should go with Newegg since they are my favorite reseller. I chose this light since it looks very similar to the one I had, and figured it would be as good. It is not, but is close.

Pros: It’s solid, and doesn't feel cheap, its all aluminum and feels great. Has one super bright LED that really puts out a lot of light. Seriously this thing is BRIGHT, so bright that if you use it for a bike light you need to worry about blinding people walking or biking toward you. That is if you can get the focus to stick but check the cons for that.

It uses 3 AAA so you can use Eneloops or another rechargeable, it also fits the 18650 style LION battery if you have some of those but unless you are refurbing laptop batteries I don’t know why you would. Pick up some AAA Eneloops here on Newegg if you want something rechargeable to go with this. The battery life if pretty great too since its a single LED, and although I haven’t timed it I’ve only needed to swap once after using it quite a bit.

The button on the back is good, I don’t find myself hitting it by accident. It has some modes for brightness which is good, and also a strobe which I guess you could use for signaling but is mostly just something you hit by accident and get annoyed as you try to switch away from it.

It comes with a nice little pouch that can go on your belt which was a pleasant surprise. I don’t have the kind of job where I would need this but if I did this would be a good option, especially for the price.

Lastly the bike mount is solid, it has a nice grip on the bars which has been an issue for me with other bike lights that I've used as my bars taper quite a bit. You can jam some Styrofoam or something else in between in case its too loose.

Cons: Cons: There is one big con for this, and it may just be that the ones I ordered are defective, but the section that moves to allow you to focus the beam tighter or wider is totally loose. It slides from wide to tight way too easily, and it certainly looks like this is how it was designed. It’s still usable but the movement on the focus is not like on a similar model I bought where that section requires a firm twist to adjust. I won’t be using this one on my bike as bumps would make the focus shift which kind of ruins it as a bike light. I’ll still use it for emergency lights I have around the house, and for quick trips outside in the dark, but this issue is a big drawback.

It would have been a great light if not for this. Maybe you could use some tape or hot glue to just stick it in place, but I don’t feel like trying. In short don’t buy this for use on a bike. Strobe mode is annoying too, I may just not be enough of an outdoorsman to understand but just don’t get why its there.

Other Thoughts: A good light except for the focusing issue. Given the price I would still recommend it just to have as an emergency light, something to take when you walk the dog, or an EDC light if you want something bright and not expensive. Don’t buy it to use a bike light or any other role where you can’t deal with the loose focus issue.

5 out of 5 eggsKiller little light...

Pros: I love this little guy. I don't use it for cycling but I would imagine it would be perfect for it. What I did get it for is because I as tired of the el cheapo 9 LED units that you see everywhere. They can be great for the price you pay and stocking up to have on hand, but I really wanted to have one nice compact and powerful light that allowed me to focus the beam as needed. CREE is a great bulb manufacture and Rosewill makes some decent affordable stuff.

Cons: none if you get it at the right price

5 out of 5 eggsRosewill

Pros: Quality light. Bright, strong, everything you need in a flashlight

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Just because you don't pay $80 for a flashlight doesn't mean its not quality. I use to buy $80 lights as i use them on the job. I figured the lifetime guarantee many of them have would save me money. Wrong. The pain of sending them in is not worth the price. This light I have thrown. Dropped in water, lost a couple of times and its still working

4 out of 5 eggsDecent all-purpose Light

Pros: Good beam that's adjustable with bonus of being able to use on one's bicycle.

Cons: Uses 3 AAA batteries, supposed to also use 18650 (3.7v) but doesn't work the modes quite right.

Other Thoughts: Standard 1.5v AAA starts @ 1.65v 3 x 1.65v = 4.95v
Lithium AAA starts @ 1.8v 3 x 1.8v = 5.4v
18650 3.7v battery starts @ 4.3v

See how the numbers fall?

5 out of 5 eggsGOOD & RUGGED

Pros: I bought 2 of these many months ago for my bike. They are bright. They've gone on many bike trips on not so great trails & kept on working while providing good lighting.. They've been dropped several times when I was using them for other tasks.
Now I'm buying some more because the others have gone to my tool box, vehicles & "borrowed".

Cons: A bit expensive if not on sale. Family & friends "borrow" them.

Other Thoughts: Similar aluminum case LED flashlights run for the regular price & are not as bright.
