1 out of 5 eggsDo NOT buy this product as it's apparently end-of-life!

Pros: Lots of promise, intuitive to use.

Cons: Another botched Sony product. Random outages for weeks, no service for several days. Sony refuses to say whether it's an outage or they've pulled the plug on the product. The Dash is useless without the central service... it becomes a brick. Not sold at NE anymore but it's still being sold new at other retailers. Save yourself the headache and don't even consider this product.

Other Thoughts: Sony does it again - rootkits, PS3 feature deletion, cutting off service without advising customers. The worst customer service in the tech sector. Avoid at all costs.

1 out of 5 eggsAnother reason not to buy Sony product

Pros: When it works, it does pretty decent job as a very slow web browser and bulky tablet

Cons: Not even good enough as alarm clock. It will "hibernate" & not turn itself back on. The unit is SUPER slow. It takes about 3 minutes just to turn it on. Every setting change or product update will take at least 15 minutes at high connection speed.
Every time that it loses internet setting for whatever reason, it won't start back up even as a clock.

Other Thoughts: Called Sony product support for help. Totally useless. This will be my last Sony product just because I do not have the box anymore, and I cannot return it. I think it may end up being the most expensive dust collector I bought. (because it's useless!!)

3 out of 5 eggsClassic Sony

Pros: This device has lots of potential.

Cons: Once again Sony has crippled its products by trying to too tightly control the user experience. Onlyf the Chumby apps that are certified by Sony can run on the Dash.

Other Thoughts: Check and make sure any apps you are interested in work on the Dash first. Also read the Dash App forum.

2 out of 5 eggsGood as Alarm Clock

Pros: Cool as an alarm clock.

Cons: Most widget apps are useless, and all offer limited functionality.

No Web Browser!

Other Thoughts: If you want to access the Internet the Sony Dash is kind of like being trapped in a dark room with only a tiny pinhole to let you look at the outside world. 'Nuff said...

4 out of 5 eggsLove my Dash!

Pros: It's an alarm clock!! Not a $500 tablet or cheap netbook.
Like many reviewers have noted, as long as you consider it an over-featured dedicated alarm clock, you should like it.
Screen is sluggish to respond at time, so what at this price point? Screen is beautiful, my wife appreciates I don't force her to watch Netflix when she wants to get some sleep. Endgadget feeds are nice. My kids took it into the backyard tent last night to watch videos (yes, my home wireless was strong enough to reach it in the backyard) without me having to worry about one of the expensive laptops getting trashed. Never thought I'd like this gadget, but considering getting another. Lack of batteries is no big deal. If power went out I'd lose connection to my home wireless, anyway. It remembers its settings and grabs the time off the internet so -again - no big deal! Perhaps I'll change my tune if I have to deal with bad Sony service, but no problems so far.

Cons: Headphone jack too far recessed and under a rubber plug. Looks sleek, but a pain for big hands to plug and unplug.
Should be packaged two to a box to prevent the 14 year old from 'borrowing' it!

Other Thoughts: I thought it would be a useless throw away gift for Father's Day. Turned out to be my favorite present in years. Meets my specific bedside alarm clock/with internet needs better than any other gadget on the market.

3 out of 5 eggsWhat is it?

Pros: Touchscreen, Lots of apps., Nice music player. Price.

Cons: Sony calls this a "Personal Internet Viewer." It just doesn't fit into any category. For the price, it is kinda neat but just weird all around. It has many cool apps, but no battery so you are stuck with the cord. The apps. and touchscreen have many glitches.

Other Thoughts: An alarm clock that has facebook. It is hard to believe the same people that make the PS3 made this. The SONY drug policy must have recently been changed. THIS IS A RESULT OF EXTREMELY BORED GEEKS WITH LOTS OF MONEY FOR ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES!!!

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect device, if you understand the intent.

Pros: This is perfect device if you understand the intent... IMHO.

It is not a computer or an internet browser. It is a internet viewer with various usefull apps (with specific purpose) always on your bed side table (or what so ever).

Alarm is very flexible. Netflix, Youtube are other added bonuses.

Cons: Not a device Con, but Sony Dash online registration is not that smooth (You can't login with your account and can't create account with same email either).

2 out of 5 eggsDevice is OK. Support is the sUx0r

Pros: Nice bright screen. Relatively easy to navigate.

Cons: STILL unable to register after trying all afternoon and calling Sony Support. ("Wait a couple of hours and try again." Yeah, that's gonna help)

Unfortunately, this appears to constitute business as usual for Sony these days - sell products that require online registration and then don't keep up the sites so their customers can actually register and use their purchases. I used to love Sony products and considered them one of the better brands on the market, but not any more.

4 out of 5 eggsBest Alarm Clock ever

Pros: Beautiful alarm clock
Great power saving mode (blank screen) for those of us who don't sleep well
Netflix works pretty well (except HD, which continually rebuffers every 10-20 seconds)
Pandora works well as well

Cons: Touch screen is sluggish
No battery, which means when it is moved to a new room it has to reboot.
Doesn't really work well for most uses outside an alarm clock with widgets, but since that's what it is...

Other Thoughts: Overall I really love my Dash, but I'm not impressed by it. It's a perfect alarm clock, and adds the ability to do things like look up cooking recipes and watch movies while away from my computers or tv, as well as stream Pandora and other services. It is NOT a tablet, and the 256mb RAM is limiting, but for what it is, it's worth it at any price point below $100 (if you need an alarm clock)...

3 out of 5 eggsSo close yet so far away

Pros: * Auto-sets time and date, no more blinking 12:00
* Can stream photos from various photo sharing services including Facebook
* Can stream video and music from the web
* Includes handy weather and traffic apps
* Can set the screen to auto-dim or shut off on custom schedule

Cons: * You have to have a mydash account with Sony to setup the device.
* The Sony web-site is frequently down and reseting passwords for your account is impossible, it's easier to create a new account and re-register the device.
* My device has been randomly un-registering itself which makes me lose access to some of the custom apps
* Most of the apps from Chumby do not integrate well with the Dash and are really just visual fluff for the device
* The device gives you outdated instructions when trying to setup Pandora or other streaming services
* I seriously think that Sony has abandoned supporting this device

Other Thoughts: I had high hopes for this device considering that its initial retail price was over $250 but this falls far short of more polished devices you can buy in that price range. Fortunately I picked this up on clearance for $60 and it ranks fairly well against other products in that price range. Assuming that Sony eventual fixes their online site used to manage this device it should work well as an alarm clock with extra perks.
