Pros: As has been said many times, "it worked right outta the box!" It looks just like most any external turntable. The tone arm appears extremely fragile, but designed for just enough pressure to obtain the best signal to noise ratio when playing or recording that old LP, so treat it gently!
If you spend some time playing with the excellent Sony software included, you won't believe the beautiful sound derived from your old LPs. There is a certain dynamic quality in them that appears missing in today's techno-perfect CDs. The software also contains other features that so far remain unexplored due to getting this device up and running.
An added bonus is being able to use it as a stand alone player for old LPs on your home audio system. The quality is amazing.
Cons: This is not a CON in the normal sense. It is something you have to endure in this kind of recording situation. Unfortunately, you can't copy an LP like you would a digital file. So, if the vinyl recording is 30 minutes long, it will take 30 minutes to record digitally. Grab yourself a good book to read while the music plays in the background.

Pros: As a previous reviewer wrote: "Works right outta the box". It was a gift from my wife who ordered it from Newegg. I opened it up this week and just in a few minutes of spare time I've recorded several LPs and played with the software settings a little. Nice software, maybe too much for what I need but great editing capabilities. I love that when I'm done converting my albums I can connect it to my stereo system and use it with that as well.
Cons: I've only had it a week so I haven't found any yet.
Other Thoughts: Make sure you plug in the USB before trying to set it up for recording. Also, when recording an LP you don't have to record each song individually. The software allows you to record the entire LP, side 1 and 2 and it will recognize the breaks and separate the songs for you. Very easy.
