1 out of 5 eggsCool while it worked (6 mos)

Pros: Plays MP4 files downloaded from web

Cons: awful remote - must be directly in front of unit and within short range (6 ft)
power supply fried after 6 mos

Other Thoughts: Strange channel configuration; does not acknowledge QAM subtexts

1 out of 5 eggsGreat when it worked

Pros: DVR feature is handy.

Cons: iView warranty policy. I need to ship the unit back at my own expense and send them a money order (no checks or credit cards) for $20 to get the repaired unit back. At this point it isn't worth the shipping costs.

Other Thoughts: Worked well for about 10 months and then quit. I was going to get it repaired under warranty until I read the policy. The 1 year warranty is useless.

2 out of 5 eggsDied after 7 months

Pros: Pretty good on recording

Cons: The remote had bad range
Software slow/buggy
Died under a year

Other Thoughts: If they had not jumped the price up so high I might've bought a replacement, I suppose I will have to go without tv for a while

4 out of 5 eggsDigital to digital tuner

Pros: Great features for the price, $36! Picks up all available channels and displays a clear stable picture! Bright display of time and channel number on front on unit, channel number is just a number on the list not the actual channel number. The display turns off when the turner is "off".

Cons: The PVR recorded program breaks up some. When turned off the display is turned off so unit can't be used as a clock. I have not idea how long it will record pre flash memory size. Maybe 40 minutes for a 4G sized flash. Manual printed very small, I had to down load the manual from iView web site to be able to read it! Updates also needed to be downed and installed to fix glitches in software!

Other Thoughts: This converter is similar to others under different manufactures brand names, shop wisely!

4 out of 5 eggsmay be a mute point

Pros: recording is nice. Still worth the price for the features-even tho clear QAM channels will soon be extinct everywhere

Cons: Comcast has(or soon will) scrambled the clearQAM channels with their new "digital upgrade" the channels which used to come in via my new TVs tuner(s) are now gone. Here in SW Pa, as of 10-1-2013, Without their little box (which they will charge for after 1 year) now-you get nothing . Those clear QAM channels were to be sacred ground from day 1 of the cabling of the US, but, as always, "follow the money". This will be happening in all markets very soon.

Other Thoughts: Someone needs to look into the money trail which is allowing Comcast et al to rewrite any and all regs and laws as they please. I wouldn't care much because I watch everything via internet, but the same people control that, and they are already posturing to increase their profits on broadband-or eliminate our ability to stream entertainment. Check out the changes in play if you think I'm a conspiracy theory nut

2 out of 5 eggsHas potential

Pros: It was cheap, it has a lot of features, low power consumption, small.

Cons: Firmware problems effect tuner's ability to deliver all available ClearQAM channels over broadcast basic cable, poorly written manual, abysmal remote control.

Other Thoughts: This unit has been reviewed extensively on other sites. I was aware of many of its shortcomings before ordering it. I didn't realize, however, that it would not be able to find all of the unencrypted ClearQAM channels offered by my cable provider. I know it is the unit, because I don't have this issue on any of my other sets with ClearQAM capability. I'm getting about 24 channels, where my other sets are getting 39. I have tried several different firmware revisions. Some find the missing channels, but then lose the ones I had before. It seems to be 100% firmware related. Hopefully they will get this resolved in a future firmware revision. All I can say is if you require ClearQAM, you might not get everything that's available on your syetem. The average consumer does not want to have to read through thousands of messages on the various forums in order to use the most basic functions of a product that should essentially be plug and play, period. If you are an enthusiast, hobbyist. or just like to tinker with things, then this might just be for you.

1 out of 5 eggs2nd one also a dud

Pros: - Small
- Cheap

Cons: - DOES NOT TUNE clearQAM cable signal
- Useless

Other Thoughts: This is the replacement device - also tunes no clearQAM channels - The description is lying. My TV tunes the channels just fine - This box does not scan anything. Since I can't return the device I'm suck now and have to write off the purchase price. If you consider buying this device I suggest to reconsider.

1 out of 5 eggsYou only get what you pay - this one is a gamble

Pros: - Tiny footprint
- Impressive feature set (though not confirmed yet)
- Killer price
- HDMI out

Cons: - Fails to tune clearQAM channels (waiting for replacement devices to confirm that)
- Ridiculous manual
- Programming not incredibly straight forward
- Flimsy remote

Other Thoughts: I have requested an RMA for the device since I suspect that that the unit is faulty, due to the fact that it does show good signal strength on the clearQAM channels, but does not find any stations on them. My TV that also does support clearQAM does tune all stations just fine.
Unfortunately the purchase does not qualify for a refund, but Newegg was nice enough (Thanks, guys - you rock!) to pay for the return shipping label for a replacement. If the replacement device shows the same issues, I'll be stuck with that lemmon and will have to cut my losses :o(

4 out of 5 eggsA bargain for a converter box that records!

Pros: Sensitive tuner with strong reception;
Bright digital display;
HDMI output jack;
USB jack on front of the box allows you to connect a USB drive (or hard drive) to the box and play any movies, video and audio on the stick to your TV set; AND
allows you to program and record TV shows like a VCR and DVD recorder, but you can connect a hard drive or USB Drive and it records to that, so you can watch you TV shows on a tablet or computer for later use.

Cons: Confusing channel numbering; firmware not perfect, but much better after firmware was updated in mid-August.

Other Thoughts: The fact that this box can record to a hard drive or USB Drive is a rarity in the market, and overall it's a great bargain.
