Pros: I've never had a portable player so have no preconceived notions about the product. I bought this DVD player after previewing all units on display at Best Buy. I liked the 13 hour battery idea - and haven't been able to run it long enough (before I get tired) to drain the battery all the way down. I travel to Kuwait and back and wanted to watch my own movies rather than the airline selection. I don't understand anyone's need to have a remote control for a unit you can't watch more than an arm's length away, and as it sits on the seat tray in front of you, is even closer. It does everything it's advertised to do, and I'm quite happy with it. Sound quality? Who would buy this unit without using a headset? Otherwise, you offend the person sitting next to you who will in all likelihood not be a fan of the movie you selected.
Cons: None so far - I like it. But, I have Power DVD on my computer to watch movies, and one really nice feature it provides is a window that asks if you want to start at the beginning or at the last place you were viewing. That's handy when I want to pick up where I left off without haveing to fast forward my way to that point. The portable DVD player folks ought to incorporate that feature.
Other Thoughts: I bought those super thin plastic (colored) CD holders, and put my DVD movies in them. That way, I can take quite a few movies without taking up a lot of space in the DVD bag.

The Best DVD player
Reviewed By: on 11/9/2008
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Light weight, best battery life of all DVD players, buttons readily accessible, and screen is very versatile.
Cons: Don't like where the stop button is positioned. Sometimes you tap it accidentally
Other Thoughts: I absolutely love this player I have had it for close to a year and I use it mainly for my kids. Sometimes when I travel I take it with me. The battery life is exxagerated like the other person said. It really gives about 9hrs. but that's incredible do the research this is the best battery life dvd player around. It comes in extra handy when I travel for work. Sit on a plan for 3 hrs. get to my destination fly home use it again. I don't even need to bring the charger. Its also very light weight which makes it easy to bring around. My children bring it to restaurants, peoples houses and everywhere they go. I barely have to worry about charging because it really lasts. I really think that the sound quality is also one of the best. I have other DVD players and when your on a plane you can' t hear anything. With this you can actually hear it. Which is great when you have kids that don't want to use the headphone.

HOW ON EARTH IS THERE NO REMOTE
Reviewed By: TASTELESS on 8/9/2008
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Well here I go again with a purchase of a DVD player for traveling.. SAME OLD STUFF. The sound on the plane is not good at all and it is very misleading about the 13 hour life of the battery. You will need to watch your movie on the DARKEST MODE to have the battery last. I am not extatic about this DVD player / FEATURES & no remote kills the deal.. I would rather have it a bit more heavey and have real quality then the same battery life and no remote...controll also. The panasonic player is not going to make my cut??? good luck all
Cons: NO REMOTE and very misleading about the battery life. You need to use the ver darkest setting to get the longer battery life.
Other Thoughts: JUST NOT FOR ME ... I will prob go with the new SONY dvp-fx820... really the same battery life and better design, features and pic quality; oh ya a fantastic remote .. As allways new egg came through w/ a perfect deal but it is all about the product..
