EXCELLENT NO FRILLS VALUE!
- Pros: As has been said many times, "it worked right outta the box!"
It looks just like most any external turntable. The tone arm appears extremely fragile, but designed for just enough pressure to obtain the best signal to noise ratio when playing or recording that old LP, so treat it gently!
If you spend some time playing with the excellent Sony software included, you won't believe the beautiful sound derived from your old LPs. There is a certain dynamic quality in them that appears missing in today's techno-perfect CDs.
The software also contains other features that so far remain unexplored due to getting this device up and running.
An added bonus is being able to use it as a stand alone player for old LPs on your home audio system. The quality is amazing.
- Cons: This is not a CON in the normal sense. It is something you have to endure in this kind of recording situation.
Unfortunately, you can't copy an LP like you would a digital file. So, if the vinyl recording is 30 minutes long, it will take 30 minutes to record digitally.
Grab yourself a good book to read while the music plays in the background.
- Other Thoughts: It's a SONY!
good machine
- Pros: Good fidelity and low noise both with and without the preamp. I have not tried connecting to my computer yet. Just to different amps.
- Cons: None that I have found.
- Other Thoughts: Might not equal the late seventies really good stuff but works for me now
