Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Works well with Verbatum DVD+RW disks. I was able to re-use disks that were previously rejected by my old Samsung DVD-VR335. Does a good job playing authored DVD+R DL disks too. The digital TV receiver works just fine too. It quickly found all the local digital TV channels. Oh, it upconverts everything to 1080p whether from inputs, antenna or disk. Can easily force a disk eject if the machine locks up (like with a whacko disk). Nice slim, sleek design with plenty of I/O ports.
Cons: No points off for not being able to open the disk tray using the remote. No points off for clock display only if front panel display is NOT set to automatic. No points off for scheduled recording only if the unit is OFF.
Other Thoughts: I like this recorder, even if it does have a few quirks. I was able to recover half a dozen DVD+RW disks that I thought were bad when my old Samsung was AFU. That's cool, they're not cheap.

I Love It!

Tech Level: average - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: I've been using this about 8 months now and am loving it. Easy to set up, intuitive navigation, plenty of input / output so I have this connected to TWC's set top box plus HD-DVR, computer's TV tuner, and television, and I still have the front input available for video capturing from a camccorder. For recording, I have tried cheap Memorex DVD-R, DVD+R DL, and DVD+RW and DVD-RW. They all work fine. Panasonic gave me *outstanding* customer service when I called in and asked questions about this unit.
Cons: no Blu-ray recorder, yes, I'm trying hard to find a con. :p
Other Thoughts: BTW, this unit doesn't output to a analoge television. Not a con for me but it may be for some. It also requires, I noticed that stuff I recorded on Memorex' DVD-RW (not+RW) disks sometimes become unreadable on the unit after ripping their contents to a computer though it may be my DVD drive or Memorex' fault. So, if you wanna record on a RW disk and put it in your computer's DVD burner for playing or ripping, I suggest you go with +RW disks.

Good Product but mine was defective

Pros: Good overall design and features. Easy to program. Very nice remote.
Cons: My unit had a few problems. 1) After recording to DVD+RW the disc had a large circular scratch on it. 2) The unit displayed a disc error and locked up, I had to pull the plug to reset it. 3) It would not play some store bought discs.
Other Thoughts: I sent the unit back for replacement. I really like this product and have always had good luck with Panasonic. Hopefully the replacement will work
