5 out of 5 eggsHighly recommended

Pros: Bluray playback is very clear.
Starts the playback very fast.
Netflix streaming works great. We use this feature more than any other probably.
Seems to upscale non Bluray DVDs well.
Setup was straightforward.

Cons: Can't add titles to Netflix cue from the Bluray
Remote control provided by Sony is pretty basic
Setting up account was awkward and took multiple steps and multiple websites.

Other Thoughts: Played Planet Earth and other Discovery Bluray disks and it's stunning.
I have it connected to Ethernet, with wireless LAN setup too as backup. Works great.
My house has Comcast business class cable modem service which is typically 10 Mbps or better.
Occassionally I have seen the Netflix playback slow down but it's not clear whether it is my switches in the home, the Bluray player, the Internet, or Netflix at the source of the video streaming-ie. I have not investigated in detail. This can be complex to troubleshoot but I've seen this pretty infrequently.
I have not setup Pandora or tried the DLNA feature but have run the software update a couple of times without issue.
I have not tried to attach a USB drive for viewing video or pictures as my TV has those inputs.

1 out of 5 eggsRegretted purchasing

Pros: Loads very quickly. Bluray discs play very well.

Cons: I imagine the reason most people purchase this model is because of the internet connectivity. I bought this model for my Mom as a Mother's Day gift, because she watches Netflix all the time and I figured she'd take advantage of the streaming. The bluray disc I bought her looked great, but for some reason, Netflix HD movies wouldn't stream correctly. They would be super choppy and unwatchable. I got annoyed, because my PS3 streams movies to my TV in absolute gorgeous quality, so there's no reason for the BDP not to.

I searched online and it turns out many people have had the same problem as I do. When I called Sony support, they wasted 20 minutes of my time asking me irrelevant questions and not listening to me. They kept asking me if my TV was HD and if I had a 10+ MB downloading internet speed. I told them it was a widespread problem and they would just ask those types of questions again... annoying.

Other Thoughts: There are other players out there... if I had to do it all over again, I'd start somewhere else. If you plan on watching Netflix, consider ANYTHING else.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Plays Blu-ray with the best quality converter.
Has HDMI and optical audio.
Extra format capabilities are convenient for other media, such as audio and downloaded videos.
Wireless works great.

Cons: Takes about an hour to update at first install. Does not support Netflix or other major streaming providers. One of the biggest and heaviest players.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Blu Ray Player

Pros: Loads at decent times.
Looks great and performs like it should.
Upconverts Regular dvds to 720p.
1080p movies look AMAZING, hands down the best.

Cons: Didn't buy it at newegg this time which is rare.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this at sears for $159.99 2 weeks ago. It was the best deal and nabbed one. Never had any problem connecting to my wireless router. The software update took a few minutes and everything still works perfectly. Dont hesitate to buy this. If you have problems with yours, its more than likely either user error or a defect.

2 out of 5 eggsVery Disappointed

Pros: Great player, great picture, upconverted DVDs look great.

Cons: NO Netflix support! I was led to believe this unit supported streaming video from Netflix but it does not. Why have WIFI and not allow streaming. It makes no sense!

Other Thoughts: SONY needs to step up to the plate and fix this problem with a firmware update, the unit has the capability.

5 out of 5 eggsSony BluRay

Pros: Worked right out of the box. Easy setup - User friendly.
Picture quality was better then I expected. Loaded the BluRay movie much faster then my last player. When I updated the firmware the player indicated what step it was on so you weren't assuming the player froze because it displayed the same screen for 20 or 30 minutes... (this player took less then ten minutes to update)

Cons: this isn't a really a con. The player is half the size (depth) as my last one. So I had to move some things around. Once again not a con.

You need you own HDMI cable if that is what you intend to use.

Other Thoughts: My last player was a Samsung BD P1400. That play in my opinion is junk, granted the s560 player is a couple generations newer. I was lucky to get a movie to play on the BD-P1400 even with a current Firmware. Samsung simply admitted some titles wouldnt play on that player.. Well at least they admitted finally they had a poor product. Every samsung I have owned has failed in some way... (tv, BluRay, Monitor(s)) Stick with SONY. they turn out a good dependable product.

3 out of 5 eggsLacking the Basics

Pros: Excellent picture quality. Nice menus and remote. Easy setup, even to the network.

Cons: Cannot stream music or videos from the network.
(Can only view photos when connected to PC or laptop.)Cannot view anything but pictures from USB storage.
No Netflix, YouTube, etc...even with built-in Internet.
Long start-up and shut-down times.
No frame-by-frame playback.
No slo-motion playback.

Other Thoughts: This unit has amazing picture quality but is a little rough around the edges with streaming and connectivity. Even the PS3 slim can stream music, photos and videos from a network-connected PC. Why not this unit??? Needs some serious firmware changes.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good Unit

Pros: Plays DVDs and Blu-rays. Exactly what I wanted. Wireless works well. Installed a firmware update in about 10 minutes. The remote is fine, it has the buttons you need to get things done.

Cons: By now you would think that these companies would toss in an HDMI cable. All you see with these players is 1080p, 1080p, 1080p, but do they provide the cable for 1080p, of course not.

Other Thoughts: I never had any plans to stream any kind of video via this player or any other. I like the wireless option for any updates that come out for it.

I don't have enough time to watch all the DVDs and Blu-Rays that I have, and then add streaming video. No thanks. I have a life that is not spent all day if front of a TV or computer.

Bought a cheap 4GB USB flash drive for memory for this player (it doesn't have internal memory).
