4 out of 5 eggsPanasonic 5.1 sub woofer volume

Pros: Good sound, wireless surround worked first time, excellent sound. Need to use remote DolbyII button between "off", "Movie", "Music" to acchieve best surround. (Off= 2.1 stereo). The big surprise was how well the surround worked with just plain TV sound stereo into the RCA Aux input.

Cons: Not a con but mine is the SC-PT760, same remote etc.

Other Thoughts: Many have mentioned the subwoofer control. The remote near the bottom has a dedicated "Subwoofer Level" button which toggles X1, X2, X3 (shows on display) so you can cut the sub down enough for apartment listening. X1 is still audible but pretty quiet.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice !!

Pros: This thing is a great value for the money, it sounds great, lets you listen to your ipod and watch videos from the ipod as well. the up converstion is awesome as long as you use hdmi....overall very good piece of equipment...

Cons: the one thing that i was a little dissapointed with, i would have to say the wireless speaker, not because they are of poor quality;but because they require to be plugged in to a separete receiver, which then transmits to the main receiver...so techincally the speakers are not wireless....the speaker transmitter is..lol

Other Thoughts: get it get it get it....i went to bestb and circuitc and both had it priced way more then newegg...and thats plus tax....so defenetly take advantage of this one...you cant loose

5 out of 5 eggsI'm Happy

Pros: This thing rocks. I have a huge living room, with a 42" plasma..and I have the wireless speakers on the other side of the room, and it sounds great. Took awhile to figure out all the settings to make the speakers work all the time, but once you figure out what's what, it's a good system for the price. Having a radio and 5 disc changer is just an added bonus for me.

Cons: Need to keep your wireless phone away, or it'll cut out. It's not a Bose, but for the price it does a good job.

Other Thoughts: I tested wireless speakers in several other rooms, and it works well. I plan on buying the additional speaker kit, and putting a set in my game room.

3 out of 5 eggsEasy setup, but not Hi-Fi

Pros: Very easy setup, and the rear, wireless speakers work well. No problems with my wireless router, wireless print server, or phones, which are in the same room. Rear speaker volume works well with DVD, but sometimes needs adjustment for Pro logic sources (stereo sources). Works well with movies.

Cons: Do not expect hi-fidelity. Music is bland - no sizzle, and bass can be sloppy. This device is a quick, easy solution for movies, but not for the discriminating listener. If you have never owned / heard a quality system, you will be very pleased. The usual warning about the lack of connectivity options apply - it's the pits. The remote is basic, but not too bad, but some audio menus can only be accessed in DVD mode.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great sound, VERY easy set up, much easier than my older sony 5.1 system. Color coded wires plug in to speaker input bank for fast easy set up. Limited input out put, but I was able to buy a basic HD switch from the local best buy, coupled with universal remote it really isnt an issue. The 1080 HD up conversion is sorta half and half, sometime it looks great! For example with animation movies, like happy feet and cars, HUGE difference...but in others especially older movies it doesn't really do much. The sound quality is excellent, and I know others have had issues with the wireless rear set up, but since I already had my room wired, I was able to place the wireless box next to the the main receiver and havent had any trouble.

Cons: One think how ever that I REALLY dont like is that you really cant turn down the woofer, I have some jerko neighbors that wine like girls with they hear even the slightest bump. and while I am a huge fan of the boom it makes, they tend to get cranky, and I am litterally reduced to reaching around and unplugging the sub every night at about 7:30...my old sony system had a nice little dial on the sub that allowed me to just turn it down, or I could just hit the power switch. I guess thats what you get from not having a powered sub. But at least the systems sounds pretty good even with the sub out.

4 out of 5 eggsTrouble at first - tweak your settings

Pros: Audio: Audio is pretty decent for the price. Speaker balances need tweaking to get an appropriate surround sound effect (see below section). Rear wireless speakers are a very nice feature
Aesthetics: Speaker stands are great. I had considered other systems, but really didn't want to go through the trouble of purchasing wall mounts/speaker stands.
Setup: Easy
Ipod: Dock is great - browsing though via the interface sucks ( btw the left/right buttons are the page up and page down buttons).

Cons: Setup: Screws could be easier to get in.
Wireless: Interferes with wireless internet (set your router to use channels 1, 7, 11)
Interface: Could be a lot better (honestly they could of spent an extra 1-2 hours making it nicer) - remote is not as easy to use as it could be
Cables: Comes with none (does come with a video cable. Be sure to purchase an hdmi cable + optical digital cables).

Other Thoughts: I've seen a lot of reviews which have pointed out issues with the rear speakers. At first I had the same issue and was very disappointed - then thought it through a bit more. It's not that the rear speakers are weak, it's that the center speakers are strong. I've now set up my audio settings to (-7db on the center speakers, and +7 db on the rear speakers). Everything now sounds good.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Sound

Pros: Modern looking and terrific sound. Newegg was extremely helpful in issuing an RMA for returning a defective unit and replacing it without any hassles. They even paid for the return shipping. Very professional people. I will deal with them again and again.

Cons: The wirekess speakers are a little weak. that is why I rated it at 4 instead of 5.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Sounds very very good
Speakers are skinny and fit well in just about any enviroment
Adjustable sound modes for Whisper and different EQ Bands. You should note that you can't make your own EQ's or your own modes tho... Not much tweaking you can do with this.
Great bass, sometimes too much bass for simple viewing
IPod dock works amazingly (scrolling through the songs is kind of hard)

Cons: No Cables (HDMI/Component/Optical) Included
Channels(Front/Center/Rear) are not adjustable. Most surround systems willl let you tweak channels in dB's, this has no such feature
Subwoofer is not wall powered
Subwoofer has only 3 levels which makes it hard to dial in the right amount of bass, there is also no option to turn the subwoofer off without unplugging it
DVD Player has issues playing back some of my discs (they skip and chop in slow mo during random parts), these discs play fine on PC and XBOX360 and the quality does not look nearly as good on this DVD player as it does on others i've tested
All of the options are not configurable via the remote, meaning for some options you must have a TV attached. It wasn't until my TV arrived that I was able to turn off the light on the volume knob (which serves no purpose anyway)
Front speakers appear to be long and they look like they have speakers from head to toe, but the only speakers are in the top section.
Only one input

Other Thoughts: i really wanted a great surround sound system and i needed a dvd player too so i got this

I am pleased with the overall sound and speakers that come with the unit and the IPod dock is great. The DVD player is horrible in my opinion and there is a real lack of useful features throughout the hometheater system.

This system would be great for a novice or someone who doesn't want to be confused with more advanced options it has a lot of preset modes and color coordinated speaker wires its impossible to screw up hooking it up

With that being said if you want use longer wire or different wire you can't because you need the special connector to plug in the back of your home theater
